STORIES
ABOUT PEOPLE, PLACES & THINGS
(WHICH ARE
ALL ACTUALLY ABOUT THE MIND)
La
république des goobers.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One
man says: “If we could not think --
just
think how much more we would have to do!”
How true.
There
is no substitute for doing like thinking:
just
not
doing won’t do --
you
must think
about not doing -- then everything falls into
place.
One
doctor’s claim is that next to having great wealth,
the
most important thing in life is good posture;
............compared
to the former (he notes) it amounts to practically nil,
but
still he figures, it is probably at least number two...........in
case you’re interested.
One
guy surmises that if men eliminated all that is unnecessary from their
everyday
speech, their minds would then be free to pursue goals more lofty than
their
everyday, present ones.
(Zeppelins are tethered to nitwits; rockets anchored by nincompoops.)
One
father said to a son:
”Leave
discussions of man’s instincts (which cannot be changed) to biologists,
and
talk of his psyche (which is illusory) to psychologists and priests,
and
concern yourself only, my boy, with sports scores and weather forecasts,
(when
of course, you are not otherwise occupied watching television, or playing
video games).”
There
are two forms of being clever: in the way you live life,
and
in the way you talk about life.
Only
the most boorish people actually laugh.....................................(and
those putting you on).
Another
example of how the mind is:
a
landscaper who had joked to a client that the moss
he had not been able to clean out from between some bricks was in fact
the latest trend,
later
said the same thing to his mother when she asked about a similar problem
on her patio -- and it sounded right to him then --
even though he knew he had made it up.
Whenever
this one guy would turn a corner and unexpectedly bump into life,
he’d
point his finger and cock his thumb like a pistol and say:
“Okay
-- freeze, maggot!”
then
he and life would have a good laugh, punch each other on the arm,
and
continue on their separate ways............................................(least
that's how he tells it).
So
noted a father to a young child:
“Your
brain will never stop day dreaming as it does now,
but
when you become an adult and can have purposeful thoughts,
you
are supposed to always remember what day dreams are,
and
not confuse them with actual thinking.
It
sounds simple, but this is what some grown ups call the difference between
being mentally a real person and being the mere approximation of one.”
Dear
Sir: “I feel certain that your daily writings are an expose of something
important, but I’ll be damned if I can figure out what.
Yours,”
etc.
As
regards, screwin’-around-with-the-mind,
an
auto mechanic offers this (we can only assume, allegorical) advice:
“In
your introductory friendliness with a previous customer,
ask
him about anything -- even his wife’s sexual habits
--
before
you do about how the last repair you did for him is holding up.”
The
biggest stumbling block for man is his failure to recognize that he does
not know what he thinks until he says it -- oh, everyone denies
this when they hear it --
but
they don’t know that they do until they say so.
See?!
Wanting
to awaken is wanting to complete an incompleted puzzle in your mind;
only
those who succeed in awakening realize not only that the puzzle
is incompleteable,
but more importantly -- why.
When
you know how to quit trying, you will discover how to finally make
profitable
effort toward the GreatGoal.
Men’s
ideas of a certain fire
being
a sacred symbol of their god,
and
claiming the flame seen now is the same one lit a thousand years ago,
and
is thus the perfect representation of the deity's eternalness,
is
unwittingly, but extraordinarily --
right-on --
in that
while
the fire is perceived as being unchanged for all this time,
the
one seen now is in no part the one extant even an hour ago;
so
too does the mind of man change throughout time regarding everything it
thinks, and yet if it is asked to ponder itself in this regard,
the
mind will say it sees no such changes occurring in itself.
(Being an absolute ruler is not just good -- it is downright
scrumptious!)
Only
the most boorish ever get angry................................................(and
those putting you on).
To
mind’s eye, geography shrinks the further you get from your home base,
e.g. people in Norway believe that if Australians stand on step ladders
they
can see Antarctica,
and
neurons in the speech area of the brain, who do not understand what is
going on, believe that those in the cortex do, (as
do the dumb ones in
the cortex also).
And
another chap writes:
“I
have been reading you for over a year and still do not get the point?!”
Well, finally! --
at least a semi
intelligent reader!
Just
as some wag has wagered that he would not go out with any woman
who
would date the likes of him,
one
man says the same about any thoughts that appear naturally in his cranium.
(“Out, Spam Dot!”
-- driven from the soul meeting......................................like
when percy lost the faith.)
Endlessly
circumnavigating a shrine while chanting a mantra, fingering beads,
spinning
prayer wheels and keeping count of the number of times
you
have performed the activities,
is
the mind, at its best -- practicing mind,
I mean religion.
(It could however, to run at absolute maximum, include periodic shouts
of curses).
A
father reminded a son thus: “Submit every thought that comes to your mind
which
either you or some sizable segment of humanity considers important,
to
the question: ‘What if?
-- what if my present thought about this matter
is
upside down -- inside out, or in some other way
a
totally different picture of how it really is?
Or
what if there is a facet to this affair which no one has ever realized?’
--
constantly
do this, my boy, instead of blindly accepting your
automatically
appearing thoughts’ explanations of things,
-- which are in fact, are not yours anyway.”
For
the alert few, there are two names for everything;
the
one that everybody else knows it by,
and
the one they know nothing about.
“You
do realize by now, do you not my son," inquired a father,
"That
if you would chase any one idea, regardless of what it is, to its absolute
end,
everything
in the universe would be explained to you?”
“Yes, I do -- and I would really appreciate it if you
would stop reminding me.”
Whenever
there was applause and shouts of approval at a sporting event,
this
one man would stand and take a bow, (even though he did say
it
was a bit of an embarrassment -- but that he felt he owed it
to his fans.)
And
someone asks: “Is he talking about something that occurs in his own head?”
The
distinction that definitively divides the few from the pretender-few
is
that the latter want other people to know & acknowledge that they are
right,
while
the true few
are only interested in them knowing that they are,
(or are becoming so).
Only
the most boorish ever agree or disagree with you, (along
with those who are putting you on.)
The
dialectic approach to religion is its best practice,
and
unwittingly the clearest example of what it is: an on going mental dispute.
If arguing ever had a purpose -- this is it.
“Son,”
said a concerned father, “There is probably nothing more important than
being insincere in all matters of the second reality.”.........................(at
least he appeared
concerned.)
“Standing
on the shoulders of giants is a tricky business,” notes one chap,
“You
have no idea how difficult it was just to get my feet above my waist.”
“Son,
you do realize that anyone who takes offense at a statement about man
deserves
it?”
“Yes.”
“And
if they are one of us -- deserves it --
and then some?”
“Yes.”
If
a particular fact makes you sneer, or feel cynical,
it
is not a fact -- it is personal indigestion.
