MAN WHO SAYS HE
SEES HIMSELF EVERYWHERE,
CONFINED BY THE AUTHORITIES,
(THEY SAY)  -- "FOR HIS OWN GOOD"

CatchingOn is the ultimate exercise in individuality  –  certes, not,
mires you forever amidst the mob;
knowing for yourself is the only mark of a real person  --  verily, not,
confines you forever to the crowd.

Of what does man speak more highly than individuality,
and what is he less able to practice?!
Physically, man is a social animal, but mentally made laude inner individuality,
forsooth, progress appears a product of such:
useful inventions and enjoyable creations from committees come not  --
individuals are always their source.

By their genes, all humans, to varying degrees, desire a sense of individuality;
most, lacking needed talent, are limited therein to their speech and appearance,
and in this majority context, what appears new and individualistic today
will by tomorrow, be widely copied and made passé.
Trying to be individualistic overtly is a never-ending,
  never-more-than-a-day-succeeding
    struggle.
       (Just another of the normal tunes that keeps the common carousel going ‘round.)

Those born with a talent for invention or creation have their own sisyphus to push about, for no sooner (if they be successful) are they recognized for one work,
than both the public and their own thoughts clamor for more
(plus the fact that they will be swamped in thieves and imitators).

Everyone praises individuality  --
everyone wants to feel that such is their essence,
and everyone believes they know what that entails        -----       until  they are asked.
No one can answer, other than to offer examples of contemporaneously considered, outlandish (or offensive) speech, dress, behavior and mannerisms;
a penguin amid a pack wearing a waistcoat rather than tails,
and squawking: “That’s cool” instead of: “That’s hot” --
until: “That’s cool” is no longer cool.

If such satisfies a person --  then they be satisfied,
and why the hell are we even talking about it (for those who be not, Tommy Rot).
Even the ordinary sense that true individuality (if there be such a thing)
lies not in the physical and visible,
but in the untouchable, unseeable inner world of a man,
and they further feel frustrated in their attempts to grasp and articulate
what might constitute same in plain fact of reality;
just wearing a funny hat and speaking gibberish will not do,
nor will conceiving one trinket, or piece of technology,
nor writing one song, book or movie  --  and ultimately, not even multiple successes
in such areas afford even a man with talent, but an ordinary mind,
satisfaction of his individuality (some artists do feebly attempt to overcome this via a feigned public persona of near madness..............................nice try, but no individually rolled-for-you see-gar).

Be all of that as it may (and rest assured that it will),
there is but one act of which a human being is potentially capable
that in any way even remotely resembles, individuality, and that is:
catching-on to what is going-on --
life don’t get no more individualistic than that, mr. sprat.
This is the one  --   the only-ever-was  --   the only-ever-will-be
distinction marking any individual homo sapien from the other six billion milling all around him --   and symbolically  --  in him  --  in the old, common part of his cortex.

With no criticism carried: humanity collectively is incapable of generating
original thought, (or for those who can hear it: is not allowed to be an outlet for);
the mental grasp of what life is about is beyond (or denied) man collectively;
he guesses  --   he speculates  --   he debates, and believes himself to ponder deeply  --
but as witnessed by the results: it is all but a game --  a harmless hallucination;
the standard-born brains of men are not wired nor programmed to deal in thoughts that too directly look first, at what is going on outside of them,
and secondly, at themselves: at their nature as interpreters of what goes on extrinsic to them (which, if the two are correctly combined, of course, chief gray horse,
would result in a man: CatchingOn     -----       no, no, no! --  tut tut, and naughty naughty!)

Even if you were born with traces of that CertainHunger
you blow your potential whenever you think, pro or con
about anything that the rest of humanity is talking and (quote) “thinking” about;
you do not don yourself in individualistic garb by alternations of the prevailing dress, no matter your sincerity nor the extremes of the changes;

you have to internally abandon the entire human mental style  --  go nude;

you don’t argue with mortal thought or be rude  --
you just shut up and go nude;

you even  --  and especially  --  shut up with you......well,
you stop paying any serious listening attention to what  the old-timey, out of fashion,
socially acceptable thoughts say which continue to be force fed to your head.

From a certain view:  true individuality is disappearance.

Bon voyagee, Cpt. Me

…..oh yeah another neat thing about all this:
not only does no one else recognize the true individuality you achieve by
catching-on to what is going-on,
but if you tell anyone, you momentarily lose it.
