“Ranchers
always try to convince cows that their interests are the same.”
“Why do they even bother -- everybody knows how stupid cows are.”
“Cows
stupid? -- it’s the ranchers talkin’ to ‘em and tryin’ to win ‘em
over!”
Notice: this story only concerns what it says it does -- nothing else.
Everyone
survives by either growing something, or promoting something,
(always
inedible, by the way).
If
you want you may ponder this in regard to men always promoting themselves,
and
the question of their ever growing.
"Why
it's downright shocking --
and exhilarating --
how
everything -- down to the tiniest pieces -- fits.................when
you see that it does."
All
of man’s cultural studies are the mind’s unrecognized attempt to study
itself
while
not directly looking at itself...........which
most people cannot do anyway.
There
are in truth only two studies; science (that of the physical world),
and
everything else (which is the attempted survey of the human mind itself,
no
matter how oblique or camouflaged the endeavor be);
ChasingTheThing
is doing it out in the open -- where failure can be recognized
for
what it is -- and be embarrassing ----
(a little humor..... perhaps).
Men
do not want to be mentally peaceful, nor do they want others to be:
when
not chasing food, the body likes to be placid:
the
mind, on the other hand, is always hungry for excitement and spice;
news,
advertising, gossip, propaganda, your day dreams,
and
all forms of so-labeled, leisure-time-activities being clear demonstrations
thereof.
The
metaphysically minded (and other fans of the inner
reality) are given to describing their activities
as, The Exploration
of new dimensions rather than what
it is:
the
creation
thereof,
(but
what else is to be expected -- that is after all, the one and only
way that specialized world expands and survives.)
A
despot said: “If I wanted to subject a people to a grueling and relentless
punishment
I
would have them governed by a philosopher ” --
(this
is actually what life said regarding man's mental kingdom).
“I
have read your writings,
but
could you tell me more specially what it is you are talking about.”
“What do you think it is?”
“I
don’t know.”
“You’ve got it.”
A
person wanting to get to the bottom of things is like a man in a village
who
does not like the others --
when they are around --
because
when they are --
he becomes just like them.
Parts
of man’s brain are brilliantly probing --
and others,
astoundingly credulous in comparison.
Question:
If given the choice, would you prefer to be:
ignorant,
ambitious and cocksure -- or: knowledgeable and uninterested.
A
father’s advice to a son:
“Do
what you do but do not explain whyyou
do it,
In
the jungle a man is known by the number of people he has killed;
in
the city, by the amount of wealth he has collected,
and
in the one place that counts -- they keep no accounts.
(The
worth of a man-who-knows -- only he knows;
others
are free to speculate -- same as are snails on next year’s
Preakness winner.)
A
son came into the house and said to the father: “Billy down the block says
that to do what you did to get-to-the-bottom-of-things
takes someone half brilliant & half crazy. What do you say to
that?!"
“I say:
is there any chance I could trade you for him?”
In a group of men discussing a problem,
Far
too easily is the noting of irony taken for understanding –
especially by the noter.
One
man, long chasing the answer,
said,
somewhat sardonically, to his thoughts, following another of their comments
:
“Don’t
try to help!”
---- (as
though they had ever done so).
The
following fact alone should be sufficient to profitably jar a receptive
mind:
there
is nothing a man can forget concerning non physical matters
that
will do him any harm.
“Now
you
point it out!”
groans one man.
After
talking much about sex, one man finally said: “What could be better than
sex?!” to which someone replied: “It without talk about it,”
which
caused the man to suddenly think: “Great
Zeus! -- how true!
--
and
how grand it would be if you could have talk without all the talk!”
When
one man read:
“Two
are truly in love if they cannot keep a secret from each other,” he wheezed:
“I’m
a dead man if my wife finds out about my mind and me!”
Be
assured that a man has not found, TheTruth
if he describes it --
--
to any
one.
When
you hear men talk, if you cannot tell that everyone in the world is being
fed
their thoughts from the same source you are deaf -- or
not listening.
At
any given instant, all of mankind’s ideas concerning their inner reality
are
just repetitions of the same theme.
Bor-ring!
-- and meaningless as well.
Wanting to get-that-view is like having a brain fever ------ that is under control.
People
who talk about their self have something to conceal --
the fact that
there
is nothing about them worth concealing.
(Free
Bonus Point: Anyone who ever refers to their self by name
has
no more notion of what humans are than does a fern, or a pressure valve
on a water heater.
Just
as the very safest sex is no sex at all --
so too with dozing off.
Okay, here's the setup:
The
only men who will die for an idea
are
men who do not understand the nature of ideas.
Even
though words are ultimately of no consequence,
once
a man knows what he is doing in his investigation,
he
can make valuable use of them by constantly reframing his descriptions
to himself of what he is studying.
Men are not antagonistic to knowing the truth -- just apathetic.
“I
figure that if you live long enough, everything that could happen to you
will.”
..................“Say
--
what month is
this anyway?”
