The Outlier's Guide To His Only Profitable Trade
 APRIL 3, 2004                                                                         © 2004: JAN COX

Ordinary people are interested in what other people think of them,
(actually only what they say about them); this clearly helps stabilize the herd;
a man trying to get to the bottom of things is only interested in thinking;
not the matters about which his and other men’s minds naturally think,
but thinking itself  -- which (un faced by everyone else) is the creator of all the matters about which all ordinary minds think.
Consider and relish in the globgubberishness of it all:
an éclair eating machine made of naught but éclairs,
(or for you of a more sardonic bent):
a sewage treatment plant that produces all of the sewage it treats;
only in Life can this stunning wrap-aroundedness be found.
    “How about human consciousness?”
Well  --  that also  --  and it is the also upon which
the certain man soars far away from the confines of man’s normal herd-mind.

One guy says: “I can’t believe I was so stupid and it took me so long to figure out how much easier it is to just tell those who’re interested that you’re awake and enlightened than it is to try to be so  --  and how the hell can they tell that you’re not!"
“But couldn’t someone tell who is actually awake?!”
“Well they wouldn’t care to begin with.”

Fame: From the Certain Man’s View.
If you understand how life works you can't ever be impressed by
anyone who is impressed by you.
When you realize what is going on you cannot any longer think stupid;
you can physically act stupid  --  even be stupid about specific matters,
but you cannot then think stupid:
stupid thoughts (that is: ordinary ones) that still appear in your head,
your newly sized consciousness does not take seriously.

After much reflection on the differences between the two spheres of: wants, and needs (as exemplified for instance by physical hunger) a man mused:
“You can respond to the stomach's call in two ways: either by making it full,
or by making you satisfied.”
He paused  --  pondered further  --  then asked himself is there not a similar situation regarding the feeding of the mind?  --  but concluded there is not.
“To what end,” he later weighed,” should a wolf nourish the very trap from which
he wishes to extract his confined foot?!”

Many mornings (acting as his own crack reporter)
one man looks at himself in the bathroom mirror and asks:
“So tell us sir: exactly what would  you do in life  --   if you were not in a coma?”
(A comment from which at least he and the commode usually get a good guffaw.)

Pop Music: Inside Prison And Out.
Your body gives you the blues; your mind furnishes the lyrics,
and the real-deal-man always turns them into sarcastic satires of themselves.  “Aw-w-w!  --  poor little Big Chief Candy Ass has found out he's dying  --  Aw-w-w!”

Based on their talk: ordinary people find what they think interesting  --
which tells you how ordinary their thoughts are.

The senses that don't sense themselves are the ones of value to the outlier.

A brief (though blunt) definition in both diplomatic and financial terms
of a man who is trying to get to the bottom of things and turn that certain corner:
An anomaly without portfolio.
(And bearing the international slogan: “Wherever he goes  --  there he is.”)

Real Combat Report.

                                                          Rumors of war abound,
                                                          rumors about rumors,
                                                          make no sound.

One man was suddenly stopped in his tracks with the realization:
“If reality could  actually be put into words  --
the dictionary wouldn’t keep growing and changing.”
A check point in the road to turning that certain corner is in recognizing that
the growth professed by men in their understanding of the many intangible matters
of such interest to them  --   is specious.
“But pa pa: is not an illusion accepted by all as real  --  real?!”
“Si, my boy.
                      O si,
                      si si rider,
just si/see what you have done....”

A man on one world has gotten a sizable portion of the population seriously considering adopting as their planetary maxim:
“Looking out for Number One can MAKE you number one.”
Even without the support of physical space craft:
the nervous system rebel can sail far away on just the word/vehicle: can.
Notes a father to a son:
“Not realizing a certain possibility is the cause of the coma.”
“But in those spiritual, psychological, artistic and intellectual worlds
so beloved by man: does anything actually cause anything else.”
“No  --  but without the use of that word in the sentence its intent would not show at all.
Even when words mean nothing  --  to the certain man’s eye, they mean something,  indeed: often a great deal.”

Having a snappy slogan, or impressive sounding statement-of-purpose
definitely helps hide a lack of any ability, creativity or understanding;
just look at man’s sundry public institutions  --  upon which the ordinary depend.

Medical News Regarding Fertility Of A Special Sort For The Special Few.
A certain part of one man’s consciousness wants to be an egg donor.

Fast Food News.
Peering off past the horizon and present state of human awareness
can be nearly pictured as a place where chickens can order buckets of colonels to go.

The Proponents Of The Past  have a clean, cushy job  --  downright downy  --
while The Friends Of The Future  must continually slug it out in
the muddy trenches of the yet-to-be.

One man has a brother who will only eat in the dark;
he himself will only go to the bathroom in the dark
(he offers no explanation  --  saying that none is needed).

Conversation.
“Even though readers commonly find that a writer with whom they are quite impressed does not in person match their expectations  --  still:
when a man’s mind spawns extraordinary words and ideas,
you may consider that he is in some way, extraordinary.”
    “Does that have any significance?”
“No.”

Business Tip.
To sell really useless shit requires a great display of sincerity.
(This is true whatever field you’re in.)

To compensate for his lack of knowledge and expertise,
one man begins all of his comments with the words: “Of course...”
Do you realize that anywhere this works  --   deserves for it to work?!
Man’s state of city consciousness is if anything: balanced and equitable.
    “Does that not mean anything?”
Nothing.

A Poem Touching On Everything Singular To Man.
There’s little risk or credit

                                                      until you’ve actually said it.

In the useful sense:
A good mystical/mythical map doesn’t take you anywhere  --
it just makes you want to travel.

Life stopped a man and said: “Can I ask you a question?”
and the guy replied: “Hey!  --  you’re Life: you can do anything you want to do.”
(What else was he going to say?!)

Update Regarding The Psychological Basis Of Thought.
Thought has no psychological basis.

“Pa pa: regarding the idea that life can do anything it wants to do  --   is that true?”

Everybody’s gotta do what they’ve gotta do  --
but the man-who-knows doesn’t comment on the matter.....
(which tends to make it matter).

To be human & ordinary is to crawl out of a plane crash
concerned about a resulting torn fingernail.

When a man-who-knows communicates with an ordinary person,
only one of them is serious.

                             UFO’s From An Internal Perspective.
Being from a different genetic swirl
can be the same as from another world.
(But still: the real-deal-man man would never mention it.)

The protective factor in not knowing what’s going on is: consistency.
(“Same as for stupidity, right?”                                   No need to be crude.)

While thumbing through the phone book,
a man long interested in traveling to that CertainPlace,
stumbled on the mode of transportation just right for him,
listed under the corporate name:
Shut Up.
