SUBSTITUTE FOR THOUGHT DISCOVERED -
AGAIN

One writer’s wooden writing desk would, from day to day, warp slightly
to one side or the other, and observing this, his mind finally said to its thoughts:
“Don’t let this give you any fancy ideas!”

Man does not live by furniture alone.

The ruler in charge of one domain announced his decision that
the people would no longer be allowed to be sad;
they in return soon decided that he would no longer be allowed to be in charge.

In the city:
the naturally simple find life too complex  --
the urbanely complex find it to be too simple  --
the certain man finds his way out.

People will pay to be entertained  --  but not informed  --   wanna know why?  --
‘cause only one of the two is possible.

    True for the few:
what makes sense to you  --  makes sense to you,
    and that’s all that matters.

A man who knows what is going on is never what ordinary people call, “serious”
in what he says to others (except those of his ilk).

How The Rebel’s Dog Runs A Different Course.
For random example: when ordinary minds hear the word “fashion”
a consumer will think of a particular style,
a designer, of the history of fashion,
a manufacturer, of its costs, and so on,
but the certain man’s thoughts would go to a wholly other place
with his interest being in such as:
“What is the basis in man’s nervous system for the thing he calls, ‘fashion?’”

After bumping once again into the bank of computers where he worked,
one man thought:
“If certain inanimate objects had the intelligence they’re said to have,
they’d stay out of my way.”

Man cannot live by clumsiness alone  --  no matter how adroitly  excused.

Metaphysical Romance In The City.
To say that you have been hurt by the circumstances of life
is to say that you have been successfully courted.

One day two chess sets were just sitting around doing nothing,
and one said to the other:
“Want to play a game of man?” and the other replied:
“Isn’t that taking the notion of metaphor too far!” --  to which the first responded: “Touché!”  -- and the second set said:

“Now  that’s a whole other sport  --  sport.”  and they both had a hearty good laugh.    (At whose expense  --  you might not should ask.)

Insertum for the file: Obvious Stuff That People Obviously Don’t Wanna Think About
Those who, for a profession, study how man works,
don’t really want to know  --  how man works.
Men do not live by careers alone  --  unless they are addicted to the game of: circumstance-analysis (as opposed to being intrigued with the science involved in the making of the: circumstance-analyzer).

The inner distinction between exceptional and ordinary people
is that the ordinary don’t realize they are.
One man started calling all his mistakes, “apparent mistakes”
which made everyone who knew him SO mad
    they started doing it also.
The rebel’s drug of choice is himself.

Man does not live by luck alone --  unless luck is all there is.
(The certain man’s graving sace is in realizing if and when this is so.)

An intergalactic scholar once visited Earth, and after studying many eras,
and diverse areas, and being confronted for the four hundredth time with the
proverbial insight that says: “In this life: only the wise are truly wretched,”
he became so disoriented that he laid down his research and went out for a chili dog.
Simultaneously across town at City College, the Intellectual Choir had just begun
to sing their anthem: “Yes, we have our degree,
                                        from thought without diversity.”

The Media.
Following seriously, news from the city is paying to hear someone else whine.

The War.
The stupid take no prisoners  --  who’d want ‘em!
And someone mutters: “Even I’M not stupid enough to say I don’t get that one.”

In the city: several people talking is the same thing as one person talking  --
except there are more of them.
Moral: “It takes a village to raise a mind” --
(aka: the collective effect of the city’s neural activity
equals an ordinary man’s consciousness).

Man does not live by bitching alone  --  which is why he gathers in groups to do it.

Knight’s Moral Regarding The City: “Don’t get caught there after dark.”

An exotically attractive synapse said to a mind:
“Are you really glad to see me, or is that circumstances in your pocket?”

And some semi sports news: one guy has started calling his
efforts to get to the bottom of things: Neural Roller Derby.

Mind’s thoughts are like a belt between two wheels of:
the circumstances out-there  --   and his temperament in-here.

One man says he is curious why in every city there are:
homes for the homeless  --
homes for the sick  --
homes for the elderly –
homes for the insane  --  but none for the confused.

Man in the city does not live by self realization alone.
"What kinda smart-ass comment is that: 'alone'!"

Recently Mr. Obvious made one of his infrequent public appearances
on which occasion he said: “Man’s mental life is run by dichotomies,”
and someone in the audience immediately shouted out: “No it’s not!”
                                                “I rest my case.”

Expansion Of A Previous Story.
People will pay to be entertained  --  but not informed  --  unless you can trick ‘em!

“Pa pa: you reckon that an awakened man can even trick himself?”
“Well, I’d be ashamed for him if he couldn’t!”

Man does not live by mental pretense alone  --  unless he is satisfied therewith.
