CITY  ATTEMPTS  AT  SELF-IMPROVEMENT
ON  THE  RISE  AS  SELF  THERE  SEEMS INCREASINGLY  ELUSIVE

Ordinary mind is an eye that eternally looks  --   it never sees, but forever looks.

The antidote for man’s constant thinking-about-yourself is independent thinking,
assuming of course that you are by nature already so non partisan inclined
as to see such activity as a poison.
Only those with a willfully produced, second-born-self
could actually be self centered, but as it turns out, they are anything but.
Outside the city in the more liberated areas:
blenders who grasp the nature of electricity no longer dream of juice;
when you’ve got-it  --   you’ve got-it, and there’s nothing left to think about it.

Ordinary mind is an eye that eternally looks  --   it never sees, but forever looks;
the inner eye of the certain man sees  --  it sees, it sees,
and the illusion of him as the pivot to sight (which is what made him originally blind) is gone;
“Praise be!  for what I have lost  --   not what I have gained,
for everything worthwhile achieved by the certain man
comes by way of what he has shed.
     Praise be!  for all pertinent loss.”

Said a father to a son: “Even if you cannot presently shut up  --  you can at least stop   believing that there is anything serious in anything you say  --
you can do that much  --  right?!  --
lie to me if you must boy, but tell me that you can at least do that much!”
(A mind counseling itself is truly a comforting sight to behold, huh?!)

Legal News: As long as you live with the collective they will always have
The Right Of Eminent Domain over your thinking.
Corollary: Only the certain man can bail himself out of the trouble he is in  --
which presents a truly challenging picture in that since each man is
genetically his own boat, with his personally appropriate hull holes,
and life, all of the water below him and the air above him  –
how can he save himself from himself and his own natural environment? --    well, obviously he cannot  --
but just as surely does the certain man secretly accomplish this impossibility  --
via his mental realization of what is actually going on;
a feat that requires a mind that can see  --   not just forever look  –  but see.

The incessant pounding of the herd’s hoof beats keeps all therein
blind to the essence of collective living and thinking;
as long as life can keep your thoughts straying  --
you will remain glued to the herd and trouble to no one.
Said a son to a father: “That for which I am most thankful
is how you have always encouraged me to be privately disruptive.“

From a certain view, ordinary men see it as progress to get into a prison wherein the held, in a positive tone collectively yell:
“Yes!  --  we are imprisoned!"
Routine men & minds will freely bind themselves to ideas whose origins are
outside themselves under the unanalyzed color:
“Only ideas extrinsic to me can be superior to me!”
thus do the gods always live somewhere else,
and the info needed by man, some place other than his own brain.
In the areas of man’s mental confinement,
were there not the small illusions of progress there would not be
the overall illusion of progress that keeps the herd relatively content.
A strange sounding situation arises with those who realize what is going on:
they are bound by no notions of progress or failure;
in the abattoir, Dale Carnegie has no following,
and the mind that knows  --    knows there is nothing else to be known or achieved;
the whole world sleeps  --   only the realized, peacefully.

More difficult to fight than wrinkles and cellulite is, hardening-of-the-neural-network  --   --  verycoarse mental veins.
In the city, mental old age arrives with physical maturity;
things are arranged such that calves scarcely have time to try out
a few independent and creative bleats before the natural pressures of life
force them into songs of collectively acceptable, mature mooing;
it really does not matter, since ninety-nine point nine per cent of all men are not born with any meaningful desire to do otherwise or to explore any possibilities of individually developing outside the collective’s imposed paradigm;
normal brains have no wish to be-different  --  what’s the advantage in that?!
What good will thoughts do you that are in direct conflict with those that
govern the herd, the community, the nation, the religion  --
all of the necessary mental institutions designed to keep the blind from falling?!
Only the certain man himself understands what he is doing  --
--  and only he  --   after he has done it.
“That is another thing I like about you Pop,”  said a son:
“You never tried to tell me where I was headed.”
Not one travel itinerary available in any city is correct  --
by their very nature, they cannot be.
Only the certain man himself knows where he is going  --
--  and only he  --   after he gets there.

As irrational as it seems be: the greatest bar to sight for the few
is their natural, initial belief that they really know what they are doing;
the only son proper to the true mental father is one forever unpretending to knowledge.

When you finally enter the rarified realm of the realization:
the smartest man in the universe is also the dumbest  --
(and if you cannot find how to make practical use of this fact now  --   shame on ya).

Illation: the would-be independent thinker is prepared to be a
mental anomaly in his own home town.
“I’d throw me out of here if I could.”
     “And if I could  --   I’d let you.”

In the company of other captives  --  there is no one to give you a wake-up-call.

The independent thinker measures progress by the presence of silence and nothingness.
