THE HEAD IS A LOVELY  HUNTER

THE NEWS

Everyone’s mind constantly takes up a local, defensive position;
seeing the life of life only as isolated episodes.

If mind could just get its mind off of itself, (off its host, actually),
it could realize that life itself is alive,
and reap all of the benefits such a realization would entail  --   but it does not;
it cannot even comprehend its position amidst the situation:
“Oh! the crash was terrible!  I couldn’t sleep for weeks” --
thought automatically moves from the incident it witnessed
to how it says it feels about having seen it.

Mind naturally treats itself as though it is an outsider to life;
this alone makes possible the science of Ecology, the sport of Politics,
the hobby of Religion,
and renders men able to needlessly worry about the health of life.

Proverb Update: No mother has an ugly child   --   unless she is awake.

Proverb Erratum: Necessity will teach a stupid man either to: wise up,
                                 go to sleep, or die.

Proverb Extender: He who rides a rabbit is not afraid to dismount  --
                                  he simply has no cause to.
                                        (Bum-mer!  mister bunny!)

There was one man who found himself in a crowd…

   One man had a visitor…

      For many years one man felt there was a continual attempt afoot to kidnap him…

If the right people would just pursue any of the following posers to their bottom, they would discover all they need to know...........................all there is to know:

Why the move from arranged marriages to the notion of romantic love?
Why the popular denouncement of such a perfectly fine emotion as lust?
Why does man so erroneously vilify man as being singularly malicious?
Why, since thought is the only feature of man that wants to know what man is, does man not want to know what thought is?
Why will a man insist to a child: “It is very important for you to study
Marx, Marcus Aurelius,  Malcolm X, The Torah, The Koran” –

 but never to just study life directly?

Free time is the only time for doing something worthwhile  --  ergo:
make your personal time cost you nothing by realizing that
nothing is worth whatever its cost in your time or attention.
(Behind your back, the second reality sings:
“I Can Get Along Without You Very Well.................seeing as how I don’t, ‘get-along’ anyhow.”)

Each person’s desire to awaken is an effort to justify their own natural temperament.

One man says: “I believe I am beginning to better understand mind.
As a man next to me at a counter was putting an artificial sweetener in his coffee,
just to be silly I said to him that a recent study had shown that even rats and roaches won’t touch that stuff when it was put in front of them  --
and now, even though I know I made it up --
I cannot use a sugar substitute without being bothered by what I heard me say.”

Looking upon the sundry human personalities & poser machines
sitting on the runway, one man said to himself:
“You’ll never get me up in one of those things.”

A lump appears when talk is too far removed from the action it refers to,
viz: the apparent distance between your thoughts & your hands --
or, it can be something else;
it can be signifying the importance of the speaker,
e.g. the power of a king’s proclamation in distant territories.

All people who will say they want to help you have one thing in common:
they can’t.
All people who will say they want to help you have another thing in common:
they want something from you, (usually money --  always recognition).
All people who will say they want to help you have yet one more thing in common: they need help.

It is necessary that you try to think about waking-up
more than anything else in the world;
it won’t do you any good   --
but it is necessary.

One man said: “Whatever it is, I don’t want to hear about it
if it includes me, or any other named person.”

Satire is perhaps the most pathetic of all failures to be creative.*

   Only a man-who-knows is not exempt from his blanket criticisms of everyone else.

      One man thought: “I am my own worst nightmare”  --   then thought:
     “But I am also splendid enough to realize it” --  then was finally struck:
     “And also sufficiently magnificent to understand what it all means.”

Mind: An imaginary box of shadows.
The shadows are the closest there is to anything substantive & permanent
in the whole affair.

People who respond to personal questions relish the dream;
they enjoy being dazed and uncertain,

A possum loses interest in humans when they become interested in marsupialism.

Talking about your life doesn’t change a thing      ----       about life.

A man who knows-what-he-is-doing does not do anything non physical to
make himself, feel better   ---     to justify or explain himself.

In the beginning, you unwittingly and unavoidably exaggerate
the extraordinary nature of wanting to awaken;
later on you do not properly estimate its non extraordinariness.

Having no idea what is going on is man's greatest failure to be creative;
being a critic is next;
being a satirist comes after that;
satirists are critics trying to raise their stock
just as cynics are idiots with an improved vocabulary.

As is well known to man,
it is life’s crudest forces which still drive most people most of the time,
and yet the fact is not permanently taken into consideration  --
                                                particularly as concerns oneself.

Under routine conditions, if you can talk for more than 50 seconds without whining,
or expressing some dread,  you could be enlightened.

A man who believes that he has seen it all has committed suicide --

--  and yet his heart continues to beat.

Even if you have seen all there is to see  -  you can still see it from different angles,

and profit therefrom.

Things That, If You Would Do,
Would Force You Out Of Your Present State Of Mind:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do not answer questions about yourself.
Never reveal how you feel.
Do not allow your mind to think the same thought more than thrice.
Never let your eyes sit still and vacantly stare.
Do not say what you think about any given matter.
Never let your thumb bend unless your hand is working on something.
Do not agree or disagree with anyone else’s ideas.
Never think about the future.
Only speak when you are forced to.
Do not listen to your thoughts regarding anything that cannot be touched.
Entertain no thoughts of the past.
Never complain, whine or criticize anything or anyone;
    verbally act as though no other specifically identifiable human exists;
    react not to anything anyone says about you  --   and for sure don’t
    waste your time and make a fool of yourself worrying about life’s health.

*Smugness is the consolation for those who even fail at satire.

Any man who thinks he is an exception to anything he says is an approximation of a man.*
