A father said to a son:
“Least you believe that mankind is only blind to that certain individual matter
regarding consciousness, you should consider:
beyond the intricacies of the mind about which I so often speak,
which ordinary people are not able to see, and about which they have no interest,
there are much larger things going on outside of their heads about which
ordinary people are most interested, and on which their lives can depend,
but which they still cannot see.
It is profitable to ponder such situations in that they can expand your understanding of just how far removed are some of man’s basic collective views of life from the more objective one that results from a shift in your individual consciousness.
 

The principal examples being: patriotism, religion and family --  the very things which, when asked what is most important in their life, people always give as their top three
(to be more exact): 98% of the world’s people always give as their top three.

Completely extraneous to my numbers of: 99.99999% of humanity having no interest in that certain matter around which all our conversations turn,
and but .00001% who do, there are figures from extensive research which are commonly accepted in the everyday and even academic world, which are clearly plausible, and which conclude that the wealth and the power exercised on this planet  is held by 2% of the people;
this is not hidden, but indeed plain and well noted for the previous five thousand years, and up until this very day.
First it was tribal chiefs and their cronies; then priests and the church;
then kings and royal families, and now industrial/commercial barons and financiers;
2% of the people visibly, apparently are in control of the external affairs
of the other 98%  --
and although in the ordinary world there are the few identified as, conspiracists
(who are but one eyed, half mad dogs chasing phantom cars),
there is nothing secretive, weird or nefarious about this --
it can validly be viewed as the Homo Sapien version of a genetically dominant animal always taking charge of a social pack.

From the earliest written annals, scribes have noted that every time humans
would settle somewhere as a more or less permanent group, a leader would arise, normally (and still extant today) taking control by physical force and intimidation,
(priests and religion eventually added the element of mental intimidation,
and finally financiers, financial).
Now in some instances, it seems as though men assume control over a group of other men via their election to the position, but the plain, readily observable fact remains:
2% (+/-) of the people control the wealth and power on this planet,
(now for the matter concerning which, I commenced, my boy, this conversation).
 

The 2% ostensibly running everything,
are not patriotic, are not religious, and do not feel toward family as do the other 98% --
this is no theory  --  no accusation, but an easily observable, documentable reality:
the histories of every people and culture around the world clearly,
and un self consciously record instance after anecdote bearing witness thereto.

The 2% have no feelings of “patriotism” regarding the land and people they control  --  only the other 98% do, and the 2% only declare wars  --  they never fight in them,
nor send their sons to do so,
and the wars they do declare, and cause the 98% to go fight,
regardless of their ceaseless claims otherwise, are never for reasons of “patriotism”;
the 2%, as is proper for the top wolf, have no interest-in or loyalty-to anything except holding onto their power (and with humans, their wealth);
this is not a matter of evil on their part any more than it is goodness with the 98%  --
it is simply and observably --  how things are  --   and yet:
even here in the matter of warfare  --  the affair of most interest to all men  --
in that it directly and immediately concerns death (either being killed or killing others)
it is as though for five thousand years no one has noticed that 2% of the people
decide when the other 98% will go kill or be killed, for a cause which
the 2% alone determine, and which, unless it be in defensive reaction to attack,
they always say is patriotic  --  a feeling foreign and meaningless to them.

Forget for a moment the ancient metaphysical notion of individual men being
asleep in consciousness, and living largely in a dream, and consider that collectively, -- pooling all their best, combined intellectual resources,
humanity as a whole appears asleep and oblivious to an eternal, omnipresent reality outside their individual heads that causes them to march off to certain death
under the direction of other men who do not therein participate,
and for a proclaimed reason that is meaningless to those in command.

It is and always has been  --  as clear as can be  --  but do any see?
This is how ordinary human affairs are arranged my boy.
And of perhaps lesser immediate pertinence to the 98% is the fact that
the 2% in control of the planet’s wealth and power are not religious  --
they plainly have never been, and will only appear to be so when it is to their benefit.
Kings are never religious, indeed if the one embraced by the 98% he rules,
annoys him, he’ll simply start his own,
and the high priests themselves (of significance back when the church was
a political force) have never been religious;
these and their ilk have never been religious any more than they were patriotic.

And the last of the triumvirate the 98% hold highest  --  family,
is not experienced by the 2% as by the former;
to those controlling the planet’s wealth and power,
family is but a means of maintaining and consolidating the two;
those in the 98% speak of romance and love in the same breath as family,
while the concepts are as foreign to the 2% as are patriotism and religion.
All in all, my lad: the big three emotional traits that are instinctive, irrepressible,
and the driving cultural, spiritual, intellectual forces in 98% of humanity
are missing and meaningless to the 2% forever controlling the planet’s
wealth and political power  --
and it is not a matter that is consciously conspiratorial, or that the 2 % attempt to hide,
and nor are they in anyway superior beings, more awake or enlightened than the rest, indeed their intelligence, as is normally measured, is generally lower than average:
intelligence, insight, spiritual-gifts have nothing to do with it:
hormones do  --  the life of life does,
and it is an everywhere-at-once, all-the-time reality that a man cannot escape
anymore than he can membership in his species.

The reality of all I have above mentioned is as clear, obvious, all around you,
and out in the open as is the air you breathe, yet life has none consciously seeing it;
that can only be done by one of the anomalies of our special branch of the
human, nervous-system-tree.

Once you realize what is going on with your consciousness,
what is going on in the world outside your consciousness becomes also clear,
but whenever you lapse into puzzling over why the other 99.99999% of normal, intelligent, educated, sophisticated people cannot understand the individual matter concerning a man’s mind about which we speak,
just picture the much wider collective situation in which all men externally live
in which their physical lives are apparently under the firm control of
but 2% of humanity who can cause the other 98% to sacrifice their families,
renounce their religion, even give up their lives for feelings they have
which the 2% do not share.

It is funny the energy many have spent through the ages entangled in notions of
there being some sort of occult, secret knowledge, that if unearthed,
can either metaphysically enslave or liberate a man,
when they are inescapably surrounded by an in-your-face  --  supremely significant knowledge that yet manages to remain hidden from their ordinary consciousness.

So, from one view I could say: forget about digging out the dark, deep secrets
from your own mind and take a gander at the bright lit surface ones in which you
(if you don’t watch), and everyone else daily drown.

Ah, my boy, as is always true with pulling yourself up to see such sights as these
I’ve noted today: it makes your nervous system tingle with singular delight  --
just to be alive and see what is going on
while everyone believes they are rushing off to a fire.

vis a vis older, more hormonally driven neurons which are always threatening to dominate the rest.

     What would theoretically wake up all of humanity
     can sure as hell rouse your mind from its private repose also.
