The key to holding yourself back is repetition;
mental repetition is all that is necessary for you to stay
dissatisfied, anxious and irritated    --     and normal.

Even though all human problems are questions at heart,
(and illusionary ones at that),
the only freedom there from is via their relentless
and totally unprejudiced scrutiny  --
and not with the intent to find an answer to some specific question,
(such as: “Why am I not properly appreciated?”
“Why does badness seem to overwhelm goodness? “
"Does my life have a purpose or not?” etc.),
but rather to keep holding such a question before your mind
and asking yourself: “Why is there such a question in me?”

This approach alone will yield the liberating insight.

It is not an answer to such questions that will awaken you from
the routine human mental daze,
but rather an understanding of the nature & purpose of such questions.

 This approach alone will yield the liberating insight.

But take needed note that the apparent seriousness of all such questions/human problems is not only undergirded by the mind’s repetition of them, but moreover that
the mind strongly resists all attempts to restrain this activity.

By physical habit-of-instinct is man made healthy;
by mental repetition is he made normal  --  and kept in check.

A man whose thinking is not totally controlled by repetition
is a man out of life’s mainstream control;
repetition is to mental stability & continuity as the laws of physics are
to material predictability and dependability;
via these laws, you know each morning that when you turn on a faucet, water will come out just as it did the day before,
and via repetition, you know that the mental personality of the person
you wake up in bed with each morning will be the same as it was
the day before  --  and indeed,
it is also by the repetition that seamlessly goes on in your own mind
that you are able to maintain the sensation to yourself of
you being the same person from day to day.

The body depends totally on repetition of physical conditions,
while the mind does likewise regarding the thoughts that give it life,
but this repetition serves the overall needs of life, via collective humanity, and not the particular interests of any individual man.
If you are going to pursue questions that do not attract other men,
(and thus do not directly serve life’s immediate interests),
you must do so completely on your own, and in head on conflict with
the almost irresistible force and magnitude of repetition.

When you begin the study of the matter, you first realize that your mental attention is constantly hammered by repetition from without;
it is so omnipresent that it goes unnoted, but once you start to look --
you see that it is everywhere;
coming relentlessly from every area of human activity;
and it holds everything together.

After you settle accounts with that source of stupefying repetition,
you then turn your attention to its life within you;
the ceaseless repetition of a limited number of thoughts running
naturally & automatically through your consciousness
is the most maddening & damning source of a man’s stupefaction,
for it is actually possible to recluse yourself
and cut off the outside world’s repetitious access to your mind  --
                   --  but where can you hide your mind from itself.

It is in fact difficult to achieve a continuing awareness of the presence & power of repetition in your consciousness;
you cannot be so aware while in the midst of repetitious thinking,
and you usually are in the midst of some repetitious mental activity;
it is hard to succeed at something when it is nearly impossible to
ever get started on it good:
and that is what you are faced with when you undertake to see,
(which is to more accurately say):  mentally see what is going on in life which ordinary men do not ordinarily see.

You are bred to look at life mentally through implanted
repetitious thoughts about life, and until you find your own personal crawl space beneath this numbing flooring,
the mere fact of these thoughts’ endless repetition gives them a
commanding feel of authority;
any potential you might have for truly individual insight is hammered into helpless, dull submission by the necessary generalized schemes which life employs in its overall operations,
but for some reason, (probably either: too busy to notice, or:
mutation experimentation), it allows a few humans to be born with neural wiring that does not confine them to the standardized
mental programming;
it offers little in the way of encouraging or nourishing these few’s
potential to see and understand extraordinarily;
each such person is damn near left to totally fend for himself.

Life gives you the certain-hunger,
but leaves it to you to feed yourself.

Compared to how life outfits man in his physical instincts,
this is quite harsh & challenging --  but then again,
that may be the point;
can you find how to feed yourself mentally without life and your fellow man’s apparent assistance?
Perhaps that is the experiment going on with the few;
to see if they can learn -- almost entirely on their own –
how to nourish this hunger for an understanding that is not
normally provided by life;
to see if these individual mutations can sustain themselves in a realm of
mental reality that differs from the  collective's.
(You might note that life seems to specifically test even these few
by commonly offering as apparent methods for them to fullfill their desire to break free of repetition's hypnotizing hold,
activities that themselves are masterstrokes of repetition,
[chanting, praying, meditating, memorizing texts, etc].)

But if you are truly one of the few   –
how can you let such an extraordinary opportunity
slip through your hands by settling for the repetition of thought that
life runs through everybody’s minds;
if you are one of the few, you have another area in your consciousness
which is not now being used, and which if  --   you can get up & running --
is not totally under the domination of repetition.

It is the inner land of freedom; the only one possible;
the only one needed.
