Pondering your own brain’s activities
beyond the obvious fact that
its primary purpose, (as with
any other organ/function of our body),
is to aid in our survival,
offers a much readier available
pay off than does the dedicated study of any teaching devoted to realizing
a state of mind free of the encumbrances & annoyances inherent in mankind’s
common one.
All talk of “being asleep, and
living in a mental dream,"
is nothing other than an unrecognized comment regarding the brain’s normal,
secondary, (you might say), activities.
A person’s brain having an interest
in this matter is so unusual
that as far back as history
mentions same, those involved were hard pressed to put a meaningfully descriptive
name of what was going on
in them & driving their
out-of-the-mainstream
interest,
that they, (not surprisingly),
resorted to using
out-of-the-mainstream terms
to try and adequately distinguish what they were feeling/attempting from
man’s routine interests.
Thus it became generally known
to those who had no natural affection for it as: Mysticism, and
under such a banner do ordinary men perceive it still -- including,
(to their detriment),
most of those who believe that
they do have a real interest therein.
Contraire to what many
who call themselves, “mystics” believe,
man’s ordinary state of consciousness,
(which they find unacceptable),
is not the result of some curse
placed on him by the gods:
simple observation shows that
man is not cursed,
but rather -- blessed,
in the fortune of having a brain that is a medium for thoughts, which
make his existence comfortable, sans pareil,
(this also covers the variation
of the theme that nature made a misstep in man’s evolution).
Also, the dissatisfaction that
the few feel with certain activities in their brain, of which the brain
is aware, (oops! better re do that):
of which THEY
are aware, (the children who read this Daily News are still pretty insistent
that it be so phrased;
let’s start this part over again).
Also, the dissatisfaction that
the few feel with certain activities in their brain, of which they are
aware, is not caused by any factors or experiences in their individual
childhood & past.
With ordinary people: everyone’s
brain works the same,
not differing from person to
person any more than do the operations of men’s hearts or kidneys --
it just seems so to ordinary brains
since what they process,
(thoughts), does not seem uniform
like blood, or urine, but appears
to be constantly different,
(due to every thought having
its own unique verbal description).
You eventually must face it:
if you are sufficiently ordinary that the ordinary people around you have
not committed you to some place of supervised confinement -- for
their own protection --
then what is going on in your
mind is not meaningfully different from
what goes on in everyone else’s;
it is only your annoyance therewith
that is out-of-the-ordinary.
Only “mystics” who have no real
idea what this is about, or what they are doing feel themselves to be anything
mysterious, special, or
out-of-the-ordinary, (which
includes approximately 99 out of every 100 ipse dixit mystics of
whatever school, or sobriquet).
The only thing potentially special
about someone who hears about the idea that man is not as conscious as
he could be, and lives his life essentially, “in a dream, but through certain
efforts can awaken from the dream” is if they then spend the necessary
energy attempting to act on it in a practical manner as opposed to becoming
totally entangled in other-men-produced-ideas thereabout purporting
to teach how this awakening is achieved,
via any activity OTHER
THAN:
The pondering, (an informal
study technique),
the pondering of your own brain’s secondary activities.
There is no “system” --
no “school” -- no guru-for-awakening
but this, and anything beyond
this is simply behavior natural to
any social organization, (like
the lighting of candles in church).
No book, no teacher/wise man,
no mass collection of secret writings,
no ritualized, mystical practices
will ever result in
the new state of consciousness
desired by the few;
only the direct study of the
secondary activities
constantly occurring in your
brain will do so.
The relentless,
the impersonal;
the un preconceived;
the open-ended;
the forever, “I-know-there-is-always-more”
study of your own brain’s secondary activities,
(of whose same operations you
can always take note of in other men).
Take the initiative initially
yourself in pinpointing these secondary activities of your brain, (perhaps
some will get specific coverage here later).
They are common, obvious, and
legion,
and make up the vast majority
of what passes through your
conscious mind, second by second.
(Okay, a starter example, ponder):
Why do men talk so much?.......
(More accurately put:
Why does the brain make men
talk so much?)
And ignore any explanation/theory
you have ever heard of
regarding this question --
abandon them all.
Your study must in all respects
be -- original.
In the beginning it seems most
difficult -- and tricky --
but no one’s brain is accustomed
to such an activity.
To experientially, get-to-the-sweet-center
of this fruit
is in theory -- impossible,
for what can the brain ever
know of itself that it does not already know?!
Ah HAH! That’s for you to know and your brain to find out.
