The following is from fragments
of apparently quite ancient leather scrolls, reportedly found in the mountains
of Beskakistan;
seemingly parts of a handbook
of a school that was dedicated to
producing in the human brain,
an ability to manipulate the symbols
common-to, and necessary-for
consciousness in a manner
uncommon
to humanity at large.
They called this talent, Apnu.
**************************************************
”The purpose of Apnu is to
hurt people, and break their
belongings.
The aim of Apnu is to
make the poor, poorer, and the
rich, richer;
to humiliate the fearful, and
set the aggressive on fire.
Apnu’s intention is to increase
the tension caused by
men’s conflicting beliefs, and
opinions.
The ultimate result of attaining
Apnu is the
complete laying waste of the
landscape,
and total destruction of all
that man has achieved.
A man of Apnu is not sympathetic
in any way
to the ordinary human condition
and will not, even for a moment,
allow to dwell in his mind,
any of the problems other people
say they suffer.
He of Apnu view has no regard
for the powerful,
nor any respect for the submissive;
men of knowledge mean nothing,
and those of ignorance, even
less.
Those who realize Apnu, hate
not; dislike not;
they dispute not, and disagree
not with other men because
they think
not of them.
With a mind guided by Apnu,
a man neither looks up
-- nor down;
neither does he weigh and measure,
and when others say: “Look over
here.”
be assured that he does not,
nor does he allow any to know
that he does not.
Apnu is the harmless, yet deadly
enemy of all kings, critics,
and kickers-of-dogs,
and the most fortified kingdoms
cannot withstand
his slightest glance.
Apnu consciousness destroys all
that it touches,
yet leaves unscarred, all that
seeks not to be touched.
Tyrants are slain; crying children
comforted –
-- then both, immediately
forgotten.
An Apnu mind does not
honor man’s past,
and has no interest in what
ordinary men believe will be his future.
In the full bloom of Apnu, a
person has no family,
no king, no culture, no allegiances
but to life --
.....and to Apnu............which
he has forgotten ever existed.
**************************************************************
To achieve Apnu a person must
not deny himself anything:
he especially must consume as
many thoughts as is possible.
He should never sit still, and
should be out constantly among
people who have no interest
in Apnu.
In pursuit of the Apnu perspective,
a man should never be silent,
but must always comment on any
subject being discussed.
An Apnu seeker should
view his body as a hindrance to
achieving the goal,
and physical existence itself,
a temporary annoyance.
The student of Apnu should find
a hero of whom to dream
and who he can quote for protection.
The novice must constantly study
the words of past wise ones,
and engage in whatever physical
rituals suit his fancy.
Above all, those who strive for
Apnu
must give themselves up totally
to an activity that teaches
its achievement,
and which is systematized, organized,
consistent,
and with an historical lineage.
An Apnu scout is: loyal; trustworthy;
dishonest & deceitful,
and will gladly stab his own
self in the back.
He will lay flowers on a grave
-- or,
piss on the corpse, whichever
is appropriate at the time.
In times of hardship, fasting,
suffering & prayer,
you may look
Apnu awareness cannot be purchased;
it cannot be given or taught.
Apnu consciousness can just
barely
be accepted
when it does become available.
It is not what any student originally
thinks that it is --
but then again, it’s not really
that far from it.
Having it finally start up in
your brain will make you smile;
it’ll make you get up and walk
outside so that
you’ll have more room to smile.
Once certain areas of your brain
begin to use the new,
Apnu neurotransmitters, you
become hard as nails,
and your heart the pneumatic
driver;
the ship becomes steel
-- the cargo, cotton candy.
The whole world disappears,
its absence taken up fully by
the universe;
all your possessions are lost,
and for the first time, your
home is filled with real art.
No one ever comes to see you
-- you’re invisible;
even the old mirror you for
so long clung to,
just grins at you from the dust
bin.
*************************************************************
Only those who fulfill all the
requirements, and graduate from here understand that there is no such thing
as Apnu;
even though you spent decades
of exhilarating years
engaged in its study, and practice
--
it in truth, has nothing to
study, and naught to practice.
All that the mind ever has to
study
that does not come out of
the ground
are symbolic things that it
made up to study,
and all that a man can practice
that has any significance whatsoever
is to simply live.
There it is: that is Apnu:
the direct recognition of all
that is nothing,
and living -- which
is something.
….of course, add to that
the indescribable grinning-under-the-covers
that comes from discovering
all of this.
Singular, HAILS!
to you -- oh
mighty apnu.”
