The
world of man used to be one way --
then
it became another –
now
parts of it want it to be back to being like it was before --
quite noisy parts.
On
one world, after all the normal creatures had been made,
a
final bunch was produced who were split in two,
and
who soon concocted myths telling how they were originally whole creatures
who
had been cut asunder as punishment for something or other,
and
whose challenge now was to put themselves back into a unified condition.
The:
But
Department:
But!--
were it not
for the restraints of apparent dichotomies in the life of man,
the
ordinary ones could not think or speak as they now do.
And
one day one man was so suddenly struck:
“If
it weren’t for the past -- we’d be exactly as we are now!”
One
man explains that his periodic use of drugs and alcohol is for the purpose
of proving to himself that it is
possible for him to be even less conscious and perceptive than he normally
is.
Note:
only the dumb get dumber, and even they would not do so
had
they not been dumb to begin with.
When there is clearly no escape,
only those smart enough to potentially get out can see it.
The
mental confinement of the ordinary consists of their inability to realize
it.
(“Hey, don’t
waste your breath talking about the super efficiency of this-thing-or-that
–
no sir! -- not as long as life
is alive!”)
At
the conference, one man offered the suggestion that talking was an alien
virus that man had somehow contracted,
but
the conferees, being civilized, intelligent men, shouted down the idea.
City
Electrical Note: those who get a big
buzz from irony have substandard wiring in their home.
In
an attempt to cut costs and streamline services,
one
city asked that everyone who was guilty should just turn themselves in
--
and
you know what? -- not a single person asked: “Guilty of what?”
In one urban center, a notice was once posted -- then
quickly torn down:
“There is no such thing as, ‘Self-deception’ --
although many people here practice it anyway.”
One
man wants it known that he no longer feels the way he used to.
One sorehead says that what he dreads most about being dead is having to just, lay-there-and-take-it.
There
was once a certain activity going on, but with no one to witness it ........well,
that
is not exactly correct,
there
were
people constantly around it, but hardly anyone ever made note of it
--
but
here is the really interesting part:
the
activity itself was at the heart of the people’s ability to
make note.
Under
routine inner conditions: men cannot be both actor and witness to the acting
–
only
those with that strange urge can pull that rabbit out of that improbable
hat.
At
the convention, a man stood and said:
“As
representative of my constituency I want it known that I find nothing of
real value taking place here,” and from across the room,
a
voice declared: “But you have no constituency -- you represent no
one but yourself,” to which the man replied: “Ah yes! -- same as
us all.”
......Then
sensing a severe lack of meaningful audience response to his comment,
the
man said: “Okay: I make a motion that we all take a nap.”
The reality of ordinary humor is the same thing as the limitations of the ordinary mind.
A
couple of gods were just hanging out when the taller one said:
“I’ve
noticed that your little thinking creatures are as cute and bright as they
can be,”
and
the other one eyeballed him suspiciously and replied:
“Hey
-- is this a trick observation?!”
In the city: no one wants to know who their Daddy is.
(Translation: no one wants to know who or what is responsible for them
being as they are.)
According
to one legend: a being from another reality once visited Earth,
and
was struck most strongly by a particular feature of life here:
that
humans paid money to see men push, kick, hit and berate one another,
but
did not to hear someone explain what life is about.
The
father said to the son: “Anyone who says they dislike you is --
by so doing --
making themselves irrelevant to you.”
There is one form of reality about which there is no news (or more accurately):
Okay,
how about a really good legend:
man
originally appeared in the mountains of china,
then
as he developed, he moved to the deltas of india,
then
later, to the plains of hungary,
then
to the isle of england,
and
eventually, while no one was looking,
some
of them started sneaking back toward china.
We
await a conference’s announcement that the existence of a talking nervous
system is just a legend.
In
serve-yourself
chow tents, the rebel does not have to take a number & wait in line,
and
a reader emails: “Is there a real difference between a man who
actually
knows what is going on, and one who can simply talk good about it?
--
and
if so: how could the distinction ever be described in words?!”
That
which is mentally self-serving harms none who remain content to
dine
on their own parts –
the
circular nature of cannibalism is the circular reality of all
ordinary
mental activity...............................except back in china................for
a few.
One
man had a, philosophy-to-live-by
that was not fit to print, which was matched by his brother having a publishing
company that had no philosophy.
In one place, it is believed that, having-your-ducks-in-a-row is what creates
the row,
while in more civilized areas they scoff at such absurdity,
and a reader writes: “This is all giving me a terrible headache!
Is there a remedy available from china?”
At
the concluding dinner of the conference,
someone
leapt up on a table and began to sing:
“Oh you can --
talk about china,
or istanbul,
sound like you’re smart,
or resemble a fool --
oh you can talk about whatever
you wanna do, but uh uh honey
don’t talk about things that can’t be talked about.”
Notes
one man:
“There
seems to be near by to me, a never ending social gathering
with
the noise of constant moving about,
and
from which can be heard snatches of songs and snippets of conversations,
and
while it is clearly not a party for which I am responsible,
it
yet feels to be somehow an integral part of my life.
Strange the sensations that vague sounds in the night can put in your head.”
Often
when near a mirror, one man would approach it, scrutinize his reflection
intently, and say: “Haven’t I seen you before -- but somehow
in a different condition?! ............ .........ahhhh -- much
quieter, maybe?!”
The
man
who knows is his own
conference -- and his only one.
