The Unshackling Of The Outlier's Inner Feet
 NOVEMBER 2, 2004                                                                © 2004: JAN COX

When he would eat a large meal, one man would go walk-it-off,
when he would have a large disappointment, he would go ache-it-off,
and when he would read a large book, he would go think-it-off.
(For those of you taking this course for credit, note:
his consciousness always got a large laugh out of his attempt at the last one.)
“Dear Mr. Answer: What possible circumstances could cause a person to laugh
at their self?  Plus (if you think about it) it doesn’t seem like this should be possible?  What gives with this  –   and everything else for that matter?!
Sincerely,” etc.

The Complete Case Concerning: Hormones, Neurons & Seriousness.
Only hormones can actually be serious.
    (“And that’s the full story?”
That’s it.)
Next on the docket is Case Number A-1404: Your State vs. What You Understand.  All rise, the Honorable, yadda, yadda, and so on.
“Oh, Ezekiel saw a stomach  –   way in the middle of a thought.”
     “No he didn’t!.......wait a minute.......okay  –   yeah, it’s possible.”
“Ah-h-h, much more than possible my friend.
In ordinary men: hormones have never seen a sentence from neurons which
they couldn’t finish.”
    “Or didn’t start.”
“Yeah  –  almost overlooked that.”

Urban Unplanning Update.
When they want to totally disrupt a city all they have to do is pretend really hard
that the first part of a building that gets constructed is the penthouse.
(Which is pretty neat in that the penthouse is the home of all pretending.
“Kind of like the relationship between Odin and Valhalla.”
“Or consciousness and you.”
In but one land is everybody glad when the king dies.)

On one world, it’s only funny if it happens to someone else,
and only tragic if it happens to you.
“Hey, you don’t fool me with that: on-one-world  stuff  –  you’re talking about here,” said a Martian.
No solid-citizen newspaper publishes headlines concerning their own town.

A father advised a son:
“To facilitate awakening, do only what you must do to survive,
and after that: only things you enjoy.”
    “Nothing else?”
“What else is there.”
    “You probably mean: for-anyone-with-any-sense.”

According to an ancient (and sometimes troubling) legend:
The part of your body that sweats most tells you all you need to know about yourself.

The Difference Highlighted Again.
Hormones say: “I’ve got my love to keep me warm,”
and neurons say: “I have an electric blanket.”
(“What I most hate about history,” said the present, “is the jump it got on me.”)

People not on close speaking terms with consciousness talk instead to god,
dead ancestors and aliens.         (They don’t know what they’re missing.)

When one man saw a book titled: “The Wisdom Of Crowds,”
he at first laughed derisively  –   but after a few seconds,
its irrefutable validity vis-a-vis humankind-collectively kicked in.

The triumph of the pen over the sword may only be a metaphor,
but on one world, metaphors trump reality.

Chit Chat.
“If the king dies without a son, no one knows what to do.”
“Is that why the king never dies unless he has a son?”
“Yes.”
“And we’re actually discussing consciousness and not royal succession?”
“Right.”

Says one man:
“If it’s true that talk–is-cheap, I’ll tell you this: it shouldn’t be!”
(Apparently one who’s heard enough.)

In his ongoing efforts to grease the inner slopes,
one man has given his self a new name  –  one that even he can’t pronounce,
and which he hopes he’ll never be able to.
(“And that’s what I call meaningful progress,” adds he.)

Two kids horsin’ around:
“What  truly marvelous things can men do?”
“You mean that other creatures can’t do?!”
“I mean that THEY can’t do!  –   what else is worth jawin’ about.”
(Certainly nothing for the certain few.)

The Sweet Sting Of Exertion vs. Religiosity.
For the certain man there is no contest between genuflecting and bench pressing.
