THE CITY SEEMS TO OFFER CHOICE, BUT THE CITY SETS THE STANDARD FOR, “SEEMS TO”

Going Beyond Appearances Since 1317

Myth From Another Reality.
On a certain planet, a force (for lack of a more descriptive name)
unknown and foreign to that universe somehow appeared,
and took up residence in a particular life form there;
the physical creature in which this incorporeal energy settled was not harmed thereby, indeed, in ways not inconsequential, it benefited therefrom,
but the fact remained that the host and the squatter were of two entirely
different natures in every sense of the word,
from two disparate realities as it were,
yet they found themselves locked in an unbreakable embrace.
After thousands of years, the situation is basically as it began:
a constant bilateral effort on their parts to reach a comfortable accommodation.
(Additional legend says this is the full explanation of everything these creatures find confusing.)

So pondered one Earthling: "Did I not have perceived foes  –
what would I do internally for exercise?”

Life is a messy business  --  not: being alive  --   but life.

Those who would be more alive in consciousness go through several stages:
when a child (same as everyone else): life seems a wonder --
then (like the rest): they became accustomed to it and it no longer is;
but when they stumble upon what is reputed to be a way to a greater understanding --  life again becomes a wonder  --
but as before, it eventually ceases to be;
but if such people press on and actually discover the way  --
they experience the greatest wonder of all.

Conversation.
“Most people just live from the waist down.”
“Does that include those who try not to?”
“Yes.”

Previous Story Update.
It is not a matter of: “Be ye as little children,” but rather of being able to recall
what it was that your nervous system recognized in your earliest days
that you did not appreciate and have forgotten.
For the would-be realized-man, ‘tis time to go after this recollection,
whilst now at an adult spa wherein one wrestles not merely with imaginary weights,
and resistance, but sweats with the renewed --  and now potentially profitable  --  point-blank confrontation with things-as-they-are in life,
rather than from the non indigenous perspective of a guest to the gym.

Two tango dancers individually disoriented in different ways, equal what totality?

The past would sometimes call one man on his gene-phone and say:
“Hello dar!  --  DNA here: to whom am I speaking?”  --
and damn’f he wasn’t always stuck for a reply.

Conversation.
“Some people try to live from the neck up.”
     “Do any ever succeed?”
“Lucky for them  --  no.”

Not only is a more alert man’s mind his favorite performer  --
but also is the rest of him its best audience.

In Class, Instructor-Pupil Conversation.
“All schools were once one-room.”
    “When was that, teacher?”
“Back when all students were one eyed.”
    “And when was that, sir?”
“Look down in your pants, and you’ll know.”
“Oh! – you mean metaphorically to: look-back-in-my-past.”

True communication between instructor and student is a beautiful thing,
not to mention, almost unknown.
What do you imagine a bacterium would have to say to cells in which it had intruded? (and vice versa).

On one planet are creatures with a brain that is divided into two parts
so that anything it can think, it can also think the opposite.
“Teacher: does anything similar occur in our trousers?”
“Pa pa: could all these stories today about creatures,
and an embedded energy/bacterium, actually be about something else?”
“Something that might make more sense and be of more practical significance?”
“Precisely, dear pater.”
“The eyes/I’s of the rebel reader can feed regardless of the written fodder.”
“I knew that.”
“Yes, you’re beginning to, and you would be helped by investigating
whether the ever dancing duo are in fact of the same species.
It makes sense to man’s mind to assume that life evolved from the universe,
and that man’s consciousness evolved from life,
but if a particular something-else is the case --
everything that doesn’t make sense to man’s mind  --  suddenly does so.”

One guy relates this little personal story:
“Last Sunday (around noon) I sat down on a bench in city park next to a man who
(after a bit of perfunctory chit chat) confided that he wished he had a son
so that he would have someone to whom he could pass on good advice
that he had derived from his life experiences:
then after falling silent for a few seconds as he tossed out peanuts to the pigeons,
he finally said what was really on his mind:
‘You should really be wary of a man who you suspect knows something extraordinary, but which has nothing to do with you personally.’”

How can the beat of the heart not have something to say to blood?!  --
the actual pertinent question though is:
How can the two ever understand one another’s language?
“Father dearest: Is the topic behind the words still about hormones and neurons,
and the brain’s dual activity as performer and spectator?”
“(Hate to be crude, precious son of mine  --  but!):
what the hell else CAN words about man BE about?!
You can talk adequately about tigers employing only tiger words,
      but not so about man:
to speak and think profitably about him requires neural abilities foreign to him.”
“His nervous system, you mean: ‘him’ in this context being a creature
as opposed to an outside energy  that has settled in him?!”
   “You get better and better at this, young growth product;
a foreigner who realizes his foreignness is no longer such an alien, huh?!”
“Yes  --  as a matter of fact: I now feel more at home just from our conversation.”
“That’s what always results from the inner conversation being taken to
     the maximum;
the only way the certain man can remain ignorant is to remain oblivious to
the never ending effort going on in him involving two separate entities
searching for a mutually agreeable accommodation.

Enlightenment can be seen as discovering the somnolent nature of
an improperly identified joint effort.”
“A fine end to a splendid conversation, if I may say so Dear Father, perforce-of-conditions.”

J

A post script to the above noted legend says that man was forced into thinking and talking
as a result of the efforts made by the host body and the alien energy
to reach a mutually acceptable arrangement.
