THE SOUNDS HEARD IN THE CITY
DO NOT NECESSARILY COME FROM WHERE THEY'RE THOUGHT TO

One man (with an unlisted middle initial) says that being as intelligent as he is,
is not easy, in fact (he confides) it has become SO not easy as to be impossible.
A variation of the old magician’s adage: tell the audience that the trick you are about to perform, you already did while they weren’t watching  --
world class legerdemain: misdirection incapable of detection;
thought pretend to giveth  --  thought taketh away,
and none are the wiser  --  how could they be?!  --  there is no one there but thought, and it has just been shown that it is too dumb to even catch on to its own duplicity.
Yes indeed!  --   if you’re a yammerin’ hooman  --  you’re home free!

A father noted to a son:
“While it is embarrassing not to know what you are talking about,
there is the one saving grace approach applicable to all things:
if it can’t be meaningful  --  it can at least be brief.”

As they became conscious and civilized, men collectively conceived of
the positions of: king, priest, guru, etc. so that in the space on applications
that asked who you are ruled by, they would not have to write in: “Chance.”
In fact, you could set down this new definition of civilization:
The physical assault-on, and denial-of: the power of happenstance
(aka): hormones (when the situation isn’t serious)
curling up, and letting neurons believe they got the best of them.
“Precious pater, is that what distinguishes man from other animals?”
   “That along with a string of other trivialities.”
“Come on Pop, you’re just joshin’ me now, right?”
    “Do you hope I am?”

Time does not run from the winding of clocks,
but from the edginess of the human mind.

¤  ¤  ¤

The human mind is like the Law’s Court Of Chancery in that,
(to paraphrase its basic maxim of Equity): “It suffers no question to go unanswered.”
Hip attorneys say that a lawyer who represents himself has a fool for a client,
but men’s routine minds can’t seem to grasp the parallel in their own realm.
“Hey!” says the magician: “Lay it here on the table, and I’ll make it disappear,” and:
“Hey!” says the butcher: “Lay it here on the table, and I’ll cut it into smaller pieces.”
“Father dear, for sure they’re back talking about the mind, huh?!”
The certain man’s mind IS the table upon which ordinary men’s neural activity
does its worst  --  that is what makes meaningful their thoughts.

Only when actually harmed do hormones lick their wounds –
neurons do it as a matter of course  --  even though they do not really have any.

¤  ¤  ¤

Ordinary memory always implies hostility  --
that is why routine thoughts have a front and back end.

Facts consider it their duty to keep acts up to date.
(The sign of the city is professing that behavior is directed by thought.)
Facts do have a responsibility  --  but only to themselves,
and the other imaginary characters in man’s cultural reality,
(where acts fit into this, you don’t wanna talk about  --  since you can’t  --
and since just trying to makes you look foolish.)
There are soldiers --  and there are marching orders,
and civilian thoughts believe they are in charge of the latter
[bless their little scarless hearts]).

A man mused: “From what I have begun to see,
it does seem that only a few people know;
what I wonder is: is life aware that so few people know?”

In an attempt to help his son grasp the futility of criticizing human nature,
a father so reminded the lad: “People-ing IS the proper activity of people.”
In contemplating the distinction between states who elect their leaders,
and those ruled by men who claim a divinely inspired right, one guy mused:
“In one instance: one man – one vote;
in the other: one leader  --  one bad ass."
Neurons have words  –  hormones, charisma.
Helpful Tip For The Rebellious Villager.
The sound of complaints comes from the mind  --  not from consciousness;
from the realm of facts  --  not acts.
Question: how dumb do you have to be to be primarily offended by
the noise  of a tornado?
Only neurons complain  --  if hormones have a complaint  --  they act on it  --
not yack about it.

Quick: what is the definition of a really great magician?  --
one so good that even HE doesn’t know how he does it.
“Daddy, are they talking about the mind again?”

One man says that in spite of his continued best efforts he still cannot seem to
fully come-to-his-senses (but adds he believes he almost once did so with a friend’s).

(What follows is a rarely told legend that when heard, most people disbelieve,
and at which the remaining usually giggle nervously.)
On one world, the creatures were forced to keep a detailed daily diary
which could not be altered or lost  --
some of you in fact may think you have heard of it  --  but you are mistaken;
that is one of the major erroneous entries in your local faux journal.
Actions never forget  --   words, constantly.
“Pa pa, is this why undazzled kings have full faith only in hormonal knights?”

Re Q’s & A’s.
A dumb question represents one order of dumbness,
but he who tries to answer a dumb question presents a whole new level of dumbness.
(Everybody already understood that, right?!)

And a man previously mentioned re-muses: “Based on my further understanding,
it is unquestionably clear that only a very few people really know,
but my curiosity has shifted from wondering if life is aware of how few people know
to wondering if it is aware THAT even a few do?”
