(AN EXTENUATION OF YESTERDAY’S AD HOC MAPPING.)
________________
To go along with the previous
concept of man having two selves: (a mental self, and a non-mental self),
picture him living in two realities:
a physical reality, and a mental
reality;
they are both real --
but,
one is material, and the other,
not.
Matter makes up the physical
reality,
and talk, the mental one;
both are necessary for a man
to live an ordinary life;
at any given moment, one may
be expediently
more important than the other,
(although the former is always
involved in
everything a man does.)
Man’s mental self takes mental
reality to be of more importance than does his non-mental self,
(which appears to be essentially
either ignorant-of,
or disinterested-in the existence
of a
non-material reality.)
Man’s mental self talks about
both the
mental reality, and the non-mental
one,
while his non-mental self lives
in silence.
Man’s mental self says that it
can affect
his non-mental self,
while the latter is silent on
the subject,
(and obviously does not have
to comment on its
possible reversal -- in that it is literally the
life support system for the former.)
Man’s life in the physical reality
goes on
more or less automatically,
although his mental self does
not see it this way;
his mental self ascribes to
itself
more or less, carte blanche,
freedom-to-choose,
and expands this notion into
believing that it can
share this talent with the physical
self;
this seems to make sense inasmuch
as the
mental self can exert its will
on the physical reality,
(with
of course, the assistance of the physical self.)
Thus one of man’s selves believes
that within the
Laws Of Nature & Physics -- anything is possible,
while his other self lives a
life of total routine,
making no comment thereabout.
Man’s mental self perceives clearly
that the physical reality favors the status quo;
mountains do not want to move
--
they must be forced to do so
--
with the planning of man’s mental
self,
and the labor of his non-mental
self.
Man’s non-mental self favors
the status quo also,
and left solely to its own designs,
would move only to meet survival
necessities;
actions other than these must
be forced by
his mental self.
Physical reality is what you
stub your toe on;
mental reality is wherein you
decide to move the
matter against which toe suffered
the painful experience.
Physical reality is where you
get hungry;
mental reality is wherein you
discuss which
restaurant to visit.
Physical reality is where you
become ill,
and mental reality is wherein
you ponder the
comparative prices of different doctors.
And physical reality is where
you know nothing – AND
are not fooled into believing
otherwise -- WHILE
mental reality is where everything
that men
say they know -- is cooked
up.
Even though, “physical reality
& mental reality”
are themselves merely expedient,
made-up descriptions,
unless you see for
yourself
the ever-present, always-working,
inescapable operation on which
they are based,
you will never see you, mankind,
or life clearly.
You, mankind, and life are all
one big,
unified ball of wax --
but --
men have a special spot in their
ball that has a
blind spot regarding itself,
and has thus unwittingly,
developed a dual perspective
of the whole ball;
this spot is man’s mental self,
and it sees everything
in terms of subject and object;
it is the subject, and whatever
it thinks about is something separate from it -- an object.
Ergo, man’s perception of living
in dual realities;
one of physical matter, and
one of thought-&-talk.
Man’s mental self has made pretty
short work of his
physical reality;
he has cured fatal diseases;
revolutionized the production
of food;
changed the course of rivers;
gone to other planets;
and seen to the edge of the
universe,
and into the heart of an atom,
and man’s mental self has also
made short work of itself -- but not in a sense profitable to a man
seeking to understand in solitude
-- what is going on.
Man’s mental self has classified
the physical elements
of the universe;
described matter and energy;
charted the planet’s biology,
and his own physiology,
but has no conception of itself
-- apart from
what it has observed about its
own physical reality.
It has continually attempted
to expand its scope,
and do otherwise,
and has gone so far as to give
the effort its own name, (variously known as: Psychology, Psychiatry,
even, Philosophy),
but only a man with no personal,
sighted-man of his own inside
can pretend to accept the vacuous
speculations,
and theories presented thereby
as having any enlightening significance
whatsoever.
Only a solitary individual here
and maybe, there,
who says he understands nothing
about his
mental self --
understands ANYTHING about his
mental self,
and anyone who doesn’t understand
what their mental self is about
will never understand what mankind’s
mental reality
is about.
Even though the division being
arbitrary and spurious,
if you will look at the life
of man, (and in particular, your own), in this light of him living in twin
realities,
one mental and one physical,
that which seems inexplicable
becomes clear,
and that which you do not understand
--
-- explains itself.
The constant conflicts, bickering,
and criticizing that seems so stupid and pointless in the life of man
is revealed as being something
else entirely,
and your own personal, inner
conflicts,
and self-incriminations are
seen to their root for what they are, and the generally unrecognized purpose
they serve in the life of the
herd.
You clearly have a body and a
thing making talk in your head, (the so-called, mind),
and a sincere, even cursory
glance seems to show them continually working at cross purposes,
and with the latter always making
some judgmental
comment concerning whatever
is going.
All ordinary people --
without ever thinking about it --
accept this life-long, on-going
internal voice-over
as appropriate,
but if you seriously entertain
this noise --
-- even though it emanates
from your own head --
you are heeding a voice with
absolutely no credentials.
You are acting as though you
believe that
one part of your brain KNOWS
more than YOU
do.
Must it actually be pointed out
to you how thoroughly
insane this is?!
In the physical reality it would
the same thing as you insisting that you are actually taller than you are.
You live day and night in two
realities:
one is a mental reality,
and the other is a physical
reality,
and put quite simply, but accurately:
to suddenly grasp the full unspeakable
reality
behind this verbally described
situation
is to open your eyes finally
to what being a,
walking-around, breathing and
thinking human being
is all about.
Nothing less, and nothing less,
-- for there is
nothing more.
