To
a progeny posed a pater:
“Even
though health is a man’s most radical concern:
if
a man has a terrible illness, but suffers no symptoms -- does it
count?”
(And
the lad being no recent arrival from Boobland,
understood
that his father was not speaking of physical maladies,
and
the elder pressed:
“But
ask yourself: If a man has no idea of how uninformed he is about life --
what
does it matter to him?
Do
you look down on worms for them being what they are, and feel sorry for
them?
Worm
life continues a tempo oblivious-to and untouched-by outside views,
and
comments --
does
not also, man’s collective consciousness?
The
ground smells funny only to a few anomalous worms,
and
they, independently, must undertake an investigation of matters olfactory.”
(And
the sapling further grasped that the subject was not actually about aromas.)
"How
about yet another version:
Can
you be asleep and dreaming if you are not aware that you are asleep?
Can
you be so uninformed of what is going on
that
you have no idea whatsoever of how uninformed you are?
Don’t
forget: slugs are slugs and yet don’t know that they are.
It
wasn’t until thought stepped onto the stage of consciousness
that
Adam was moved to give names to everything around him,
but
you do realize that orchids were what they are before his thoughts ever
graced them with their sobriquet.
This
is what gives rise among the few to the ponder:
Who
were you before you were born (which is to ask):
What
were you before your brain’s consciousness produced a thought-based awareness
therein OF a you?
(So
back where I started):
No
one is interested in knowing this but the certain man --
so
not
being interested is no knock against everyone else.
All
men have their hobbies -- our family’s just happens to be:
you
and me trying to drive everyone else out of our head.”
“Ain’t
that the way it is: the very things you’re trying to keep out --
keep
answering the door ‘fore you can stop ‘em.”
More
people want to be an inner knight than ever realize that the desire
IS
the kingdom they seek to explore and overcome.
Question:
Have you talked to your son today?
Had
that ongoing, in-depth, in-code conversation only possible for those
with
a part of their brain uncommonly active?
If
that area is alive in you? -- what are you waiting for?
--
why
would a person squander such a potential?
The
reason for ordinary families is to keep the species going:
the
special inner one of the few, is to expand the range of life’s consciousness;
herds
are too cautious and conservative for this purpose;
it
is all on the obscure strays.
_________
At
the conclusion of his comments
the
speaker agreed to take questions from the audience,
and
someone asked him to tell of the personal problems in his life,
and
how he had survived them, but he shook his head, and said he could not
do so,
since
he had not yet actually survived them.
Men want to hear other men speak -- but never for the reason they say they do.
Someone
else spoke: “Would you once and for all define stupidity?”
“Allowing the past to override the present,”
which
was followed up by: “Is that why a younger generation dislikes an older
one?”
“Yes -- until they become it” --
which
points back to the poser:
“Can
you dislike being a cricket if you don’t know that you are one?”
--
and
on to the even more enriched extension thereof:
“Being
critical of a thing will keep you from ever comprehending what it actually
is.”
If
the only communication you receive is from the collective,
you
might as well close up your mental p.o. box.
