IN THE CITY: PEOPLE NEVER SEE THEMSELVES COMING

Conversation.
“People read advice columns just to laugh at the advice given.”
     “People like you, you mean.”
“No  --  intelligent people.”
    “Oh --  sorry.”

The mc of a television quiz show would whisper to each contestant  just before the cameras rolled that when he asked them to: “Tell us a little something about yourself” and if they didn’t decline, he’d see to it that they didn’t win anything.
“Pa pa: why would someone take up our time talking about something as irrelevant as
a tv game show host?”
In one Germany, the really hip Germans speak French,
(‘course their un hip brethren don’t realize what they’re doing.)
“There!  --  he’s doing it again:
talking about stuff that has nothing to do with a man waking up.”

One guy frequently tries to put some matter under discussion
into succinct perspective by saying: “Let’s put this matter into succinct perspective.”
(Which seems to strike him as much more significant than it does his listeners.)
“If there was a possibility of other people understanding what I say  --
why would I bother to say it.”

Dialogue.
“I plan to be normally active and appear well right up to the very moment I die.”
“What if you get ill and have no choice in the matter.”
“Uhhh.........well.........if that gets to be the case --  screw me!”

The very feature that many dislike about opera
(it being sung in a language they don't understand)
is also what appeals to a few.

In the land of Eat Or Crap (No Substitutes) everyone can be happy no matter what;
once men have thoughts, they begin acting as substitutes for everything,
thus can men then be non happy regarding apparently anything they can experience.
“Better I should have never left the Garden of Tit Tat
(though it’s obviously a bit late for such a conclusion......but hey!  --
it did take me six thousand years to come to it.)"

One man is currently gripping the idea that if he could but re define
everything he knows  --  it would all go away and his mind would be fresh and awake.
(“Man!  --  are people full of some nutty ideas or what!”)

A King pondered before Court:
“If the universe is closed, then any shot I fire off
will eventually return to strike me in the back of the head, correct?”
“Correct,” replied the Royal Astronomer,
“Correct,” said the Royal Priest (though from a different perspective),
“Indubitably!” added the Royal Barnum, and the King’s own regal insight
suddenly whispered to him: “Get rid of these clowns.”
All men suffer themselves, and all men suffer from their self  --
all except the King who is alone in his Court
(you may here read: "consciousness in his brain").

Taking the complete vertical measure of himself in a full length mirror,
a man touched his head and said:
“My mind is the caldron in which wisdom stews,”
then held his hips:
“And my body, the sturdy stove upon which it sits,”
then concluded:
“And the fire that heats the mix comes from the blubber of
my all too common emotions.”

A man with a certain metaphysical bent can always make a living
giving verbal tours of alleged mystical launch sites (as long as he doesn’t let people get too close).

One fellow will frequently attempt to put some matter under discussion
into succinct perspective by saying: “Let’s put this into succinct perspective   --
by forgetting about it.”

City Construction News.
Erecting a new stadium on the old playing field is just about what you think it is.

When the sun does shine in the city  --   many rebels feel homesick.

Those who don’t want you to realize that they don’t know what they’re talking about
will go to endless pains to explain what they’re talking about.
The dead-eye clue to an alert man is always the presence of the dead eye/I.
(Note: The “those” of such affairs as: “Those who don’t want you to realize that they don’t know what they’re talking about” are all the same person......yeah, come on!  --
you know who it is.)

From the: “One Mo’ Time” blues songbook one man sings:
“Well, hello baby, kid, partner of mine,
I just called to say: This ain’t me talking.”

One man has a pet name for humanity: “Why don’t you just shut up!”  --  sorry,
that's what he says to his own unthinking thoughts!

An Obscure Aristocratical Chronology.
One king originally agreed to sit for an oil portrait;
then later changed it to a photography session;
later still he agreed, nay  --  insisted he sit to be shot.
Such Excellencies you might note, are seldom themselves noted by history.
Man’s collective recording device has little taste for stories of needless suicide
(unless of course in a religious or political context).
One man says he’s pretty well decided that his overall state of consciousness would improve if he could but fully adopt an entirely new concept of: needless.
A New Story Of Exodus.
Pigs only remember The Land Of Slop.
An Adage Update.
Ask not from whence the grunts cometh  --
they cometh from thee, old sport (ground floor, front apartment).
One knight proclaimed: “Forget dragons!  --  I’m gonna slay me some sleeping sheep,” and forthwith rushed to his room.

The secret name of all real mystical activity is: Futurism.
Cry the kids: “In this game nothing counts unless I get there before I do."

One man says:
“If you remove adverbs and adjectives
you’ll have more room for references to the actual stuff  --  in fact:
take out all words and you’ll have even more space.”
“Yeah!  --  that’s what we need all right: more of reality!                                 Jeeze! --  gimmie a break!  --  please!”
