THE MINDS OF THE MANY AGREE THAT
SOMETHING  IS GOING ON (?!?)

Stories That (For The Few) Report On The Something
 APRIL 6, 2004                                                                          ©2004: JAN COX

One man offers this advice for all would-be gurus and spiritual sages:
“You will never gather a following unless you seem either angry or blissfully goofy.”
And someone inquires:
“So what does that make their followers?”
“How the hell should I know!”
“Whoa!  --  you almost got me with that one.”

Conversation.
“Most people don’t like a know-it-all.”
“You mean those people who don’t know it all?”
“Of course.”
Navigational Note:
You can’t be off course if you understand the real meaning of: “of-course.”

The stronger the feeling that your picture of life doesn’t mean anything,
the more you want to believe that: “It is bigger than just me.”
Massive historical movements have been started on nothing more -- all of them in fact.

Metaphysical Colloquy Concerning Hope.
“If all you have is hope  --  then you have nothing.”
    “I have a ’67 Corvette.”
“Well.....excluding that.”

Near his last birthday one man composed and dedicated a song to himself:
“You’re Someone I Used To Love  --   But Now Know.”
And a son asked a father:
“Is getting used to yourself the same as knowing yourself?”
“It’s according to how old you know you are.”
Fact.
Weary hormones easily pass for wise neurons past unwary minds.

Dialogue.
“In what ordinary men/minds think of as The Great Metaphysical sense:
A man-who-knows is so shallow he’s deep.”
    “Can that really be?”
“It can.”
”But not so that my mind can probably grasp, huh?”
“I dunno  --  what do you think?”

Potential Alternative Employment Of Sexual Terminology.
Is a man-who-knows a: Mental pervert?

Confabulation.
“Have you noticed,” queried a web-head,” that pop-ups appear constantly
in your mind?”
    “You mean: annoying pop-ups.”
“Huh!  --  really?  --  they bother you?!?”

Meaningful Meteorology.
No matter the weather (both actual and metaphorical):
struggling to awaken is an overcoat, scarf and gloves to the certain man's consciousness & nervous system.

In Response To Some Home Improvements Advertising.
For the real-deal-man there’s only one type of interior paint that will
look good for years to come.

A father said to a son:
“The reason it can be validly said that men do not see what is going on
(in the intangible realm that is, for every normal person sees quite well what goes on
in the physical one [or else they would be dead])
is because consciousness is programmed to follow words  --
and thus it watches --  not what is going on, but what words say is going on;
it does not observe the actual activities in the mind and its wholly created
non physical, other reality, but rather is affixed to the mind’s descriptions thereof:
a situation so fraught with obvious self-interest that it is clearly unreliable.

As you read or listen to others talk:
consciousness is programmed to follow the words;
it sticks to them like eyes in a pitch black place, destined by their nature
to trail after an ever moving beam of light which illuminates but one thought at a time.
An approach to enlarging your consciousness to get to the bottom of things
is to turn your attention away from what is being automatically lit in your mind,
and to the surrounding darkness in which it appears:
listen to the pitch blackness in your head and not the words.”

If what ordinary men call knowledge was a sexual matter:
in the area of S & M  --  it would be: M.

Warning!
If you can have thoughts  --  you will have thoughts  --  so: WATCH IT!
If an ordinary person hears this and instantly grasps its significance,
they are no longer totally ordinary.
And some people who live in the Gingerbread section of the city inject:
“You’re just saying that to make us feel good,”
and a guy from the Goodyear side of town responds:
"What does being ordinary have to do with: feeling good?!”
And one more thing: in the contest:
“Who’s The Stupidest: Those Who Give Warnings, Or Those Who Take Them?"
you’ll be pleased to learn that they are both winners!                         (Yea! --  for the wieners.)
And now: The Bonus Round Question:
What is better than: literate, sophisticated, insightful sarcasm? –
PRETEND, literate, sophisticated, insightful sarcasm.
And a former contestant asks: “So why even bother with it in the first place?!”
(How did such a mind get eliminated so early from the contest?!)
Some Gym Floor Medical News.
Bent mentally over far enough  --  everyone can bite their own ass.

Then There's This Guy: (Part 1).
The Oh So Human Side Of Ordinary Mortals As Reflected In Their Behavior,
Joined To Their Own Adages, Clichés, and Truisms About Themselves,
For The Pleasure & Edification Of Those NOT So Ordinarily Minded.

Then there's this guy:
Who refuses to admit it.
Who never lets it get him down.................(well, hardly ever).
Who thinks the “work ethic” --  unethical.
Who has been around more than one block  --  more than once.
Who gives as good as he gives.
Who is always fooled by cheap tricks and gimmicks.
Who practice never perfected.
Whose very name rings nothing in the hearts of his fellow man.
Who says that: “The half of it ain’t even the half of it!”
Whose number continually seems damn near up.
Whose claim to fame is his singular, nay: outstanding lack of talent.
Who has recently taken to calling himself: “I”.
To whom dependent clauses mean almost nothing.
Who now wishes he’d given more thought to it.
Who declared that he would: “Hold out to the end!” ....(and  quickly added that: “The end is near!”)
With a beaver named Floyd.
Not yet set in his or anyone else’s ways.
Who never takes anything personally...........(well, almost never).
Whose private parts proved to not be all that private.
Whose clothes tell the whole, sordid story.
To whom making hard choices comes as easy as being haplessly indecisive.
Who never says die.........(except for that one time).
Who never appears in public with himself.
Apparently not long for this or any other world.
Whose life is mostly taken up by living.
Whose reach exceeds everyone’s grasp.
Who has damn near made a career of it.
And then there's this guy who (for reasons best, if not only known to him) believes that Einstein's brain is still alive  --  and the man himself pickled on someone’s shelf.
