A
man who loved the swing of jazz, detested the interruption of bass solos
so much that he would always stop a CD on which one occurred;
change
the radio station playing same; leave a club in which such began to take
place, then one day asked himself: “What does me doing these things ultimately
accomplish: will record producers stop letting the bass player take a solo;
will
disc jockeys cease to play recordings with such,
and
will club owners forbid the bands they book to allow it:
as
much as I dislike this activity, and as unfailingly as I take action to
keep
it out of my life, what can I do that might truly influence whether this
routine occurrence continues to go on in life?”
He
later (being also a man who wanted to awaken)
carried
this question into a non musical area.
Everyone
has a useless project in mind;
all
projects in man’s second reality are useless
(unless
you count their providing other people something to laugh at).
One
outstanding feature of man’s mental only, second reality is that
any
idea pertinent to things therein will make sense to somebody.
Every
person has a useless project they want to talk about;
it
is these projects that men have in mind which keep the human mind alive.
Man’s
tolerance for radio, TV and movies
reflects
his tolerance for his own meaningless, mechanical mental ramblings.

Mental
Life In The City: a relay race with
no final lap.
Culture:
a race with no individual runners (that is: thinkers).
What
do reporters and the religious have in common?
Reporters
believe that rat holes are a sure sign of rats,
while
the religious take the presence of rats as a strong suggestion of holes
existing somewhere (quite possibly not where you can ever see them
-- but somewhere).
In
civilized men, certain everyday hormones tend to produce in neurons extraordinary,
metaphysical dreams, which the mind is wont to take for real and serious.
Rats
are just rats, but spiritual holes for them, indeed a whole other matter,
in
fact, a matter for a whole other reality.
The
thinking of the certain man sticks to the basics, while that of city men
cannot,
or
its entire culture and structure would collapse.

Stuff To Look Forward To (If You Want To).
The
kind of people who love to tell you: “How-hard-they’ve-had-it”
ain’t
seen nuthin’ yet.
One
man says the best part of quoting dead guys is that
you
don’t have to credit them since they ain’t here to sue you.
Everyone
either wants to be entertained or to entertain.
To
some: city life is one big shopping adventure:
to
others it is an endless standing-in-line at the return counter.
Everyone
either wants to be informed or to inform
(but
not as many are interested in information as in entertainment).

A Mental Health Fact That Is For REAL.
Though
unrealizable and thus un useable in the city:
looking
back is the cause of all depression.
And
from Our Meteorological Desk:
Oft
times the wind blows when it’s not really going any where.
And
one chap laments: “It’s almost as hard to remember what you’ve said
as
it is to say what you remember.”
The
Fewer Facts Strategy.
One
man says that since most of the facts that come from men’s mouths
are
threatening --
what
we need are fewer facts.
Everybody
knows what’s wrong about things they don’t like, but not about anything
else. Is that not interesting.
“No
-- not unless you’re some kinda nut!”
Another
Way To Tell That You Might Be A Nervous System Rebel
The
creations of ordinary people can’t mentally entertain you.
One
guy says: “On the flight to wake-up, take a window seat.”
