There's
a great cosmic train a’runnin’ --
and
e’er, (as far as man knows), has it run, and e’er, (so far as he knows),
will it run,
but
parts of it, man tries to stop;
having
never succeeded separates him not from his expectations of doing so.
There's
a great cosmic train a’runnin’ –
it
runs through man; it runs everywhere around man;
its
running is what makes man man,
and
its running is what makes possible his awareness of
its running;
yet
parts of it, man believes should be stopped,
regardless
of the mischief this would cause,
which
he would realize with a moment’s clear thought.
There's
a great cosmic train a’runnin’ –
the
words you are reading now are riding thereon,
and
what you think about them are passengers also.
The
great train rides itself;
the
great train steps aside and describes itself;
the
great train, in a railroad dream, imagines the train it sees is a train
other than itself;
if
this was not the only train there is it would be tempting to say that the
old dear has jumped its tracks
---- BUT ---
have no fear! It will do you no good anyway –
it
is the only train there is, so you will ride it to the end
whether
you understand what is going on or not.
A man who knows how to truly wring the most out of his life is one who would offer/try to trade his wholesome biscuits for sweet jam to go on them.
You can be buried with sugar or buried with salt:
the cost and significance is the same.
In the game of life, only your stomach & muscles keep score;
mind forgets a round, quick's it’s over.
Nothing man non physically creates actually adds to the nature of life,
only to the ways of killing time while we live it.
One man did not take himself personally.....since, he said,
Those
who mistake two o’clock for the year two thousand
will
be those who perceive luck to roll only downhill,
and
that the ill conceived furies of destiny displaces deserved fortune
in
the lives of meritorious men..........such as themselves.
“It’s all a constipational!”
“You mean, conspiracy?”
“Yeah......right.”
The life of man makes no sense unless you realize that life is alive --
and then it just barely does.......................................in brief
glimpses.
“Man, is anything stranger than the idea of, waking-up?!”
"Yeah, I know what you mean...................except
for not wanting to.”
One
man says: “I give no thought to the things the rest of humanity worries
about;
they
are not intelligent enough to be concerned about anything important.”
You
cannot understand what being asleep is,
and
if you cannot understand why this is so -- you can never
wake up.
Or:
Enlightenment is not enough -- you must understand what enlightenment
IS,
(and this does not include any explanation with the word God in it).
A
son said to a father:
“In
the past when you spoke to me on a matter it was always in great detail
--
with
many examples to illustrate the point you were making;
but
now it seems as though you speak in shorthand.”
“How experienced were you then?”
“That
experienced.”
“And how experienced are you now?”
“Ah!
-- experienced enough to make the observation.”
Something
that makes some people feel good
is
to hear that famous spiritual teachers are miserable.
Whenever he was criticized one man would think:
“Man, are you too late to ride that horse.”
Icons can be appreciated by artists, and rituals by historians,
but they are only needed
by those with underdeveloped brains.
Whenever he would do something stupid one guy started saying to himself:
“Just shows how awake I am!”
Talk
only sounds like what it is -- just talk,
while
the realization of what is going on --
sings
to you.
