How
Neurons Can Work: Exemplified In A Musical Conversation.
“Just
calling Zydeco:
Blues
don’t make it the Blues.”
“Why not?”
“Well.....okay,
I guess it can.....if you really want it to.....I guess.”
Fact:
A man who would underestimate the power of the mind
would
marry an accordion.
(“You
mean a really ugly one?! -- right?! -- like one
from Bulgaria.”)
“By
the way: just saying that this story is about music doesn’t make it so.”
If
you pretend hard enough that you don’t know what’s going on --
you won’t -- and:
a
man with nothing TO DO -- can do anything.
“Hey!
-- don’t laugh at movies -- in man’s second reality there
is nothing more real.”
Making
harmless hobbies sound like serious shit
is
what man’s mind and his second reality does best.
Since
men don’t know what to do individually they pretend to, institutionally.

If
mermaids didn’t exist -- man would have to invent water.
One

sweep through his mind as a: class-action-lawsuit.

The
neat thing about singing is that while you are -- you don’t
have to think.
(“Was
that really about singing?”)
And
the great thing about really being-into talking about yourself
is
that it saves you from having to talk about anything else.
For
some reason one man would frequently say to himself in his mind:
“Have
your people stay in touch with my people.”
Fact:
sooner or later everyone is: “The late, great.”
Conversation

“There’s
still no test for -- you-know-what.”
“Yes there is! Where have YOU been?!”
“Obviously
not where you think.”
Fact:
if everybody went where they could
go --
no
one would have the puzzlements and stupids they do now.

Government:
The arrangement whereby a few get fat at the expense of
everyone
else (not to be confused with the ongoing development of
the
human intellect, and the second reality it creates).
Dialogue
Number Twenty Two.
“One
man’s brain talked to itself -- until it realized how dumb
it was."
“I believe you have that wrong: I think it is supposed to go:
One man’s brain talked to HIM -- until it realized how dumb
HE was.”
“You
call that a correction!”
One
guy said to himself: “If I’D been born under a bad sign --
I could
sing the blues!” The “If’s”
of the world are what keeps man’s second world of music and stuff running;
as
long as you can think: “if”
-- you my friend, are a vocalist of the first rank.
How
Life Works --
In The Case Of Man: Part 29.
After
discovering a potentially fatal flaw in their ceiling fan,
one
company, as evidence of their sophisticated approach to things,
gave
customers the choice of either returning their fan -- or their head.
(“I
bet you’re expecting me to ask again if this story isn’t actually about
the relationship between a man’s consciousness and his nervous system
-- ain’t cha?!”)
For
the official wedding of himself TO himself,
one
chap wrote his own vows which said:
“We
pledge that sagacity -- is beyond our capacity --
but other than for that:
let’s
get on with it.”

The
assumed metaphorical significance that men assign to many things,
eludes
many people -- “And for very good reason!”
you might ask......
One
man did some of his best work when he wasn’t working.
The
gaff, the pickle, the punch line and hook of the surreptitious quiz show
with
the problematic prizes in which all men are unknowing participants is that
by
the act of them being presented with an endless river of questions,
and
being made to feel that they are obliged to seek their answers,
they
are able somehow thereby to believe that they are answering them
---- sort of.
Who?
What?
Where?
-- and which kinda thing but the human mind can:
shoot
itself in the foot;
call
for an ambulance;
rush
to the rescue;
bind
the wound;
stop
itself for questioning, make out a police report,
hand
out Warning Citations
all around,
then
jump back in its car and speed away -- uninjured?!
Who
else, dammit! -- tell us: who
else?!
For
the few: the reporting of local

and
reporting of the universal isn’t possible, so -- there!
“I
only regret that I have but one, blah-blah to lose for my, ya-ya."
“Don’t make me come in there and show
you -- ya-ya!”
Fact:
The world’s greatest collection of quotations is in one man’s head.
“Whose?” And you just added one (you
titanium tongued devil you).
One
man says he has made so much progress recently
that
he has written a song about it:
“The way things are going,
the time will soon pass,
when I will be able,
to bite my own ass.”
“Yes,
friends and neighbors: carrousels are not this town’s problem --
those
blind to them who ride
them are.
‘Hey
Rube!’ ‘Nuts!’ ‘Don’t fire until you see’
‘I have not begun to bite,’
(and like that).”
One
man advised his partner: “If you don’t feel the pressure of time
-- make it up. ”
“But you once told me that if I didn’t -- NOT to?!?”
“Yeah
– that too.”
One
guy uses one of three stock responses he has to the run-of-the-mill comments
about him that his brain continually dumps in his mind:
“Gimmie
a break!”
“Get
in line!” -- and:
“Don’t
you wish!”
The
worse singer you are the more you have to keep the crowd worked up
with
shouts to 'em like: “Is everybody havin’ fun?”
“Everybody say: ‘Yeah!’”
“Does
anybody wanna hear some good music?” (and the talking part
of the
human
nervous system nods toward man, and out of the corner of its mouth says:
“Who d’ya think taught him everything he knows.”)
Don’t
you begin to get it: even if Copernicus
ISN'T the only man who can
dance
like a chicken in a coma -- he’s the only person who SAYS he
can.
It
takes a singer of the most minimal talent to listen to himself sing,
and
not realize how little talent he has.
“Hey!
-- I’ve had it with this: you ain’t
really talkin’ about singing! --
so stop it.”
What
do you call a man with a handicap?
“A man.”
Okay:
who told?!
