THE
FATHER & SON LAY SOME BRICK
________________________
In
that a whole day had passed since their last fab gest,
and
since the son’s head was still on the top of his body,
the
pater to the pod proffered:
”Seeing
that you not only survived my comments of yesterday,
but
have brought yourself again into my presence,
I
will assume you are ready for more -- and more I shall pour.
I
am going to expand the fact I previously presented:
The mind has no memory of itself & what it does,
to
its more comprehensive stage, (to wit):
consciousness
is not conscious of itself.
From
any routine, sane perspective,
if
the first statement is bizarre,
the
second is completely off the weird meter;
consciousness
by definition, ‘being aware’ --
and
of what more would consciousness BE aware than of itself?
Any
ordinary mind will say it is impossible for consciousness NOT to be conscious
of itself, but, ah! -- it is, and just like the first statement regarding
mind’s
lack of memory about itself from yesterday,
today’s
fact is another instance of an indisputable reality, which,
when put into words that make linguistic sense,
is both true and not true -- simultaneously.
Consciousness
is not conscious of itself until it is told this --
then
it IS conscious of itself, and the statement is not true --
--
for a few seconds -- until it forgets it --
then
it returns to not being conscious of itself,
and
the statement is true again.
This
is not metaphysical mumbo jumbo, nor verbal hocus pocus --
it
sounds insane & impossible at first hearing,
but its reality is ever present in your own head,
just
waiting to be seen -- and when it is:
you
will know something radical about the nature of man
that
few people who have ever walked this planet have known,
(you
will certainly be cognizant of something vital that schooled experts
in
Psychology, Neurology & Psychiatry have no hint of).
The
agitation that drives the few such as we into the exploits of:
Trying to Wake Up, or, Achieve Enlightenment,
comes
directly from the fact that:
consciousness
is not conscious of itself,
and
all of the standard methods which supposedly
lead
to awakening & enlightenment (‘Being Mindful;
Self-Remembering;
Being Focused; Living In The Moment)
are
all unrealized reactions to this unrecognized fact.
Being
Asleep & Unenlightened
is simply the condition of:
consciousness not being conscious of itself.
That
consciousness is not conscious of itself
cannot
be proven to ordinary consciousness,
for
as soon as it hears this said,
consciousness
does become momentarily conscious of itself,
and
the statement is not true.
Of
all the tricky things you need to see – this is the trickiest;
consciousness
is like a greased, rapidly spinning pole,
poking
up through the brain to which nothing will stick:
thoughts
will not stick to it,
which
is why the mind has no memory of itself & what it does,
and
on a larger scale this picture can be useful in trying to
see
and understand the fact that:
consciousness
is not conscious of itself.
When
you are in man’s routine state of consciousness,
(and
remember that we are speaking of mental consciousness,
and
not of the body’s consciousness, nor of mental consciousness' memories
of things that the body has experienced, but only of mental consciousness'
awareness of things mental, including itself), which is:
distracted, non specific, fragmented, always drifting into past & future
tenses,
your
state has no consciousness of its state, or of what
it is doing,
which
is why your you/your mind/your consciousness
can
never remember what it has been doing.
You
and everyone else may be clinically, ‘conscious’
(your
eyes are open; you react to changes in the environment;
you
respond to your name)
but
the few are born inherently wired to find this state,
which
is acceptable to everyone else -- unsatisfactory ---
but
most of them never personally struggle to understand
the
why’s & wherefores -- the nuts & bolts of their
discontent,
and
instead, adopt whatever metaphysical tomfoolery is handy.
Studying
other men’s proclaimed, explanations of consciousness
will
never make you understand consciousness;
it
does not matter how long you study, nor how sincerely –
you
cannot see what is going on in the pages of a book,
or
in the words of another human --
you
can only see it for yourself -- IN yourself,
(and
more specifically) -- in your consciousness -- which,
(by
nature) --
is
not programmed to BE conscious of its self & its operations.
Trying
to, Wake Up, or Become Enlightened
is simply a struggle to overcome this programming & alter the situation
in you.
Instead
of saying/thinking: ‘I
want to Wake Up’
it
would be more accurate & to the point to say:
‘I
want to be conscious of my consciousness’
---
….’course
if you want to be even more precise, it should go:
’My
consciousness wants to be conscious of itself’
-- but
that
makes even less sense (does it not?!)
than
everything I have said today, put together.
How
can your consciousness even know that it is not conscious of itself
without
BEING conscious of itself, (that is),
without
being conscious of its true condition, which is that:
it
is not conscious of itself --
but
if it was conscious of this fact,
then
being so would then MAKE it conscious of its self and its condition.
Whoa, Buckshot!
(And
you still wonder some times why more people are not interested in this.)
If
you are ever going to actually grow up, and get a personal grip on this
you
have got to let go and pass beyond all of the explanations, teachings,
plans, methods, notions, theories & ideas about it
that
you have ever heard of, and start to look solely at your own
consciousness
and workings of the mind,
and
I have given you a fact that is an operational short cut
that
can take years off of your undergraduate studies,
and
shoot you straight to the doctoral level, (the fact that):
consciousness is not conscious of itself.
Scrutinize,
dissect and stay on this case ‘til
blood
oozes from your forehead & you squint yourself near blind;
do
not talk to anyone else about it, and in fact,
do
not even say to yourself in detail, what you are doing;
permit
yourself to think only these six words:
consciousness
is not conscious of itself
--
and what flows from there -- let flow from there.
My
son, I would not mislead you --
it
is not even possible for me to do so,
and
I tell you that every single secret men have dreamed of;
everything
that every man has ever realized in his
personal
experience of Enlightenment & Awakening -- plus
everything that you are looking for
is standing mere millimeters behind these words:
consciousness
is not conscious of itself.
Push just beyond the words, and -- Presto!
-- there it is:
everything you want to know.
Happy Tuesday, kid.”
J
Trying persistently
to wake up without understanding the nature of consciousness
is like buying
something indelibly marked with a sale price,
then when it
is regular price again,
tricking the
store by slipping it back in,
and getting it
at the discounted price for a second time,
(and a third,
and a fourth, and so on, throughout your life).
Slick, huh?!
