To
show that he is still hip and on top of things, one man starts each day
by
pointing
to himself in his medicine chest mirror and declaring:
“Okay
– show your love and give it up for the young man who's the star of our
show!”
(He
also announces at the end of each broadcast day that in his hiring practices,
he
does not discriminate on the basis of any handicap –
even
the one he so exemplifies.)
One
man was so impressed by an ad for a stop smoking program that assures:
“We
understand that you can’t do it by yourself,” that he joined up
--
even
though he didn’t smoke,
(noting
he): “We should all do what we can to encourage others in creative efforts,
even
when they be but verbal.”
A
father advised a son:
“You
need a closed off room in which to toss things:
one
you don’t normally see so that you don't feel obliged to keep it neat.”
“You are talking about an actual room in your house, right?”
(The
kid always was a little kidder.)
One
man’s suggestion:
“If
you’re in prison: always use the cheapest version of whatever you need
in there.”
Fact.
No
one has any hesitancy in shaving someone else's face with the dullest of
razors.
Conversation.
“I
heard it speculated that an awakened man either has the world’s best memory,
or
none at all.”
“Why do you call it speculation?”
One
guy says he’s begun to sense a certain dynamic whereby the more you have
a lock on life, the more firmly it has you in tow.
(“I guess two good dance partners embrace each other with equal force.”)
The
ole timer told the kid the following tale:
“There
was a guy who wrote and talked about waking up who never became
as
famous as he thought he would and finally wrote a story about a man
who
talked about waking up who never became famous and who finally
explained
his failure as being caused by him being so
awake that
others
could not comprehend what he was saying,
which
in him writing such a tale he figured would lead his readers to think
it
was certainly not about him --
or else he surely would not have written it,
which
would keep them from realizing how bitter he was over his lack of popularity.”
“Wow! – pretty slick!”
“Yeah,
but it didn’t have that effect –
the
people who read his stuff were too dense to make such a connection.”
“But he could have added the part about them being that dumb like you just
did.”
“Yeah,
you’re right – he could have.”
The
operating attitude of ordinary prisoners is to criticize and make fun of
the
others also stuck there.
Once
during a typical time a man thought:
“If
it
were any more obvious, everyone would see it” which is not true for two
reasons: one: because it couldn’t be
more obvious, and two:
even
if it were, people still will never see it.
For
ordinary prisoners to get by in the joint it is damn near de
rigueur that they
become
attached to some institution.
A
visually impaired captive finds useful the guidance of groups of his peers
who collectively pretend to be otherwise.
In
a recently rediscovered lost city this message was found scrawled on a
long forgotten wall: “Before he awakens, when a man talks about awakening,
everyone
understands what he means, but after he does awaken, no one can any longer
grasp what he is talking about when he speaks on the matter.”
“Say pop: did the guy you mentioned earlier also write that story?”
“A
reasonable suspicion.”
Another
neat feature of the prison dance is that the submissive can blame all their
ills and misfortunes on the corruption of the dominant.
Isn't
that sweet?! --
and indeed doubly so in that no one ever notices it!
(And
everyone yelled back: "Wow!
-- is it EVER!"
--
until
they were somehow able to think about it for a split second.)
A
disbarred prison counselor says:
“Anyone
here who enjoys being photographed is either a female or nuts --
I’m
sorry, I’m a trained professional and should not speak like that:
they
are either female or a model prisoner.”
Graffito
discovered in an empty cell:
“Love
stories require two characters;
great
ones – three;
beyond
that – who has the cojones to think about it?!”
The
conscious part of the brain routinely produces a numerical illusion.
One
of the requirements for being a model prisoner is to not hesitate
to
talk about being afraid.
Irony
is second base for those who just got to second base for the first time.
When
one man heard: “There’s no place like home,”
he
whispered a silent prayer of thanks.
(Civilized
residency laws forbid men being told they are born in prison.
“Well after all! – the poor dears deserve
some consideration!”)
The
mortal prison needs no walls; the ordinary are held captive by words;
the
freed mind remembers: What goes
up – can be walked away from.
(Only
the deeply dyed civilized will remain in a jail that may not even want
them.)
T.S.T.L.
Most
people in prison do not care to hear the matter discussed – (to
say the least).
(But
nevertheless here is your): Comfy Thought
For The Day:
All
ideas of being in prison originated in the conscious part of someone's
brain
(as
do all notions of escape.)
Another
installment of: How To Do It.
If
you want to protect yourself from seeing what is actually going on
–
just
keep acting like you do.
(That’s
how you take care of THAT!)
Escaping
the confinement comes not from thinking about it,
but
in relentlessly remembering that it is not you there,
but
the conscious part of the brain.

The reason sheep aren't imprisoned is that they have only sheep consciousness.
