When
one man heard the throwaway line that says ninety per cent of succeeding
is
in just showing up, he mused:
"When
it comes to the struggle to awaken: that is not simply sardonic --
A
sentiment commonly heard in the herd is the communal encouraging assertion:
"Life
is about US!" -- which is valid there,
but
for the man seeking to grasp what is going on with life --
it is all about him.
Originally
men who woke up to what's going on tried to hide it --
until
they realized that no one cared --
then
of course they began trying to make other people believe there was a
big
deal behind the fact that they had been trying to hide something.
Just
as only people not starving gush about the-miracle-of-being-alive,
so
too do only those who do not realize man's full mental potential
brag
about their own intelligence.
Apparently
in explanation of his lack of familiarity with popular novels a man said:
“I
don’t read fiction -- I LIVE
it!”
A
son asked a father: “What is the dumbest question you’ve ever heard:
‘Why
do bad things happen to good people?’”
“No, but change a couple of words and you’ve got it.”
Dialogue
From An As Yet Publicly Unperformed Drama From An Anonymous Hand.
“Our
genes are not a gift, but a loan.”
“And what unseen source has directed you to make such a statement.”
Revised
Version.
“Our
genes are not a gift, but a loan.”
“And what specifically within you is voicing this claim?”
This
unpublished work stops with that question -- where is
there to go after that.
Notes
From A Non Popular Allegory.
Man
is the sole creature around whose eyes life wraps its hands
when
there is nothing essential to see and then bugs man from within his head:
“Boy!
you’d love
to see what’s going on now, wouldn’t you?!
You
can’t stand not being able to see it, can you?! -- It’s driving
you nuts!” --
and
only the certain man comes to realize that the urging he feels is also
both the hands over his eyes and the
potential sights he is thereby being kept from seeing.
World
class contortionists come in no neater packages than this.
Conversation
Number Fifty Five Concerning Everything In Man’s Cultural Reality.
“When
what’s at stake has no actual significance:
everybody
and his brother is an expert.”
“Would you give an example of this?”
“I
don’t know of one.”
Moral:
Anything proves everything -- when it doesn’t matter.
(“Oh! -- now I get it.”)
At
any given moment, ordinary people are acceptably satisfied with what is
going on, or are reasonably confident that they know what would make it
so --
not
so with the certain man;
he
alone can never be pacified no matter what might occur in the ordinary
world;
only
he can rock his realm.
One
man’s motto: “Those with modest requests ain’t got much of a request.”
The
ordinary dream of what tomorrow might be,
while
the rebel dreams of what he
might.

City
Culture In A Shut Nell.
The
crude relish the unrefined; the simple rejoice in the vulgar.
The
more people to whom it is offensive, the more popular will it be.
(“Thank
god,” huffed one man, “That culture is something outside ourselves!”
For
those of you with deep fried lexicographical interests:
an
entire family of adjectives such as: crude, rude, vulgar and uncouth
began
life as synonyms for: the past.)
One
man frequently yells out in pain even when he isn’t hurting --
just
(as he puts it): To show that he doesn’t care whether he is or not
(apparently
on the theory that indifference is encouraged by a display).
“Isn’t
it simply marvelous Dr. Flobue,
how there is a theory available
for
anything you want to say! -- and they’re always
so close at hand.”
“You mean like from the same place that said the thing
you now want a theory to support?!”
“Well
-- you didn’t have to stoop to stating the obvious, now did you.”
The
unspoken rule for kids is:
“Our
primary job is to: spill food,”
which they unknowing mean both literally,
and
metaphorically, and if you don’t understand what this indicates --
you’d
better always have a clean shirt handy.
And
a reader writes: “If you read aloud and record these daily writings
--
then
play them backwards -- they make just as much sense.”
To
the rebel: the mental shirts men wear are the same whether worn inside
out, or outside out, (another perspective on why nudity is the certain
man’s preferred fashion).
