                    COWS, CONFINEMENT & CACOPHONY IN THE CRANIUM
                                           ______________________

Man’s physical life is a rolling, ruckus herd;
his mental, a floating, electronic cloud.
  “Help!” cried one fish, “I’m drowning.”
     “Oh, you silly thing; you must be one of those non partisan cows;
      around here it is either: "breathe-the-dust, or die.”

If a man who too well hears the voices, is sent up as a lookout,
even with good glasses, and a Ph. D.,
he will still run the boat aground.

                                     Best to trust he,
                                 more heedful of the sea.

All the cows in the herd are smarter than an independent thinker,
in that they clearly know that things are NOT as simple
as they seem.
“No sir, they most certainly are not!” (moo they):
“Not by a norwegian dam site!”

All prisoners and penned cattle know that
a bit of harmless exaggeration helps the time go by.
  “I knew it!
    I just KNEW things are really goin’ to hell,
    and you just won’t admit it.
   Dammit!  How dare you trick me like that!”
           (The willy-nilly placing of emphases
                    can also be a pleasant diversion.)

Reminiscing is a corpse gasping for just one more breath.
(Among the sleeping suave,
its sound is considered more couth than snoring.)

In the morning, one man thought he was dying;
by afternoon he learned it was nothing,
and at night fall mused: “What a day of progress!”

           Memories are plans
        spit into an oncoming wind.

A man with a common mind is never any larger than his own head.
                                      (what a waste
                                       of available space.)

The Story Of How Awakening Has Been Historically Taught:
“Let’s all worship statues & grave sites, and if worse comes to worse, (and none are available), we’ll find someone still breathing.
….IF it comes to that!”

 Or, as so aptly put in the motto of Clown’s Town:
“No man ever stands so tall in the city as when he has  --
              --  fallen down……and will DISCUSS it.”

When faced with a choice of going with two different holy men,
(and you don’t have good luggage, or a lot of time to decide),
always go with the one who cries.

                           You can whip ‘em apart with leather,
                                   but whiners’ will still come together.

(Just imagine what you will be able to understand
once you realize that “knowledge” is not the “truth” ---  hell,
it never was what you were really after!)

Once you have lost mental confidence,
the oceans never again taste sweet;
best advice to begin with: lay back, relax,
and just float along on the illusionary waves of intellectual threats.
  Only a fool can be brought down even further….a fool who originally
tries to rise above his proper station.
…(do you get it?……if not, don’t let on…….for your sake.)
Nothing bolsters a man’s confidence like having a strong philosophy;
a good reputation, and a forty-five.

             One man says: “I hate everything about life!
              ............…except the BEING alive part.”

Prisoners are taught not to speak unless you,
“have something worthwhile to say,”
and they are further led to believe that you have nothing
worthwhile to say….that is,
unless it is something you heard the voices say  --
something in support of the prison administration, (or of course),
a thorough denunciation thereof;
in either case: “Gooood prisoner --  good boy.
Now --  sit!
Roll over,
now --  speak!”

Round 2: No one can stand someone who knows-it-all  -- unless,
they boast about it.
Question: In your own inner, head-dance,
how given are YOU to braggadocio?

.....(Huh!  ’S no wonder there’s such tension between
       your mental sensibilities, and the voices!)

In the war games:
fractured minds are captured minds.
”I say, Corporal  --  pull yourself together!”
   “If I could do that, I wouldn’t be here wandering around on a
    playground battlefield with an echo-headed leader like you.”
Coming apart at the seams
is what sews people UP in dreams.
    “But I can’t help it:  it’s just how I was born.
 ……………well?…………….…aren’t you going to say anything?!”

One fellow muses: “How could you bear being in prison with OUT
staying in a constant half-hypnotized, self-induced state of denial concerning your condition the fix you’re in?!”

(By the by: have you noticed that those in prison seem unable
NOT to think about certain words:
god, death, fear……god……death……fear……………………)

One man says that major, frequently visited businesses,
(such as grocery chains), continually raise their prices by pennies,
NOT to make a few cents more of profit,  but as a joke,
just to see how much the public will put up with.
(In a strange moment, he says it further struck him that a similar scene goes on between the potential buying power of his intellect,
and the voices that attempt to supply it.)

                    Frightening, huh?!    ---    and funny too.

Brains are immune to solder,
but not minds to lead poison,
(the poison of leaden ideas, that is).
  If you have trouble getting out of bed in the morning, consider:
  is it due to your back --  or your head?

A certain mystic one day so addressed a crowd of the interested:
“Question:  what if you privately just pretended to be awake;
how could you tell the difference in that and actually BEING awake?
And  really  --  would there BE any difference?”
     (Whenever he mentioned this,
      his audience would immediately disperse as if on cue.)

If you are ordinary, and feel that you can’t do anything about it,
then you are ordinary enough not to be able to do anything about it.

     Inverted Thermal Layer & Moral:
      Why sweat the heat if you’re  already LIVING in the desert?!

One man says: “Everything serves for good:
the dead fill up the holes in the ground,
and the living do my share of being dull & ditsy.

     Thank God!” adds he, “For everybody else.”

Those who believe that, “the end is near” --  are near their end.

  Inverted Definition of:
  Men With Ordinary Minds vis a vis Their Notions Of Resurrection:
  Creatures with the potential of lowering themselves from the living.

   The clearer you hear the voices  --  the deeper you are in prison.

On one world, anyone who knows what’s going on is required to --
                                    --  keep quiet about it.

(For the sake of his own digestion,
one man left out about half of everything he was tempted to say.)

And lo, the day came when that thing man does that he calls, “speech”
assumed the power of both good and evil.
  (Known to those outside the walls as: the OKAY, and the Okay-Again.)

In a most indirect way,
in essence do many people say:
”Maybe if we talk about prison enough --  it’ll go away.”

                               (May-be, may-be, may-be.)

Much talk makes the voices feel  -–  RIGHT AT HOME.

                     The body has no sin;
                     the body knows no shame;
                     the body could, “Get down with Moses” for ever --
                     and never give the Promised Land a second thought.

                     ….Which is why man has a mind & hears voices –
                                                       whether he likes it or not.

A system for awakening that teaches behavior  --  instructs children.

   By instinct, everyone knows what to do;
   by the-coming-of-thought,
   everyone is now metaphysicalizing corn dogs.

Prisoners are told to stand “straight & upright,”
and a collateral  result of this is that:
    Rigidity becomes its own reward  --  wide spread rigidity.

            Irony is, inevitability --  misspeled.

Health Tip For The Privileged:
To be deaf to the voices is to be free of the only pain that really hurts.

And one thing to always remember in prison is that:
               a rigid mind ALWAYS has a lot at stake.

                   (One prisoner kept hearing a bird tapping at his cell door,
                     …a cuckoo, I believe it was….
                                                                    ….or perhaps a mocking bird.)
