How
comes it, ye think, that man is so subject to abuse? -- self abuse,
for
nothing attacks man save man,
yet
for what reason doeth he so relentlessly assault his own being?
This
self abuse is so unrelenting and all pervasive that men do not see it as
a distinct human characteristic, but accept it -- without comment
–
as
a natural part of their existence.
If
a man speaks more than a dozen words on any subject or person
it
is predictable that his comments will become mortally abusive;
be
he president of a nation speaking on international politics,
or
a pedestrian observing driver’s habits,
almost
every compound sentence that ever is uttered by men on this planet
will
be some form of abuse directly solely at man himself.
Men
do not express abuse toward nature: at hurricanes, earthquakes,
volcanic
eruptions -- all matters of extreme threat to man;
no,
men are only abusive about themselves.
No
matter the obvious dangers,
they
never think of the natural world outside of them in abusive terms –
--
it is simply there -- hazards and all --
but
they are never moved to make abusive comments thereabout;
although
death could be seen as man’s greatest threat and adversary,
he
does not in fact feel as abusive toward death itself as he does the actions
of a man who causes the death of another.
It
is as though man sees nothing condemnable in the entire universe except
himself -- and this approaches the mere fact of him existing;
his
words pick specific examples of human behavior for the abuse,
as
though the specificity is proof the abuse is deserved,
but
never does man face the full reality of the abuse being a constant factor
in
the
moment by moment entirety of his life.
(In
case you have not noticed: this is a continuation of yesterday’s news regarding
the missing possibility.)
So,
why might it be that an integral part of man’s very essence
is
for him to engage in endless self abuse?
Myths/religions
say it is because he is flawed and knows it;
psychologies
claim it is due to repressed traumas;
political/economic
theories say it is due to inequitable social structures,
and
so on, and while everyone knows they are all unsatisfying,
there
is yet another possibility that never comes to mind:
a
possibility so subtle and simultaneously astounding that
man
cannot normally even think of it.
It
is at the very edge of reality --
8
words that point directly as can be to the missing possibility --
that
when realized, makes everything in the universe fall into place.
Pursue
the question: "What could possibly be a reason that I have never heard
of
that
would explain man’s all encompassing, endless self abuse?
What
could there be about man that he himself is not normally aware of, that
if true, would explain this self abuse?"
(and
unexpectedly, everything else).
The end.
J
Even
when man is at what he considers to be his most intellectually pathetic,
he
can still do things that nothing else he is aware of in the entire universe
can do.
