To be of ordinary consciousness, (and asleep in the deep),
is to be mentally awash in trivialities;
by better names they may go  --  but trivialities still they be.

Constantly is it demonstrated that everyone feels their thoughts to be about matters of import, and have devised the word, joke to distinguish the ideas they
infrequently express that are exceptions.

What ordinary people would identify as routine day dreams still concern affairs
which they see as significant to them, (the new car they want to acquire;
the old foe they want to harm; a past wrong they wish to right),
and as commonly realized, what a man’s mind says is important to him,
is important to his mind regardless of what anyone else’s mind may say.

No ordinary person with a mind flooded in ordinarily conceived of, important matters can ever be made to see the matters otherwise,
(and certainly no one awake to what is going on would attempt same);
there are a variety of basic matters which apparently,
(based on clearly obvious operational evidence),
collective humanity is intended to find quite important to think about
and by no means are meant to ever be seen as trivial.

All of man’s abiding cultural institutions serve some necessary function,
and nothing will survive in his collective attention that is not taken to be
a matter of urgency and significance;
jokes are short lived  --   tales of gods live forever.

Of specific interest to the few seeking the bottom to everything
is the above’s private performance in your own head;
forget about other people’s minds’ immersion in pseudo important, trivialities,
and even about your old mind’s expression of  its trivialities in conversations with others, and zero your attention onto what goes on relentlessly in your own mind
while you are alone and silent.

There is nothing to usefully assume other than that the purpose of thought,
like any other function in any other creature, is to help man survive, and any thoughts thereto pertinent can only be rationally deemed --  important --  certainly not trivial.
But thought spends little of its time directly so engaged,
but continues to treat all of its activities with the same high regard:
like a dedicated scientist who is so engrossed in his significant subject
that when he leaves his work and enters into games of play
he carries on even leisure time activities with an unmistakable,
and unshakable air of seriousness (to some, verging on pompousness) –
but he cannot help acting so  --  for this is what he is:
the important nature of his work requires that he have a nature of
basic seriousness whereby those things which seem to be the general occupation of his mind are matters of importance  --  not trivialities.

This is everyone’s natural born condition of mind;
it is a scientist and serious problem solver by nature,
and is hard pressed not to treat seriously whatever else to which
it may turn its non essential attention, (bankers can scarce be turned into ball players,
and all comedians want to play Hamlet).

A person with the innate potential to ever develop, (so to speak), a new mind
can soon recognize all this once it is noted,
and then can pin point the focus of his investigation onto the the supreme
mental, trivial engrossment:  that of being totally caught up in your own thoughts.

The primary survival purpose of thought was to interpret the environment  --
--  but it also repels it  --  via criticism thereof;
men mentally trash their non physical environment and reject it by
their thoughts’ continual fault finding,
primarily of other men’s thoughts, and their products, (their myths, their religions,
their politics, their social customs, their history, legends, songs,
and overall conception of reality).
All be told: when not engaged in thinking about matters of unquestionable importance, (which happens automatically and normally men forget about),
their thoughts are about one other matter only:
other men’s thoughts about non essential matters.
It is the environment composed of these that each man’s thoughts resist,
and attempt to repel, (a risky thing at best),
but when a man’s head is wiped clean and his new eyes/I’s opened
he privately recognizes that he and the environment are inseparable,
and in essence are but intertwined pieces of one thing;
this is not simply the sensation that many men have experienced throughout history
by which they one time suddenly and miraculously, "felt at one with life, the universe, Nature --  with everything,”
and to which they attribute metaphysical characteristics;
it is more than that, although these professions are a tepid version of the greater non mystical reality to which today’s News points.

The nature of man’s thoughts when they are not interpreting the environment for survival purposes, commonly involves a kind of criticism of it
as it relates to man’s instant needs,
and when not so involved, his thoughts fall onto matters not essential to survival, which are always matters which have no existence outside of his thoughts,
and about them too --  and to a much greater extent –
are his thoughts critical;
always finding fault with the environment of thought-only things;
constantly resisting their onslaught;
continually trying to push them away,
to keep his own mind protected from them  --   to seal himself off.

Being-asleep is: walling yourself off mentally from the environment,
and you facilitate this by letting your thoughts be awash in trivialities,
and the supreme form of mental, trivial engrossment is that of:
                                being caught up in your own thoughts:
in thoughts that see themselves as separate from the environment  --
--  the physical one which they by nature analyze to advantage  --
but when off such duty, the environment from which they feel separate
is one consisting of naught but thought,
and an environment which they do not objectively analyze, but rather repel  --
thought  treating this mental environment as a serious and important matter,
and thus their resistance to it seems equally serious and important.
                                     But to he who can see    --    it is all trivialities.

For the few, the situation is thus  --  not in error --  simply thus:
your original, natural born mind is drowned in trivialities;
your thoughts are overwhelmingly engrossed in matters that are totally trivial  --  if
your goal is to personally discover what is actually going on here.

Even though the human mind is observably the most intelligent thing in the  universe,
there is yet an intelligence in you, outside of your head,
that is immune to trivialities and which rivals that of the brain  ---
                                                       “Rivals --  hell!” (said the guy.)
