Conversation.
“Whereas ordinary people might say that your luck has not completely run out
until death is holding a straight flush,
the man struggling to get-to-the-bottom-of-things might see the situation with
stupidity replacing death at the table.”
“Would you clarify what you mean specifically by the word, stupidity?”
“Mentally running on automatic.”
“So it has nothing to do with education, or sophistication?”
“No –  merely a matter of whether a man accepts the thoughts that automatically appear in his brain as being what HE knows and understands;
from a certain minority view: this is the real stupidity: normal for ordinary men,
but totally inadequate for understanding what is going on with life.”

A clay fragment recently found in the newly discovered ruins of a long forgotten outpost boasts (in hieroglyphics) this message:
“Being awake is similar to: not caring, but not for those who are bothered by the idea.”

In routine conversation not one man in a billion attempts to actually convey information; what ordinary people do is try to make some point  –
which they discovered magically appearing in their brain.

The civilized (tucked safely away in city prisons) do not fear the most barbarous of philosophies as much as they do the barbarous among them who have no philosophy.
Cows will tolerate someone taking their bread and butter as long as the knaves seem to know which side their bread is buttered on.

Not-caring is not as simple as it sounds when you live in confinement.

One ole sorehead offers his latest definition:
“Life is an illness without a cause.”
(As the old folks like to say: “Out of the mouths of snakes come hisses.”)
A chap inquires:
“If it weren’t for being able to repeat what someone else has
already thought and said, what would the stupid ever have to say?!”
“But that is just the point: relying on stupidity in the sense employed here today
is to have constant, instant access to an infinite reservoir of already thought, said
and tested ideas which no individual human ever actually thought of on their own;
it's like being thrown into the midst of a Ferrari owner’s rally and having no knowledge of that automobile, yet being able to open your mouth and your tongue automatically speaks the kind of words that those there will find acceptable.”
“Is that why no serious study of any religion is needed to become
      a follower thereof?”
“What word would reasonably describe the belief that you need an actual ticket
to ride in Santa Claus’ sleigh.”
     “Stupid?”
“Okay all you huskies: if we’re gonna go for a run this morning, repeat after moi:
‘If it automatically comes to mind in a man’s ordinary state of consciousness
it is  –   WHAT?’”
“DOG FOOD!” they all replied,                                  (and in a trice, they were off real nice.)

From amidst the din, smoke, stench and chaos on the battlefield
a voice cried out: “Live by the body  –  die by the body!” quickly followed by a mutter: “Hey!  –   I’m in the wrong conflict.”
Fact: Knowing who your enemies are does you no good if you have no enemies.
A man wrote to himself in prison and asked:
“Does it really do you any good to know anything  in here?!”

Just as the immortals are oblivious to death  –
those-who-know never think about not knowing.

Not being stupid while in prison may sound doable, but...............................................

When laying in his bed in his house by the sea
one salty captain would hear the pounding waves and think:
“Aye! –  we make good time tonight.”

The whole idea of getting-somewhere while in confinement should (for the few)
     be subject to much question.

An acquaintance of the supra noted sorehead adds to the stew
his characterization of the subject at hand:
“Life is like an effect without a cause.”

The last stop on the Not Caring Highway is in not caring what your natural born mind thinks of either caring, or not.
“Pa pa: is this related to what you call: consciousness-without-comment?”
    “Either that or: traffic-passing-by-with-no-porch-in-sight.”
The reason the city requires a chauffeur's license apart from the one issued for regular driving is to minimize the possibility of certain men ferrying themselves around.

Passion And Prognostications.
It is easier to feel confident in your predictions if they are made while you are pissed about the matter you’re speaking of.
(“Is this why men speak so much about themselves?”)

In the restricted area of the prison library in an unpublished legal dictionary
is this entry: “Life: The supreme suspect in all unsolved cases.”

The reason the city requires that ordinary men obtain a chauffeur's license apart from that one
they have for routine driving is to minimize the possibility of them driving themselves crazy.
