                                                     Each day’s schedule lists:

“Resistance --  resistance:  resistance is surely the key!”

At the end of the week, resistance accomplishes nothing
unless you understand correctly what TO resist.

At the end of the month, resistance accomplishes nothing
unless by then you understand what resistance amounts to.
What if you were a cop, and had to go out every day and fight crime?!
Or a preacher and had to go out every day and fight sin?!
Or a teacher and had to go out every day and fight ignorance?!
or worst of all: a person trying to doTheThing who must get up every morning
and immediately starting fighting himself.
Everyone has one foot nailed to the floor;
you can wave your arms; shake your head, and slide the free foot about,
and thus experience the sensation of some freedom,
but you still have one foot secured firmly in place
and thus from that spot --  thou shalt not move  --   but, that is old news around here,
here is the fresh side of it:
everything that lives will always have one foot nailed to the floor,
(be thankful, most living things have both feet down),
and as always, the inescapable is not the alert man’s problema;
if you are determined to doTheThing what you need note is
your confusing of the nailed foot with the free one.
Questions to grab & strangle:
”Is my nailed foot committing a crime by not moving from its one spot?
Is my free foot sinning by doing that which the other one cannot?
How come one side of me seems ignorant some times,
then the other side at other times?
Do my sides actually take turns living in the dark,
or do my eyes alternate being blind on the left, then on the right?”
One foot can obviously do more than the other one  --
but that foot is not necessarily the one you were born favoring.
(Does anyone need reminding that we are not really talking feet here.)
The foot police are always on duty --
watching carefully for any signs of, undue-relaxation
which can lead to the greater crime of  --   untoward-realization.
Many theories abound concerning the purpose of man’s brain being
divided into two hemispheres: it is so one side can accuse the other.
In the early days of theGreatStruggle, the neural warrior feels at the end of each day that he has put up the good resistance;
he may still have been much overcome by the dull,
mechanical forces of:  “Sleep --  habit --  whatever the hell they are!”
but still he feels his efforts validated in that
he at least remembered some times during the day
to resist those automaticisms of life & himself  --
and for some time, such a man deserves heroic stature  --   but not for ever.
Very quickly (totally beyond the notice of most) this string runs out,
and at sunset, he stands not as a bloodied but unbowed hero  --   but rather as a dunce.
Where be the profit in vacuous battles?  --   worse yet,
the sense in attacking one of your own legs.
Did you already forget about the two princes who
jointly ruled a kingdom, and only what one of them did ever accomplished anything, and the other one never caught on?! --
and you surely haven’t already ditched the memory of Hansel & Thoughtel?!  --
no, no, ‘tis far too sad to return to their story,
and see that blank look creep over your face again;
no, we will just ignore all of this and press on.
To doTheThing is to be absolutely crammed full of ME
(you that is, not the me writing this);
it is to have every teeny weeny corner & square inch of your consciousness
totally filled with nothing but  -- ME:
no one Me nailed to the floor & another Me kind of flopping around;
no one Me doin’ crimes & another Me, hot on my trail:
no one Me hip & In-the-life & another Me Comstockin’ it,
and lastly --  Oh great gooey god of lastly lasties  --
no one, Enemy-Me to be resisted & finally defeated by
the Me reading this & wanting to doTheThing.
The would-be Revolutionist first believes his nailed foot to be X,
and his free one, Y..........then they seem to swap places.......
....then he becomes totally confused  --  same as when he started --
just now with new confusing things to think about.
Before you will resist something, you must take it seriously,
and when you take something seriously, you give to it the strength to oppose you;
see how this works?                    Plus there is this small detail:
Before you will resist something, you must take it seriously,
and to take anything seriously makes you an imbecile.     See?!
One man says that he is himself --  reincarnated –
back from the dead --  the dead wrong --
the mistaking of a nailed foot for a free foot;
the blurred imagination of youth that caused you to believe that
there is another You inhabiting your abode.
Drag old crazy, excitable Uncle Charlie down from the attic
to the main floor sitting room and have a nice firm talk with him........that was a joke --
get him there in the land of the single leg and for once  --
he becomes calm and has nothing to say.
Nailed feet can’t fly, nor do any but dunces expect them to.

                        Stillness is your greatest weapon.
               The reason TheThing cannot be seen head-on
                is because it is composed too much of un-activity;
                        too great a lack of futile resistance.

                   Un-activity is The REAL Thing -- (just like)
                            un-activity is the REAL you.
