THE CITY PERMITS THOSE BEING CONFINED TO CONTEND OTHERWISE

The Slippery Scandal Sheet That Don't Put The Shuck On Nobody

The purpose of man’s institutions is to assist him in not thinking;
sheep at sea are able to more easily ignore that the ship is sinking
if they are part of a large tour group.
“That’s right:   I --we  --  can't actually be drowning or else some of the others
would notice it too!”
This is why the Hormel family (guided by their deep sensitivity to the bovinian need for camaraderie) do not send steers to their great reward one at a time in solitude,
but rather amidst a mass spectacular like those so popular with city dwellers.
Only the man who figures out what’s really going on gets a casket all to himself.
The true traveler’s tacit slogan:
“We may all crash together, but I can only fly alone.”

A father said to a son:
“Here’s another example of: How Mind Works.
A man who had a radio show and wanted to appear hip,
(yet made constant verbal faux passes) started to periodically misspeak in a manner which clearly conveyed that he did it intentionally and meant it as a joke
so that whenever he did make an unintentional blunder his audience would assume
he was just being funny again.”
“Some guy was really that sharp?”
“Not really, but now that I’ve described it, somebody’ll sure as hell do it  --
‘cause: That’s How Mind Works.”

On all common mental shores are always two figures waving and shouting:
“Over here!  --  over here!” (or at other times):  “No!  --  over here!”
Two into one will go, and one into two will go,
but three won’t go anywhere that makes sense to an ordinary man.

Professional Quote Of The Day.
“What can be better than having a job treating something that is incurable!”
Question: Who do you think said that: an oncologist or a spiritual teacher?
(“Believe me: It doesn’t get any better than having people pay you to tell them
       that their lawnmower makes noise.”)
On another world they devote one day a year to the celebration of: The Obvious.

Forget brutal dictators; debilitating illness; widespread famine; financial depression; corrupt politics, and W.M.D.s,
what men everywhere detest more than anything is: I.O.H. -- interruption of habit.

The real-deal-man’s mind tells him more than he tells other people.

The fact that books mean so much to men  --
and particularly to those considered the most intelligent  --
gives you the full, sorry truth about man’s intelligence and desire to think.

Those who try to make general humanity feel better by praising them for qualities
they do not have  --  couldn’t get jobs as shills in Vegas.

Poetic Commentary On Circular Sojourns.
By the light switch on a bathroom wall in a well known city bistro stands this graffito:
“Warp and woof,
   warp and woof,
     so sews the see saw of rugs;

       up and down,
        round and round,
from thieves to saints to thugs.”

Regardless of the spectacles staged to distract: all conveyances from conventional ports soon return the would be travelers back to their place of debarkation.
The city does not sanction movement that interrupts inner habit;
you must locate the rebels’ intangible underground railroad for that
(and of course be fit yourself to take advantage thereof.)

Definition.
City Institutions: Places for prisoners to gather and discuss  --  DISCUSS  --  escape.

News Regarding Some Form Of Health.
When you're passively part of a herd:
what makes everyone else sick will make you ill also.
("Shouldn't I consider it the pits to die from what kills everyone else --
when it's always imaginary?" asks one synapse.)

If you encounter a man of unusual insight, you should ask him what books he reads
(if you and he are of ordinary intelligence).

The more you grasp  --  the more uninteresting become the unoriginal.

Man’s collective mind is like a gigantic intellectual operation presided over by pigmies.

In all prison activities (cultural, social or spiritual) there will be at least one participant who is gradually going crazy  --  some poor schmuck who takes it all seriously.

Regarding Real Reasons.
Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body: entertainment.

Some critics of commerce say that criminals can be more easily rehabilitated
than can businessmen since the latter are erroneously deemed to be engaged in
activity of a respectable sort.
The few may feel free to apply this to distinctions that can be drawn in your own mental activity.
(Sometimes to keep from getting it men will profess: “I don’t get it?!?”)

In the city: everyone is stupid  --
but none more so than those taking city affairs seriously.

Opportunities for financial speculation are always set up by those who will
undoubtedly profit therefrom;
not unlike the situation of men presenting known, inane ideas for public consideration.

Everything that can ever happen to you, you can find already represented in
the narrative playing naturally in your head  --  save two.

To appear to know anything about some intangible matter you must speak of it solemnly.
No one gave the brothers Grimm a second glance until they started
telling their stories in a serious voice.
(P.S. This is also why institutions don’t take no shit.)

The only thing not a metaphor for something else is eating.
(Before men became so civilized, fucking was also.)
Hormones can’t ever leave you, but neurons often seem to want them to.
(“Hey Harry, flag that train down for us.”
“I would, but I don’t even know what it’s doing on this river.”)

Serious men require silly instructions  --  which of course, they take seriously.

Good News Discovery.
The more you stare the more you’ll feel like you’re going to eventually explode.

Spotter’s Guide Via Fashion.
The certain man is he who does not wear his unmentionables below the waist.

Said a man:
“The upside to having a fatal ill is that any other physical problems
that may appear after that are meaningless; it’s as though you’ve become invincible! (except of course for that one minor problem),”
and his siamese twin mused: “I see something similar in the intangible region of my body concerning the realization that therein I am fatally asleep and living in a dream.  It’s truly nice how everything eventually ties together.”
Question: What is there to suggest that life is weaving a carpet destined to unravel?
“Nothing save my mind  --  which certainly seems to be doing so.”
An easy one: In what color does a man with pink eye see life?

Part of all institutions’ appeal lies in the intellect's predilection for predictability.

The man who has seen and thus escaped,
has no interest in where prison walls once stood.
Free of yourself  --  you forget about yourself.
Only dyed-in-the-percale sleepers remain spooked by Casper
after his sheet has been removed.
A mole said to his weasel: “Man! --  you’ve got to really love it down here
to keep coming back after you’ve been above ground.”
Remember: If hippos couldn’t fly they wouldn’t tolerate all that jabber
from the parrots on their back.
“Are you trying to say something about me listening to me?  Wait -- I’m sorry,
I know that should have been: Me listening to the apparent me,
(or is that the: apparrot me?)”

In a land where rangy brains,
 sustain sub hunger pains,
  it’s food with no center,
   the few have for dinner,
that’s how they maintain their lean.

Medical Curio.
The sleeping are the fattest.
“Why is that curious: does not their lack of activity dictate such?!”
Ah! --  but they all dream that they’re exemplary of an active and vital life.
Additional Physiological Peculiarity.
The mind can be overweight.
(“Boy! --  that’s all I need: Fat facts!”)
In contemporary musical terms: the outlier’s thinking is: Unplugged .

When someone would make a comment which they obviously thought was meaningful, and would look expectantly to him for a response, one man would routinely reply:
“What you say could certainly be true, but also consider the possibility of
_________  (you fill in the blank)” he'd add.
Finally someone to whom he said this realized that the thing in them that
made the comment IS the blank.

The Mathematics Of It.
In consciousness it requires two minds to actually think --  but only one to go astray.

   Collateral Note.
All human institutions are of one mind  --  they must be.

      Additional Dictum.
To be blind and serious requires you be singled minded.
(“But doesn’t everyone already know that?!.........................................oh! --  I get it.”)

Post Script: In case it hasn't already hit you: Life is the ultimate institution.
