In
noting the inclination both in himself and others to moderation and melancholy
with
the advancement of age, one chap says he believes he could still be having
fun
if
only he hadn’t already worn out his liver.
(He
says at one time he thought this about his mind, but has decided that
laying
it off on the liver is more expedient and socially acceptable.)
“People
just don’t care much to hear the mind talked about in ways like that.”
And
his brother chimed in: “Maybe mama was right:
that
having fun alone in your room will
make you go blind,”
a
sentiment funny to the few in that they find just the opposite to be so:
that
not
seeking neural pleasure independently of the herd causes their eyes
to
glaze over and them to sleepwalk, near blind and deaf through life.
Don’t
engage in serious conversations with other people
if
you don’t want to ever appear stupid,
and
don’t do so with your own thoughts if you don’t want to sleep.
After
twenty years of delivering daily lectures about achieving enlightenment,
and
conducting question and answer sessions afterwards,
a
man was discovered to be a deaf mute.
The
man-who-knows may sound guileless in his speech but he knows where ordinary
minds will perceive potential guile to lurk
in his words.
From
our: Un Published Book Of Un Thought-of
Proverbs.
Silence
is to stupidity as aggression is to defense.
Polarized
thought is, by its own electrical nature, indecisive and unstable --
it
thus enjoys a comfortable niche in the hearts of dedicated prisoners and
cows.
You
Can (A Poem).
You can:
cut your own hair,
pull your own teeth,
break your own heart,
give yourself grief;
tell yourself no,
tell yourself yes,
lean on doctrine,
go with a guess;
you can:
think you believe,
and believe that you think,
and dream of getting sober,
while still clutching drink.
This little rhyme,
may first sound oblique,
its message is: You can’t wake up,
if that’s you laying there asleep.
(“Quick!
-- someone call the
Pooch Police; my invisible dog is back
chasing the imaginary traffic whizzing past my frontal lobes porch.”)
You
can civilize almost anything – except the mind of a man who
can think independently of the herd.
(“Pa pa: should the activity that occurs in your head in awakening
be called thinking,
or would: seeing
be more accurate?”)
Says
one fellow: “Why continue to distract ourselves: let’s be blunt about the
matter: The rudimental and ultimate problem with all words is the definitions.”
The
thinking native to men’s minds pondering life’s great questions is like
putting additional wrapping on a gift box you are attempting to open.
In
the beginning: all who would wake up say to their self:
"If
I just knew exactly what
to do --
I would do it," and never come to realize that
they
can't be so instructed. "Bum-mer!
--
Letdown!" they would say
--
IF
they could be told this in the beginning.
There
are two, and only
two types of people: Those who
like
to talk about their self
"Dear
Dr. Exacto:
After you have laughed at everything you once thought to be serious --
then what?"
"Dear
Sir: Once some men went into business together:
some
of the business lasted --
some of it did not --
there is your: 'then what?'"
One
man played with words --
until he grew up!
(Note:
Men do not normally grow up.)

Noted
a man: “Over ninety nine per cent of the world's population
belong
to a secret organization – Oops!
– sorry, guess I shouldn’t have said that:
you’re
part of that other half a per cent, right?!”
(Some people
bring their own egg salad and abuse to the picnic.)
Even
when he had no intention of not repeating himself,
this
one guy would still often say to himself: “I’m
not going to tell you again!”
(Some
people bring their own delusions and haints to halloween.)

There
can be no peace in prison.
(Everyone
brings their own disruptions with them.
Accuracy
Alert! Everyone comes into existence
with their own disturbances.)
A
father advised a son:
“Pick
one thing and stick to it! –
then
forget it and find a new one and stick to it (and on like that.)”
For
the man on the right track: everything
is: “and like that.”
Things
thought of to be spiritual or metaphysical are neither difficult nor easy
(here’s
how it really goes); you either think you have achieved them,
or
else you think you have not – neat, huh?!
Above
his porch one man has hung a sign: “Only
Superman Need Apply,”
(and vocally
adds: “Since only he
can understand.”)
If
every day is a holiday that no one recognizes but you –
you
may be on the right road.
