POWER FAILURE ALWAYS
A THREAT TO CITY MINDS

Keeping The Juice Flowing To The Few Since 1952

A man mused: “If life was any more entertaining, we wouldn’t have entertainment.”
Whilst together at the library, browsing through books,
describing the many & varied cultures of the world, a father said  to a son:
“The less citified are a people, the less likely they will have a word for boredom,”
and the boy looked around to make sure where they were.

Second Version:
Glancing first at the life of ordinary men, then to that in his own head, a man mused:
“If they were as entertained by their minds as I am mine,
humans wouldn’t need  entertainment.”

As an experiment (and unbeknownst to anyone),
one well aged gent replaced his hearing aid with a tiny radio receiver
permanently tuned to a heavy metal station;
after several years of this arrangement he says the word, “experiment”
is no longer adequate.

On one world, the horses run backwards in races  --
which works out all right since there the pay off goes to the losers.

(Okay troops, since the delineation lamp is lit:  Define ‘em if you got ‘em!)
Mankind’s Collective Culture: The celebration of the crude.
And the sergeant reminds: “For the truth (don’t forget): Look in your pants;
for entertainment: elsewhere,”
(which you should also remember is not the case with the certain man).

Motto: Wherever you mentally look, there (unrealized by the ordinary)
is your looking mechanism looking back at you   --  in disguise.

Fact: When you can’t be fooled by you  --  you can’t be fooled by anything.
One guy’s slogan: “Take a nap  --  feel like a sap.”

One man says: “I don’t know which I hate the worst:
the sound of humans or the sounds of machinery     (as if there’s much difference).”
(And the wind cooed: “You can call me Matia.”
“Just my luck, “ he snorted, “Always close, but never right on it.”)

How Things Could Be In Life And You Never Be The Wiser.
That there is no medical reason to ever remove an eye, but after spending a dozen years to get their degree, ophthalmologists (once in practice) discover that performing such surgery is the only way to get a decent return on the time they’ve invested in their profession.
(This is also applicable to other areas such as politics & religion, where rulers are able to continually extract taxes from the people by making them believe they are in constant danger.)
And a gentlemen comments:
“Well, what you have said is certainly how the mind can imagine things might be,”
(and his eyes looked away as if to say: “But surely not!?”)
“Pa pa: too bad there is not a doctor who can extract another kind of I, huh?!”

In one galaxy is a planet whose inhabitants have a tradition that says:
Each new generation  --  as it reaches maturity  --
forgets all it knows and replaces it with what it imagines it does.
“Hey!” says the mayor of a local city: “If it works for them  --  it could work for us,”
and as so often is the case: low level politicos are already behind the times.

Consciousness is to now as thought is to all other times;
thought is to social as consciousness is to individual;
thought remembers the past for social reasons:
to know how to act next time a similar situation arises;
also: thought is necessary for a man to be social with himself (to entertain himself):
to do this he needs ideas from others, thus needs to be social to have access thereto.

A Flash From The Library.
One man, when he would finish a page, would turn it  --  and forget about it.
(“What a guy!”)

While waiting for his dream boat to come in,
this one chap began to smell like Herman Melville on a hot day.

Another Note Regarding The Nature Of Man (Okay: Of His Mind).
Without being singularly blessed  --  you can’t be singularly cursed.
“Pa pa, is this why everyone…”      “Yes.”

For a few: the worst is in considering the alternative.

In a persistent attempt to find just the right audience for his ideas,
one man always prefaced them by saying: “Now I could be full of shit…”
until he found those to whom this made no difference.
(“Hell man!  --  he could have stayed home alone and accomplished that.”)

As they conversed, the mechanical engineer and the stock broker agreed that
of utmost importance is always the matter of leverage,
and a man passing by (who used his own mind in manners metaphorically akin to
both the aforementioned professions said to himself: “Ah  --  leverage!    Ah so.”

For a few: the worst is in considering the alternative.

Fact: Anger is local, as are all of its targets;
the source of all targets however, is universal  --
and no one gets mad at the universal  --  so:
that raises the question  --  question?!  --  what question?!
And as long as we’re in the vicinity, one man offers this up to the minute definition,
and example of electronic based entertainment: “Religion: low definition irritation.”

To be cutting edge clever in the city requires you have enough lack of understanding for two.

Fact: The dense take life personally.
Fact: Life intends that they do.
Fact: No harm done!  --  but no help given either  --  by your friend: life.

Those behind the time
never understand time.

To get hip to what’s really going on, you gotta know all the short cuts   --
then forget ‘em.

The Mind’s Minimal Requirements To Be Entertained.
It can’t enjoy Punch without Judy,
Ren without Stimpy,
Romeo sans Juliet,
Brahma with no Shiva,
Beavis without Butthead,
and above all: no thought without someone else’s thought to compare it to.
“Daddy, is this why men are always…”     “Yes.”

For a few: the worst is in considering the alternative.
“Okay already! --  I give up!   Why is that!?”
Well, be thankful sir, that you will never suffer it.
