Making
Light Of Make Believe Heaviness Since 1224*

A
father told a son a story:
“There
was a boy
who
had toys
he
enjoyed playing with;
the
toys came to believe they were as alive and smart as the boy,
and
began trying to hip him concerning boy
matters, which,
from
the boy’s view (though he was too nice to mention it)
was
something between pathetic and slightly annoying.”
“All
right Dad; was that really about a more awake man and everybody else,
a
field study of me-too, dung beetles, or about us and our own consciousness?”
“That’s for you to know and me to find out.”
“Huh!”
“Okay: for us to already know and us to have to realize we do.”
Anyone
who says that: “Hindsight is always 20/20” is not correct;
such
sight SHOULD be -- but is not in those who say this.
Only
the blind mention their visual condition -- never the sighted.
“Come
on Pop -- you haven’t reminded me of it in days -- please!”
“Okay: the one solid steel way to keep from appearing stupid is --
silence.”
Only
the dumb comment on their condition -- never, those-who-know,
(what
profitable notation of their quickness is there for the alive to make to
the dead?)
There
was once a planet with creatures who all kept their mouths shut;
no
one has ever heard of this world
‘cause
nothing worth mentioning ever happened there;
that’s
what you would get collectively if men did not speak,
but
not so for he struggling to depart the crowd.
Entrepreneurial
News: a man with his own business has
no interest in that of others.
Ordinary
minds looking at life can never see anything extraordinarily enlightening,
but
can only make note of the obvious,
and
what is obvious to ordinary minds is
whatever
is mechanically going on in humanity’s great, collective conversation,
wherein (perforce the laws of local nature) nothing enlightening CAN go
on.
Fleas
have their own appropriate existence -- so do pachyderms;
a
flea’s perspective of an elephant is not the same as the elephant’s of
a flea;
elephants
know what they are, and so do fleas,
but
their perspectives of themselves also differ (weird, but facts are facts):
fleas
can but identify and comment on elephants -- never on fleas
(speaking
of course of normal ones).
“Dearest
progenitor: when I grow up, can I be a NON normal one?”
“Being a cherished scion of mine: how could it be otherwisenheimer.”
A
man WITH good devices -- is best left to himself, no?!
"I
dislike anything having to do with health."
"Why is that?"
"It
reminds me of illness."
"So I guess you also don't like anything
that has to do with intelligence."
"I
see where you're going -- and I guess you nailed me."
One
man believed he could will
his lawn mower to crank on the first try --
and
when it didn't -- he believed that he hadn't willed it to.
"Pop
-- is there a synonym for, neat?"
"Not a neat one."
One
man says that his natural born mind, working at its absolute, instinctive
best,
brings
to mind the endearing, complimentary term: crud
de la crud,
(even
skunks may deserve their own Academy
Awards Show --
even
IF it must be held in contained isolation).
“Pa
pa, was that really about consciousness -- just without using
the term?”
Things
are not as they appear --
to
those who have privately become more
than they appear.
“How
can you tell if you have become so?”
The
way to tell you definitely have NOT is if you find your mind talking about
the things that everybody else is talking about.
“I
have heard this from you before and pondered it at much length with great
intensity, and remain unable to see what it could possibly be that you
could think and talk about that everybody else does NOT also think and
talk about?!?”
“Well,
if this whole DoingTheThing
was not supremely improbable,
superior
people like you and I would not even be interested in it, what?!”
.....”Well.....I
guess you surely got something there.”
In
the land of oz -- natives are natural suckers for oziness,
as
one man’s unruly consciousness snickered: “If I can’t put MYSELF on
--
over
whose wool WILL I pull my eyes/I’s?!”
The
proverb adored in the city (“Many
are called, but few are chosen”)
was
actually cribbed from a saying common among the family members of
the
first man whose brain achieved consciousness (which was):
“Many
dream of going to sea -- but who has the wit to build
the first boat --
and
then the nerve to sail off in the damn thing.”
The
entire flea world speaks and thinks in only flea;
to
them: only they are life -- elephants are the inanimate universe
in which they live, and the only thoughts and words they have to represent
“life” are about fleas,
and
nothing else.
An
elephant can think and talk not only elephant, but flea as well, which
(comparably
speaking) makes the universe he perceives much greater than
the
one perceived by fleas.
“Everything
is relative,” is said in city jungles only by those with TOO connected
kin.
“Another
view my boy, of the certain man’s certain type of solitary existence.
If
you are too tied to others -- any others -- you will
forever languish in the stagnancy of humanity’s great collective conversation:
thinking/talking about naught but what they do. Hey! -- that’s what
close kin do --
hey!
-- that’s why not to BE close.”
A
man who knows what is really going on is about as far from himself as anyone
else,
(nuclei
may not be able to walk away from the cell,
but
they can get on the good foot where they stand).
“Pa
pa; when I grow up -- can I go away and seek The Great Secret?”
“Why not -- that’s what all immature fools do.”
“Seek
The Great Secret?!?”
“No -- go away.”
The
big question is: how can you GET away -- if you don’t GO away?
The
enormous answer: by realizing where you are when you ask such a question.
“Dear
Sir: I have heard you mention this too before, and let me be sure I have
it right: the answer to the core question that drives my life
is
in simply recognizing the nature of the questioner --
is that it?”
What
hope has a man, born playing the accordion,
whose
thoughts later say he hates
the accordion?
(aka:
in a three dimensional universe,
bifocal
consciousness is always missing a third of what is going on.)
“Dear Sir: I don’t get it.”
Do you really feel it necessary to say that?
“Probably not -- but what else CAN I say?!”
Touché.
