IN ONE HEAD AND OUT THE OTHER  --
THAT'S THE SECRET TRICK

In the city, two people who can talk together good can figure out anything:
that’s how things go in the city  --
the city out there, and the one in your head........with the two good conversationalists.

A kid quizzed a sibling: “Say: what’s the problem with having fun
at someone else’s expense  --  life does it at ours!”
(Just then, Joe Bob from down the block came by,
and stabbed them both in the clavicle,
bringing to a momentary end, their conversation.)

The Sad, Happy And In Between Truth.
Neurons know nothing serious,
while hormones know stuff that’ll scare your socks off,
(‘course they can’t talk about it so they have neurons give it a crude, convoluted shot).

In one land was an obscure tribe of thought-cannibals who somehow got
the usual sequence fouled up and would eat their victims and then cook them.

If you believe that you are objective, yet have a certain personal edge
to your impartiality, be advised that you are not truly without meaningless preferences.
Men are constructed to think they have choices in life  --
this is what keeps imbeciles imprisoned.
    “Isn’t that a mite harsh?!”
Okay: the way to keep a dumb dog in the yard is to tell him that he can leave, but that only a really stupid mutt would.      Better?
    “Much.”

Further Distinction Between Hormones And Neurons,
Applying The Art Of Authorship As The Metaphor.
Compared to thought: consciousness is like a writer who is not dependent on
research material.
“Hold up: I’m sure as always that you are speaking of man’s mental based,
second reality, and in that context: what kind of research is needed, or even possible, in the composing of fairy tales?!”
How could the point be more pithily put  --  but still perhaps
you would care to hear it repositioned into a musical setting:
ordinary thinking: a practiced performance  --
liberated consciousness: prima vista sight-reading combined with
a quite uncommon talent for improvisation.
It’s also like this: since routine thought professes to know where it is going  --
it acts disturbed if it doesn’t seem to GET there;
the-man-who-knows can appear unmoved  --  yet be at his desired destination.

Having a mind that stays engaged in serious inner commentaries is one thing  --
taking them seriously is quite another:
one of the above activities is natural  --  the other is not,
and ordinary minds simply cannot believe which is which.

A cow who aspired to be alpha-wolf, exhorted his fellow bovines:
“’Tis harder to drown a herd than a single cow,”
and many of them did begin to gather ‘round him, and in short time:
crowned him king; made him pope; appointed him president of the university,
and printed up tee shirts with his picture, the combined effects of which destroyed him, and let the cows return to their insouciant grazing.
Ordinary men who believe they are individually smarter than
the collective mind of their own civilization are in truth dumber than
even the conventionally dumb can imagine in a frog storm.
(And in case it slipped past you: all of this is part of the basic mechanics life employs for self protection..............and it also keeps cows off the scent.)

Every time this one rebel would return for a visit to his home city,
the first thing he’d do when he recognized his old neighborhood is shout:
“What the hell am I doing back here!”
(Same as riding a bike: you never forget how to sleepwalk.)

*   *   *

After some time spent in the seditious service,
no matter where he went, and regardless of the circumstances,
this one rebel would turn to himself and not at all hostilely say:
“I’ve been expecting you.”

A man mused: “Without doubt, in a certain manner: He who endures  --  conquers” --  then he looked at his everyday thoughts and said: “Okay, old chums  --  it’s you or me.”

Although he says he does not want to be held responsible,
one man says he is pretty sure he is the source of mad cow disease.

Lock it up and everybody will wonder why  --
turn it loose and most people will never notice.
