JAN'S MUSCLE BEACH FOR THE MIND*
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

One man notes: “Though I am not by nature much alert & perceptive,
I am sometimes so by chance,”
and upon hearing this, a mystic mused: “How’d he get in my head?!”

The thing that everyone wants to know,
(the many  --  fancy dressed, the few  --   buck naked),
is always circling around the edges of your mind  --
which should clue you severely into something explosive!  --   inasmuch as
your mind has no edges!

It starts off mysterious, complex and hidden and ends up being everyday,
straightforward and obvious.

Anyone (besides a mystic of course) who takes anything they do in life besides eating --  seriously --  is ridiculous        ---      normal  --   but ridiculous.
(Indeed, any undertaking besides farming, and fighting in territorial wars
is at least mildly ridiculous when seen from just the right perspective).

One father said to his son:
“I talk only about the mind since you cannot talk about what I want to talk about.”
“I knew that   --   in my mind, I knew that.”

Even though mind is not what we are,
it is the only thing that wants to know what we are.

'Tis been said that: “All heiresses are beautiful”
and for the few: All thoughts rich in explosiveness are comely.

Only the nervous feel it is a man’s duty to be happy.

JUST A SUGGESTION
If you never claim to be anything in particular, you can never be found a fraud.
(Pass that on to your thoughts!)

ANOTHER DIALOGUE
“Do you want to know what I think of you?”
”Leave us be more accurate: what you mean is:
Do I want to know what you THINK you think of me.”

Nobody wants to take the time to, breathe-deeply --
it interferes with the passenger's yacking to himself and the mute driver.

A real man will get jet lag just from getting off his own consciousness
and onto a commercial type.

THE WISE WORD FOR THIS ORDINARY DAY
The evil are held in check only by fear of a bad reputation after they die.
(Yes, wise ordinary words for ordinary wise men...........yes  --   yes indeed.)

Anyone who claims to be awake is a fraud......(there’s probably supposed to be
more to this)..............is a fraud if he also says he opposes anything,
(other certainly than someone grabbing his date or his Dom Pérignon).

The only histories upon which you can rely are the ones written by those who had command of the events they describe, or those who were victim of the events.
(Yes indeed, the never-fail enlightenment of historical reflection….......my yes.)

One man notes: “I am a huge  --  HUGE supporter of the concept:
Live and learn ..............................................................well, half of it.”

After you finally realize what thought is really about
you will not only no longer be bothered by what other people think,
you will not even be interested.

Consider:
If this is the attitude toward thought of a man who knows what is really going on,
what does that say about thought?

A mentally awake man is one who can read history without constantly criticizing
what he reads occurred.

CONTEMPORARY PROVERB MADE TO SOUND ANCIENT, (or perhaps ‘tis vice versa?!)

Only he is honest who is not discovered;
only he awake who does not speak and give himself away.

One father's advice to a son:
“Your approach to awakening should be robust and straightforward,
like trying to bed a married woman  --   not cautious like approaching a virgin.”
......(and to himself the lad mused: “My old mental ways are certainly a virgin not.”)

In Re: THE CASE OF THE MISSING CONSCIOUSNESS

the PrudentProsecutor has but one counsel  --   the one he keeps to himself.

One man’s response to any dogmatic or official sounding statement
was always the same: “As opposed to what?”

It is said that only the strong survive   --    but even they do not.
(Tell that to your pushiest thoughts!)

The condensed version of the mind’s life long harangue is:
“They have no right to think that!”

The mind’s sense of history of itself is but an ostensible solidification of
dreams and missed trains;
mind’s memory of other men’s minds  --   acts of calumny.

Real thinking is not merely reacting to someone else’s thoughts --
that is what civilians loosely call thinking.

What is the one sure-fire, never-fail, always-on-target way to tell if someone is asleep, and do not know what they are talking about?

      They are talking.

A visitor once asked the Chief Mystic in that certain location:
“What is the…”  “Funniest word in the world? --  blasphemy.”
(Some visitors are given a souvenir token when they leave,
and from a few, one is taken.)

If you are not in endless rebellion against the thoughts that invade your own brain
you are not by any stretch, ChasingTheThing.

One man who was a mentor to himself, so advised his primary pupil:
“Think in epigrams  --  speak by silence.”

To even acknowledge a foe is to strengthen him.
And a man asked the world’s greatest expert in the matter of awakening:
“What is being asleep?” and he replied:
     “Being a what?!”

HOW THE MIND WORKS (Part 267):  An expensive bookmark improves reading.

All histories of particular men’s enlightenment, if you were not witness  --  are romance.

Happy is he,

                                                                 with out a his-toe-ree.

Mind’s problem is that it cannot get its arms around itself.

A man who knows-what-is-going-on is not your friend;
he is also not your enemy     --    he is not anything to you;

only you can be anything of significance to you.

To wake up, achieve enlightenment & get to the bottom of things, here’s what to do: think of every thought it is possible for a human to think of --  but one --

then never think of that one.

Advice is to consciousness as cocaine, et al  is to other operations of the brain.

Insofar as there being any special methods to reach TheGoal:
if a man who-knows looked back on how he apparently got where he is --
and tried to explain the process he used  --  he might say something like this:

What works  --  works.
