If You're
Not Privately Smilin'

“Do
you want to know the simple, direct way to achieve enlightenment?”
“Yes.”
“You
know the talk you hear in your head?”
“Yes.”
“Don’t
listen to it.”
“Do you mean…”
“Don’t
listen to it.”
“But I wanted to ask you specifically…”
“I
know what you want to ask, but I only have one thing to say:
Don’t
listen to it – any
of it --
period!”
A
curious footnote to this is that even if you didn’t follow his suggestion,
but
rather just thought through this idea to its conclusion,
that
alone would shake you from your present state of consciousness;
is
that not interesting: like a medicine you’re handed that you never take,
yet
just the exhaustive pondering of the bottle gets the job done.
(“I suppose this should be telling me something quite explosive about my…”
Yes
it should.)
How
Mind Works.
Says
one man: “Even though some people believe it is imaginary:
the
way I know that Heaven actually exists is that everyone who believes in
it,
knows
exactly what it looks like.”
“(Wow! – what if mind ever knew the same about its own operations!”)
A
man asked his brother: “Have you noticed that only unglamorous women
condemn
photography glamorizing beautiful women?” --
to
which his sibling responded:
“And
that only the sleeping attack those wanting to awaken?”
Ordinary
people have nothing but their looks;
talented
people, nothing but their art;
rich
people, nothing but their wealth,
while
the man-who-knows has nothing -- which is to say that
the
man-who-knows has it all -- which is to say: nothing.

“Why
isn’t speech considered one of our senses?”
“Because senses are facilities for taking in information,
not spewing it out as talk does.”
“Ah!
– how little you understand my friend.”
Regarding The Mythical Train Journey 'Tween Mundane-Paris & Awakened-Istanbul:
After
years of striving to make himself: “dot every i and cross
every t”
one
man says his position now is to use as little as possible words
containing
either of these two letters.
Question:
In how many forms comes progress? --
and speaking of grammar:
there’s
this other guy who can’t speel worth a shit.
Definition.
It’s ironic when someone else does it;
a technological error when it happens to you.
One

“Never

Man,
His Thoughts, And The Notion Of Free Will: The Final Word.
There
was once a boat,
that
had a wheel,
that
was lashed to its rudder.
(“Was that really the final word?”
Do
the sirens hold fee simple title to the rocks?
“Are you referring to: being-ship-wrecked-by-listening-to-your-own-voice?”)
For the man wishing to make the great metaphysical journey:
One man’s
stance:
“The
best thing about making notes to yourself is throwing them away.
If upon
hearing, reading or thinking a certain thing
I feel
it is of such importance that I most certainly should remember it,
but
fear that without writing it down, I won’t,
should
that fact alone be informing me of something significant?”
“Do you mean about the sorts of things you find important or about you?”
“What
kind of smart-ass comment is that!”
Cosmological
Update: There is a spot in the universe whereat are produced
all
comments for which there is no meaningful response.
“Where exactly?”
Much
closer than you’re probably imagining.
Employing
the well used royal self reference: one man,
often
after saying something that proved inappropriate, would mutter to himself:
“We
are not amused,”
then
one day his self suddenly spoke up: “Where do you get this ‘we’
stuff!”
In
music news a father said to a son:
“You're
not a true composer unless you do both the words and music.”
(It's
assumed you understand the actual sort of songwriting that's being referred
to.)
People who enjoy talking about their self
At certain times,
in certain struggles,
inaction and silence are the proper approach;
this is true both externally and otherwise.

Once
you see what life is really about: cutting back on talk is no longer a
problem.
