THE
WORLD'S REAL NEWS BUNDLED UP FOR THE WEEK
__________________________________________
Civilized/verbal life is a life
of pretend, and the few who do not enjoy the forced game are doomed to
live a life struggling there against --
…and pretending it is serious
business…
…or else learning
to simply lean back and enjoy the struggle.
To a fully opened eye there are
no such things as optimism & pessimism;
they are but symptoms of a sight
disorder.
The father told the son a story
about a group of mystical teachers at a metaphysical fair who were each
given a stage from which to hawk their particular path to enlightenment,
and once they all had gotten well underway in their exhortations, one was
found to have attracted almost everyone to his area as he shouted out nothing
but: “Porno! Porno!”
then the elder asked the younger:
“And what doesn’t that
tell you about everything?!”
There is so little to do in life
that talk now pushes for center stage
and has taken on a previously
absent, across-the-board significance
in the lives of everyday people.
From one view, you should not
look upon, wanting to awaken
as a desire to flee the dream
you find yourself in,
but rather realize that it was
in the dream where you learned of
the idea of awaking.
Thus a warden can turn out to be an instructor of freedom.
Anyone who depends on feeling
a connection to the past activities dedicated to getting-to-the-bottom-of-things
-- will never do so.
A man who finally realizes what
is going on will turn out to have
no connection to anything discernable
that has gone on before him.
You can’t see what is going on AND concentrate on the details.
Wanting-to-be-awake is
wanting more from words than they have to give.
Conversation on one planet:
“What do you call that?”
“That,” and someone
here asks: “How
do I get there?”
Ordinary people not only do not
have a clue,
ordinary people do not want
a clue.
Take instructions on how to repair your well -- but not how to live.
One guy asks: “What do people
mean when they say:
‘Such-&-such concern
is always in the-back-of-my-mind’
- ?
do they actually have some empty,
available space in there?"
Historians speak at length about:
“the great idea of freedom,”
but no attention is ever turned
to the question:
From
whence cometh the accepted concept of man not being free to begin
with?! -- in other words: What
is going on in your consciousness that
creates the sensation of you
either being free, or not being free.
The resolution to this quandary is the key TO
final freedom.
Patriotism calls to hormones as does the idea of God to neurons.
Often men are not men --
but frightened ducks,
and when stressed --
seek someone’s shoulder to quack on.
One guy mused: “As bad as we
think being asleep is now,
what if it's even worse when
you’re dead?!”
(Hah!
And you said there is too little well grounded pessimism!)
The conscious part of the brain
monitors & analyzes conditions both external and internal;
when working on external matters
it is active;
when it is turned inward it
becomes a passive medium for
whatever flows thru it;
only by saying, thinking “I”
does it become active,
and then feels as though it
indeed has an "I".
This is why ordinary people
so enjoy talking about themselves,
and having the occasion to frequently
say the word, "I".
With a few, this is also the
basis of them wanting to be "fully-awake"
and thus have consciousness
always
in the active
mode.
Psychology is not man-&-thought’s
endeavor to explain human behavior, but is an attempt to make thought’s
activity seem logical,
or at least explainable;
the psychiatric arts were not
conceived of as an effort to cure irrationality which thoughts might display,
but rather to make such intrinsic
irrationality begin to sound somehow -- understandable --
that some forgotten past incident
is causing these present,
irrational thoughts;
it tries to make ordinary thoughts'
omnipresent irrationality
seem to have a rational basis.
Consider
the implications of this scene to your own head life:
A woman thoughtfully detailing
the reasons she decided
not to have children --
when it was her hormones which
made the decision and has now left it to her neurons to come up with verbal,
illusionary reasons.
The same feature of man that
makes him say: “My mind"
is responsible for him picturing
& talking about himself as something that is somehow separate from
nature, (viz):
notions taken seriously of him
doing unnatural damage to the planet.
The Final Freedom:
Realizing that non sense,
no matter how dressed, re-dressed and re-dressed again,
is still nonsense.
Compare the life you lead in
your thoughts to the one you live physically;
look at your physical life with the sound off and compare it with
your thought life -- and note the lack of similarity.
Ponder this & wake up.
