THE COMEDIC SIDE OF CITY LIFE ELUDES CITY DWELLERS

The Journal Devoted Exclusively To The Outlier's Private Joke

Says one man:
“If you do not have a cause for which you would blow yourself up,
perhaps you can arrange to have a blow up for which you would cause yourself  --
(of course then the question is: ‘Cause yourself to do what?’)”
In some places: Purnabout is tair flay  --   (but certainly not on this planet.)
Notes one man in a completely unrelated area:
“Nothing matches Official Outrage --   (unless it is the private variety.)”

One man offers: “The ancient notion that kings and priests huddle in sacred chambers in consultation with the gods offers two disturbing possibilities:
one is that they secreted themselves for a bit, had a few drinks and
laughed about the people’s willingness to believe such a story,
and two is that they believed they really did such a thing.”
(“Such a matter: people,” he concluded.)

Information coming from institutions is never unbiased in that they are committed to their own survival  --  no matter the cost to independent thinking.

Tangling-with, chasing-after the thoughts of others  --
you will never discover what real thinking is.

In prisoners, minds are more easily made up-tight than even sphincters.
Notes one man in a completely unrelated matter:
“Nothing matches institutionally sanctioned scares  (unless it be the self induced sort.)”

Every day is different for the man who sticks to the plan.
("So!  --  this can be that  --  even though they are two different words!")

If there’s one thing one guy really dislikes it’s getting on the bad side of himself.
(He always was a kidder.)
Fact.
No one finds a certain thing as funny as does the man-who-knows-what’s-going-on.
(“And I take it that you are not going to say what that thing is?!”
See --  not everyone is as slack as they may appear.
[“Well I’ll be deep fried and gooberfied,” reacts one ole timer to this news.])

Prisoners (to help maintain what they see as their sanity) will hold on to any idea
(no matter how ridiculous) that offers a positive view of captivity.
(The preceding public service announcement was brought to you courtesy of a grant from the brothers Pre & Pro Hensile.)

If you’re pretty well pissed it’s pretty safe to assume that you’re pretty well done for.
(The Chafed & Completion Game.)

If you understand what you are doing: via words you can make something
seem to make sense  --  or make it seem to not make sense
regardless of whether it actually makes sense or not.
(Bedazzled & Brushed  --   as in: Off.)

There are two ways to be captured by other people’s ideas:
by either accepting  --  or rejecting them.

Only a hermit is free  --  and even he’s not if people know where he lives.

In one city their slogan is: “If It Isn’t Verbally Funny To Us  --  It’s Not Funny.”

Handling your affairs with a minimum of effort is exemplified by the lungs,
and an independent mind.

When told he could cash-in-his-chips, one chap thought: “For what?!”

A reader writes to say that he would be much more impressed by
the news reported here if it didn’t change every day.

A man who can’t put pauses between his thoughts either doesn’t know
how to pause  --  or maybe: how to think.
Some men are carried further by the silence between cars than by the train itself.
“If it ain’t a’separatin’  --  it’s a’joinin’ ” noted a butcher
who could look in two directions.
(The name of the place is: Cut & Run: The Bloodied’s Shop Of Choice.)

A mental accident waiting to happen
can be a positive possibility to the independently minded.

The Wondrous Tale of It.
On one world: they never hold it against you.

Non partisan thinking is the x ray glasses needed to peer through slop (also illusory slop).

The ordinary mind’s attitude is: “Why bother to tell a story if I am not the center of it.”

An ole sorehead says  the only things he hates worse than inanimate objects are  --  yep  --  you guessed it.    (“If it talks  --  scorn it!  --  that's my motto,” he adds:
an approach you could take not only toward others, but your own reflex mind as well.)

Believing that there are several ways to do anything (including a wrong one)
keeps most from trying anything new.
“You mean like: skydiving in a barrel?”
“And thinking about some matter outside a binary backdrop?”
“Dear pa pa: When I get grown can I be the man shot out of the cannon?”
“What I have in mind for you is to be the cannon.”
“Ahhhhh!  --  dear sweet pa pa.”

No one else’s ideas are ever on an independent mind’s agenda.
One man’s body shop takes in no cars but his.
“But how can such an operation stay in business?”
Autogenesis.
“But that is a scientifically discarded concept.”
Yes, but watch the mind you were born with and see if it has gotten the message.
Fact: life is called many things,
but never remembered is that it is what causes the callers to so call.
(How can you say anything bad about a thing [life] that must totally fend for itself  --
--  and does so most admirably.)

In another reality, whenever he was unsure what to do next,
their local god would: make an announcement!
(A spokesman for earthly neural networks noted that it was probably propitious that such was not true in his domain.)

One guy’s latest motto is: “Everyone should have to be normal  --  except ME!”
