Confessional
writing is not writing at all – it is something else,
same
as vocal confessionals do not represent any actual thinking.
(“See! – and you say that emotions can’t talk –
so even if you’re right,
they’re still smart enough to get someone else to do it for them.”)
A
father said to a son:
“Personal
anecdotes prove nothing – especially whether or not you are a real
person.”
“I would have expected you to say that the mere
telling of such episodes
would be the definitive proof that you are no such.”
“You’re
right of course.”
Says
one guy: “My consciousness is superior to any politician running for
election
in
that consciousness doesn’t have to promise anybody anything to get in
power;
unnoticed,
it simply takes over
-- like the epitome of a
tyrant.”
When
one man did finally realize that he was his own-best-friend, it so
affected
him
that
he turned to a life of drink, sex and dissolution.
(Some
years later he got around to thanking his self.)
The
kid looked up from the book in his hands and said to the ole man:
“Hey
pop, listen to this,” and he began to read:
“
‘Courage consists not in simply overcoming fear, but in studying its
many
faces
and
carefully planning for its defeat’ – now tell me, o wise
father:
Can
the same be said regarding the relationship between the mind and
ignorance?”
And the elder replied:
“Not
unless you are the sort who will believe anything they read or hear
from
other humans” --
a response that initially baffled the young whifflehead.
But
later that day it suddenly hit him that what the ole man had subtly
done
was present what ordinary men think of as ignorance
as being an illusory punching bag;
the
ultimate tar-whale:
as long as you fight it – you can’t get away from it,
and
the longer you hang around it – the more likely you are to be consumed
by it – and all of it occurring solely in your mind:
the
very implement by which you believed you could overcome ignorance.
All
in all, by bed time the kid considered it a day double-well spent.
Being
sentenced to die at noon is not all that bad --
as
long as no one comes by to remind you of the time.
Conversation.
“Is
knowing-what’s-going-on
anything like not knowing anything?”
“You could say that.”
“Really?”
“Yeah --
but you’d be wrong.”
Definition.
Dreams:
Hormones’ attachment to thoughts.
(“Mush! – you hearty words –
onward!”)
Pharmaceutical
Update.
For
best results: Continue taking
until
there is no more.
(This
is actually a trick-prescription in that the time never comes
when
there is no more.
)
“But if you stop taking it, isn't that the same thing as there not
being
any more.”
Precisely:
which is why the man-who-knows
knows to never stop partaking.
“Jeeze! – you gotta admit:
sometimes it’s really hard being a
patient
of ThisThing!”
Fact:
A real-deal-man doesn’t have to admit anything (in fact): Fact
Fact:
A
man who will
admit anything announces that he understands nothing.
At
a dinner party the mayor of one city was overheard to say that he found
the arts
to
be incivility-made-manifest
–
and with impressive price tags attached
for
the effort.
Fact:
Gazelles only survive because lions are there to kill them.
Today’s
Tale.
One
man says his life long spiritual-quest reached its climax when,
while
traveling through the high mountains of
Gurkistan,
(under
the blistering influence of some low life drugs) the realization
suddenly
hit him: that the term: “metaphysical-consequences”
began with the same letters as
the
name of a pole dancer he’d met in
Morocco in ‘84: Margo
Culhane.
When
he got his drink and slid to the far end of the bar,
a
man found this message written in the dust:
“A
man’s consciousness is like a little feller who’s been placed on top of
a
real
high dam and put in charge of looking after the thing – but
given no instructions, (plus, no one ever comes to relieve him).”
Every
person has a doppelganger – and you don’t have to go
looking for him.
(Sniffs one chap: “Not
having a backyard OR dog of my own –
I have nothing to say
on the matter.”
He must
be
one of those people who live in: DYW
– Don’t You Wish.)

Don’t think of yourself as being either like this, or like that.
Make your consciousness constantly scan.
Do not accept, handle or pass on useless currency.
Never offer an excuse or give an explanation for what you did.
Don’t
believe that you have anything to hide;
don’t
be such a fool as to believe that you can
hide anything.
The voices that came with your brain are not personal.
Think universally – not locally.
Give all ideas the possibility of life.
Don’t think of ordinary people as creatures who think.
Real thinking is never prejudiced.
Consume, digest, then transcend all opposites.
There’s more going on in men’s ordinary lives than any ordinary man realizes.
Do not allow yourself to become a noun.
Abandon all forms of mental entanglements with your parents.
You can’t be a conduit for ordinary forces.
Make Life your ally.
Keep an unnatural inner spin on yourself.
Beware of the b-chain (the because chain).
If you don’t have an undying commitment to The Aim – you don’t have the aim.
Don’t draw unprofitable attention to yourself.
Learn to think without examples.
Examine your emotions locally – and realize their irrelevance universally.
Don’t let yourself be captured by words.
Never look back.
Let none of the native voices in your brain speak for you personally.
Don’t laugh aloud at anyone’s beliefs, and ignore their so-called thinking.
Always smile.
To
cure a situation that displeases you:
change your actions just enough
that you’re aware of it.
Use the opposite hand.
Illness is not a hobby (nor an interesting personality trait).
Be prepared to do anything the voices don’t want to do.
Starve emotions of the word-energy that makes you feel you’re on a sinking ship.
Engage in no rear-guard actions.
The mechanical “you” in you should never be listened to.
Constantly consider the ordinary.
There are no solutions to intangible problems.
Find the unseen spaces between ideas, between mental inhalation and exhalation, where things new and astounding can be found.
You don’t learn to be tolerant – you just are tolerant.
Do something that is non rehearsed.
No one can provide you with understanding.
Don’t wander around out of focus.
Be an active supporter of Life’s continued good health.
It’s up to you to do everything that it’s up to you to do.
Fuck the past.
If you put a name on it – you’ve misnamed it.
No form of criticism leads to understanding.
Something’s
wrong if Life
is more mature in any area than you are;
at
minimum concerning any matter, you have to be as awake as everyone else.
Pretend
you know-what-you’re-doing; don’t say
you do; just pretend.
