PICTURE THIS:
The
City & The Plains:
The
mental City
is surrounded
by open Plains,
which
by nature are forbidden to most men,
and
most men are not directly aware of its existence.
By
birth they feel that TheCity
in their mind is not only
their
home and where they should be, but is also the only place there is.
A
few people feel a certain hard-to-classify call -- it is that
of the neural OpenPlains:
a
place in the brain that is outside the normal city limits of human
consciousness.
Even though everyone is born in TheCity
--
the few’s real home is else where.
TheCity
is a place of story telling & dreaming:
of
weaving tales about the stars;
ThePlains
is where you look directly at the heavens.
TheCity
is a place of problem solving;
ThePlains
is a place with no problems.
TheCity
is where you mentally do life’s bidding;
ThePlains
is a place free of such conscription.
TheCity
is a place of nervous and jumpy eyes;
ThePlains
a land of steady gaze and stable sight.
TheCity
is where no one ever shuts up;
on
ThePlains
no one ever thinks to speak.
TheCity
is where men continually over eat;
on
ThePlains,
men and minds are lean.
TheCity
is a place both literal and symbolic,
and
the more is your life based in TheCity
the more real it be.
Men
make their own City and TheCity,
its own men;
CityLife
sustains itself on CityLife;
out
on ThePlains you
can survive on nothing but air.
The
purpose of CityLife
is to gradually make you more efficient;
PlainsExistence
does it instantly.
TheCity
is smoggy; naught but clean air on ThePlains;
TheCity
is din-on-the-hoof;
ThePlains
so silent no one ever asks: “What’d you say?”
TheCity
is a place of meaningless concepts, such as:
“This
is good, but that other is evil. This is true,
that false” --
ThePlains
is the perspective from which such inanities are seen for what they are.
TheCity
is a place of extremes: it is either too hot, or too cold;
too
bright or too dark; too quiet or too loud; too fast or too slow;
out
on ThePlains
everything is all the time -- just right –
so right in fact that
any
thought to the contrary is unheard of.
Torah,
Tora & Symbolic Locations:
TheCity
was the inspiration for the story of Babel;
the
place Adam ended up, post Eden;
ThePlains
is where Noah came to rest.
Once
you have been on ThePlains
you have a PlainsMind
in addition to
your
old, original CityMind,
and the distance & difference between the two becomes
the
most important matter in your life.
In
TheCity
everyone is constantly at everyone else’s mental throat;
on
ThePlains
all is peaceful -- it has to be -- there is no
one there but you.
TheCity
is a place of much discrimination but little taste;
ThePlains
has a culture so refined that it is not even noticed.
In
TheCity
everyone constantly talks about their self,
whereas
on ThePlains
people hardly have one.
In
TheCity
rats are always in the grain;
PlainsFood
is bullet proof.
The
Busy City & The Quiet Plains:
Life
in TheCity is
all t. and no p. -- all talking and no permanency;
but
out on ThePlains
it is quiet, with no sensation of time.
CityLife
by nature is impermanent;
life
on ThePlains knows
nothing of permanency and impermanency,
and
lacks even interest therein.
Awakening
does not produce quiet but quiet produces awakening;
quiet
does not produce awakening, but awakening produces quiet,
and
only those out of TheCity
and on ThePlains
can
fathom such a paradox and conundrum.
In
TheCity
things move at the speed of present awareness;
on
ThePlains
you can fast-forward real time radio & tv broadcasts.
"Get it over with!”
(if not): “Get to the good stuff!”
TheCity
is the original Land Of Nod;
ThePlains
the place all dreams go to die.
J
The
most abiding thought in TheCity is: “Life is a problem” --
PlainsThought
does not take threats -- it takes the life out of
them.
