IN PRISON, AND GRAVE AS AN UNDERTAKER
____________________
Eventually, everyone wants to
be taken, “seriously.”
Comedians want to do drama;
copywriters want to be poets;
rock musicians want to play
jazz,
and jazz musicians want to compose
symphonies,
but this is nothing:
wait'll you learn what your
thoughts
have in mind
for themselves!
Everyone is in captivity;
most won’t admit it, and deal
with it that way;
a few suspect something,
and thereby invite trouble for
themselves:
”trouble” in the form of wanting
to realize
where they really are.
Many of those on the forced march
from
The
Silent Garden of Eden to the noisy Promised
Land
still suspect thought to in
some way, be responsible.
(“Well,
shut my mouth & take away my divinity card.”
“No, no:
shut mine, then tell me I’m back home.
[See,
me being quiet would be the only way
I’d believe it.”])
Seriously
Flawed, (Yet Workable), Health News:
If words are
a viral infection,
then “Giving
advice” is the cure.
Rest assured: when
a-man-who-knows
passes for sane --
it is an act.
Inside the cattle drive -- inside the city:
only
minds stuck to other minds
are
deemed healthy.
Life Officially Approves of bunches;
the solitary have gotta play hunches --
to remain solitary & not be sucked in again.
“Do you have anything to say
before we hang you?”
“On with it! I came to have my old
self hung --
-- not talk about it!”
“How do you know if a man is really dead?”
“He doesn’t say anything if you kick him.”
“Yeah, but he could just be more ALIVE.”
“Hummm -- you’re right.”
Within the fortified, protected,
and formidable walls of civilization, those inside believe that the structure
is always near collapsing.
Many individuals fear themselves
close to insanity;
saved only by the support of
others --
-- with minds no different
than their own
(A salvation best left
unexamined.)
The first step to eventual incarceration
is not childhood delinquency,
but rather, “adulthood” --
known amongst the knowledgeable
as,
“premature seriousness.”
And a gentleman
in back asks:
”Exactly what time frame defines,
‘premature’
in this instance?”
Any time,
sir -- any time.
Inside the walls --
posing as the figure that the
movie in your head portrays
you to be
is known among the inmates as:
”A manifestation of mass
sanity.”
Hardened minds are the foundation
of a civilized prison, (an emendation, por favor) --
a civilized society.
Hormones make you take up the
cello;
neurons make you claim to be
a quarterback at heart.
What is routinely passed-off
& accepted-as, “intelligence” among cows locked in the holding pens,
is a, “seriousness-about-life”
–
“But, hell!” thought
one of them to himself:
”What’s not to be serious
about
when you’re
standing here everyday
next to the slaughterhouse!”
Seriousness IS
as
seriousness DOES,
and with ordinary people --
seriousness does nothing.
There is seriousness
about
things physical -- and: seriousness
about
things mental.
Fact:
There are no mental things to be
serious about
…….not if you hope to ever clear-your-head
of the distracting smell of the abstract abattoir.
The test that life keeps giving
-
-- and you keep passing
-- is
to see if every day you will
complain about something.
For ordinary men:
being imprisoned = safety;
for ordinary minds: being imprisoned
= sanity.
The sign of a captive mind is
that to it,
a single example can prove all
that was announced
to be proved;
a similar thing occurs with
those of independent mind,
with ONE small variation.
…….(Okay, it’s this: any
single example can prove EVERYTHING ever thought about.)
Telling other people what kind
of person you are
is a prisoner explaining that
stripes are actually checks.
Social concerns & fears for
humanity’s survival
are oxygen to the ordinary
--
-- carbon monoxide to
the alert.
From a view more meaningful for
the few:
The only form of suicide significant
is – mental.
(Everyone is remembering that every bit of this
Daily News is never actually about the things it seems
to be reporting on, but is about the things that go on in your mind?
Right?!)
Once there,
life-behind-bars cannot be explained;
when you’re in it,
you know you’re a’gin it,
but you do not actually know
why you don’t like it --
you just know that you don’t.
The inmates who make the necessary
adjustment to
prison life are those who squint
up their eyes;
scrunch up their minds, and
pretend that the whole thing is not happening.
In their heads, they constantly
imagine that they are some place else -- even that they are
some one else.
(There is a secret wing that houses a small number
of people who will not totally
pretend,
nor in the alternative,
make themselves entirely visible to the authorities.)
Making fun of fellow inmates
is about the only form of fun most prisoners find available to them.
Being of independent mind is
NOT
being a hermit.
.....…(leastwise, not visibly.)
All information arising from
the collective mind of man is always in part, aggressive;
this sort of so-called
knowledge is responsible for protecting itself, almost at any cost.
(What a cute word, “almost”:
a child’s mental pacifier.)
Before they reach The
Promised Land,
men have no heroes;
once there, they are crushed
by them.
To be a true individual &
freed from captivity
you must be independent in a
very specific way --
which has a price that
few are willing to pay.
“Come on, champ -- pick
up the tab;
cost should mean nothing to
you;
you’ve had it all -- you’ve
done it all,
and collected WAY more
than you’ll ever use.
Come on, pay up one more
time -- and this time --
pay up BIG TIME
& be done with it.”
