Simple
fish believe they are captive of the school;
those
a bit more sophisticated believe ‘tis the water that confines them,
and
a few, very few more develop what is for fish,
an
enlarged mind and inner sight whereby they are capable of seeing,
and
processing information beyond the school or even the water --
indeed --
The
collective loves a cheerful giver -- as long as
what
he contributes adds to the myopia of all
(and if you are
interested in being so charitable, it's easy:
all you have
to do is do whatever you would do naturally).
Life
loves an enthusiastic giver to man’s collective mind --
he
sets such a good example for the other prisoners.
The
peril of staying local & self-centered in your thinking is that everything
that happens to you, rather than becoming material for fresh study about
life and yourself
becomes
just another personal anecdote to tell.
All
of the body’s interests are self-centered and properly so,
same
too for an ordinary man’s mind,
but
when it comes to realizing what is really going on in the game of life:
Man’s
fascination with outer space is an unrefined reflection of
the
mind’s desire to break free from its innate mental sphere,
and
move far enough away from itself to get an outsider’s, objective view of
what
it really looks like.
The
mind like the body is made to re
act –
the
certain man forces his to do something else.
After
undertaking the great struggle,
and
commonly falling lax,
one
man finally -- put himself
on notice! --
and
when that didn’t do any good -- he put himself on FURTHER
notice! --
and
when that didn’t work, said: “I can keep this up as long as you can!”
One
man says he cannot understand why people pay good money to talk to counselors
and psychiatrists when they already have a paid-for
mind
that
is just as dumb, confused and uncertain as a professional.
And
one man proclaimed: “I am a
professional -- which in the city means that
I
do not have to
know what I am doing;
being
known as a professional
covers that.”
(Sounds like
what your mind pulls on you all the time, huh?!)
The
thing about verbally labeling something about you which you consider to
be
a
problem,
is
that you then tend to expend your energy in continual mental reference
thereto
as
a substitute for any actual assault thereon.
The
mind believes:
“Once
we start talking about a particular problem --- we’re making progress”
--
(which
is okay if you live in the city and are satisfied there).
Unreconstructed
urbanites can sit in an arctic sidewalk café,
dreaming
of a south sea excursion, and be quite satisfied without ever going there;
for
the collective: a doubled barreled bonus;
for
the certain man: a misdirecting mental two step that must be continually
seen to.
If
fish are held by the ocean,
and
the oceans are held by the planet,
and
the planet is held by the solar system,
and
the solar system is held by the galaxy,
and
they all are held by the universe,
a
fish who is conscious of consciousness at least exists less in
a
sea of imaginary ins & outs.
"In
this man’s army, private: pretending you’re
in control
is
as close as you’re ever gonna come to being
in
control."
City
minds invented fiction in the feeble attempt to conjure up something
more
fantastic than life itself
(only the ordinary
ever believe they’ve succeeded).
As
long as he was on drugs one man didn’t care what happened to him,
and
when he was on drugs the things that would generally happen to him
were
the kinds of things that would not happen to him when he was not on drugs;
he
eventually concluded that his mind entered into all of this somehow,
what
with it being the world’s largest supplier and consumer of drugs.
Another
man thought he was demon possessed –
then
realized it was just his thoughts.
Standing
on the dock, a son asked a father:
“Why
can a ship sail into the wind, but not the wind into itself?”
(not the mind
into itself, my dear)
and
the father countered:
“Better
still consider: why can a ship/thoughts make headway by sailing into the
wind,
but
if the wind tries to sail into itself -- nothing moves?”
No
one’s story is ever told until they
tell it --
then
it is everyone’s
story -- just like it was to begin with.
Salt Song Update:
The
king always has traitors in court -- but not to fret:
they
make up
the court;
all
a true monarch has to fear is his own crown slipping down over his eyes,
blinding
him
(the certain
man understands that the facts never hurt --
only paper cuts
and stabs to the stomach do).
You
can suspect the worst! –
you
can suspect the best –
the
man on the move begins to suspect the mental thing doing his suspecting.
Being
conscious of consciousness forces you to be less automatic;
every
human knows this -- find one who lives by it
(p.s. you know where to look).
The
Four Stages Of A Rebel:
“I
wanna be a rebel.”
“Do
I look like a rebel to you?”
“Why
can’t people see that I am
a rebel” (and finally):
“Rebel?
-- what’s a rebel?”
Those-who-know
carry no I.D. -- I mean, identifying speech.
If
you accept your natural born mind’s analyses of what life is about
--
you
live in a dream, no matter your mind’s particular assays --
but, not to worry:
if
your primary place of residence is in your mind -- it doesn’t
matter anyway.
In
fact, the great thing about being ordinary-minded is that:
nothing
matters
(and indeed it
seems a shame that the ordinary cannot be aware of this,
[‘course if you’ve
taken to roaming around on your own outside the city,
you’ve got a
whole other ocean of fish to fry]).
The
Metaphor And Reality Of Suicide As The Ultimate Weapon:
one
man:
carried
a gun,
had
a knife,
kept
poison, and as back up
had
a book of Philosophy and an electric guitar.
Life
will tolerate almost anything except:
a
mouse holding up the sky;
fish
drinking their ocean
a
tree trying to take its leave, and a man attempting to.....well,
a
man attempting to do almost anything unexpected,
(such as doing
his dance with life while making it obvious that
he has in his
pocket the metaphorical threat of suicide).
The closest a component in a closed system can come to being forceful
is pretending
to be.
Another way to tell that your mind is truly civilized
is if it will struggle for survival as intensely as will the body –
those who've soared sufficiently far from the local site however,
are no longer interested in this illusionary life-&-death resistance.
There
was once a man who discovered a quite unattractive creature in his back
yard,
and
after pondering what to do about the situation for a number of years
he
finally asked the creature if it would go away if he stopped thinking about
it
(only the certain man knows what the creature replied).
If
city mind had nothing to worry about -- it would worry about that
-- and does!
(in case you haven’t noticed).
Being
conscious of consciousness is to be less at its immediate mercy.
After
a night of hard drinkin’ (and speeded-up, tinker toy thinking),
one
man would sometimes say to himself:
“The
inside of my head tastes almost as bad as the inside of my mouth”
(his brother
says the moral of this is probably that under certain conditions
you should keep
both your mouth and
mind shut).
Wolves
run only with wolves;
lions
only with lions,
but
human minds will run with anything
(and in the city
can can be heard deep sighs of gratitude for its lack of any discrimination).
In
the web of man’s collective consciousness:
everyone’s
thoughts are dancing with everyone else’s thoughts
(the certain
man‘s mind is not a wallflower, but a flower beyond the ballroom wall).
The
useless seriousness that permeates city dance floors comes from routine
minds
taking
any one strictly mental thing
to be more important than any other;
Thinking in ordinary ways about ordinary affairs is quite acceptable,
There
are no support groups to join for the expansion of consciousness.
“Help!”
cried a fish: “I am out here all alone.”
“What’s
wrong with you, you fool -- can’t you see the life all around
you?!”
“No
-- all I see is water.”
“You
foolish fish.”
Being
conscious of consciousness alters sight and depth perception.
Compared
to the numbing number of things which ordinary people believe would
make
them better people,
rebels
are different;
they
only see being-more-conscious
as what would do it for them.
To
be conscious of what you want
as
opposed to what your city born mind says you want --
is
to finally be conscious.
And
there is but one system for the expansion of consciousness worth mentioning,
and
the system is you.
A
man discovered a wondrous object that he could carry with him,
and
eventually realized that the steadier he held it,
the
more wondrous it became;
the
object is consciousness -- the system is you.
