THE JOLLY TALE OF THE FEW IN THE LAND OF BUTCHERS
The
only way to realize that
SpecialAmbition
is to:
“Watch
the grinder -- not the sausage;
watch
the sausage machine
-- not the product coming from it.”
To
non locals these directions would sound quite simple, and easy to follow:
“Look
at Point A instead of looking at Point B,”
but
in The
Land Of Butchers this
matter flows not as smoothly in practice
as
it does from the tongue.
Ask
people there if they recognize the distinction between
the
sausage machine and the sausage that comes out of it,
and
they will smile at your seeming silliness:
“Why
certainly -- any fool knows the difference!”
and
in fact, in apparent support there of their words for the two set them
totally apart with no verbal clue as to any connection,
for
they do not call the two: “sausage and the sausage machine”
(as
‘twas above done), but rather: “sausage and the grinder”
so
that the source of the product does not publicly proclaim any nexus therewith.
Except
for the Few
Family,
people in The Land Of Butchers
speak,
and
to themselves, think
about
sausage as though it has an existence entirely unconnected with the grinder;
but
they are not deranged, for if you broach the subject directly
they
will instantly concede that it is from the grinder that all sausage comes,
but
the second immediately following that --
their
awareness thereof zeroes out once more.
But
the majority step gets even porkier and goes off in a totally surprising
direction:
the
routine citizens there never look
at their grinder -- never;
say
this -- and they will deny it;
they
will point to the active archives of their Philosophers, their Psychiatrists,
their
Neurologists, and to their own personal conversations,
which
they say clearly reveal their constant interest in the grinder;
but
this is not so -- and only a few can see it is not.
What
the majority there say is them talking about the grinder
is
always them talking about the sausage
-- always;
and
how such a thing can occur can be pleasantly discussed for years,
but
words & speculations, no matter how entertaining,
do
not shed blood in the slaughterhouse.
If
you will look with an eye as clean and dedicated as T-cells
you
can see this matter, which is quite astounding, and moreover,
will
bring those but-dazed cows finally to their knees.
People
do not look at their grinder -- only at the sausage;
tell
them they do not -- they will adamantly deny it –
but
their denial is unwitting real time proof that they do not -- and
only fool themselves,
for
even as they stand there defending themselves from the accusation –
had
they just been looking at the grinder -- their denial
would not have been possible.
In
operation, here is the best verbal shot at its detailing.
To
the ordinary people in The Land Of Butchers
--
--
even though they certainly do not think about it or analyze it like this:
sausage
seems to inherently contain information about the grinder
from
which it comes -- and so profoundly is felt this sense of this kinship
that
in actual, normal practice no one there makes a distinction between
the two,
and
as improbable as it would sound to an outsider,
the
ordinary people of that place never look directly at
their grinders,
This
failure has no effect on the people there collectively;
their
routine and quite robust commercial dealings go quite well
with
them both continually talking about sausage,
when
in truth they are referring to the grinder,
and
living complete, normal lives without ever looking directly at
their grinder.
And
here is the radical divide between the ordinary, majority of people in
The
Land Of The Butchers and the few:
only
those ChasingTheThing
take their mind seriously and look directly at it --
Only
the neurally sound, struggling to
Awaken,
(and few of them),
ever
come to realize that the entire endeavor to DoTheThing
takes
place solely in the grinder:
there
is no sausage that will aid you;
no
old sausage -- no contemporary sausage;
no
sausage that any other human has ever ground can help you,
(once
you become cold blooded & clear headed enough to see it),
and
finally -- if you are to step onto the fast, more scenic track,
you
realize that even your own sausage is no help –
in
fact at that point -- it is a hindrance -- an attractive-nuisance:
something
that seems entertaining but in truth is dangerous --
(to children).
There
is no Great Secret Work; no magical, spiritual, mystical,
metaphysical,
supernatural systems, schools, methods, disciplines, teachings concerning
ThisThing
-- o! -- indeed there are,
and
without them, none of the few would have ever gained even a
slight
notion of what it was that had been gnawing at them
for
as long as they could remember,
but
to ever reach anything resembling adulthood in this wondrous inner
adventure,
you
must somehow, on your own, come to the simple, private realization that
all
of the various schemes ever contrived by the few
to
bring about a radical shift in one’s consciousness of self and life
are
but diluted, misdirected efforts to:
It
seems not immediately useful, eye opening or Enlightening
to
have this directly pointed out before you find it out for yourself --
--
but here it is nonetheless.
If
you persist in ThisThing
the time
will surely arrive when you will suddenly see that there is nothing to
read, nothing to hear, nothing to do other than one thing:
You are not looking for anything -- you are just looking,
There
is little to be usefully known about your sausages:
go
ahead and look at them (which you no doubt have been
doing all of your life),
you
can get their whole story in no time:
now
look at only the grinder -- just the grinder;
pay
no attention to the sausage coming out --
there
is nothing in it that will assist you at all in your ambition –
but:

similarly does a routine mind maintain a semblance of sanity
by
keeping its attention only on the thoughts that are natural to it.
