        YOU DRIVE FOR A WHILE
                                   __________

What follows is a list of topics that have been considered for coverage in the Daily Fresh Real News,
but before you read below the red line,
try to mentally write your own stories thereabout.

1. The joys & expense of mistaking noise for knowledge.

2. The joys & expense of believing that there IS
     knowledge.

3. Prayer as the mind searching for
    new ways of talking to itself.

4. Meditation as the mind trying to shut itself up.

5. Enlightenment as the mind trying to leave town and be
    done with it.

6. A man asks: “What is the chemical symbol for rust?”

7. It’s the transparency of it that throws you.

8. Subliminal reinforcement tapes with such titles as:
   “Smoke”; “Drink”; “Don’t exercise”;
   “Go With The Natural Mental Flow,” et cetera.

9. The interests of the state vs. those of the individual:
   (The interests of the herd as opposed to
     those of a cow).

10. The few have few children;
       they have mental offspring.

11. The significance of artists being smart asses.

12. Why fiction is so popular, and sooooo comforting.

13. Why biographies are so popular, and
       soooo reassuring.

14. The heartbreak of reporters wanting to be
       the celebs they cover:
     (The joys & expense of the mind believing that
       it has the ability to engage in meaningful envy).

15. Talk as nothing but grooming; a safety valve;
      a cheap way to pass the time.

On one world,
everyone is born speaking the ABC language,
which serves well the majority;
a small number of the inhabitants however,
find it inadequate for a certain minority interest
they attempt to pursue  --  so:
in that the native tongue has no words to
describe their interest
they obviously cannot  --  even to themselves --
describe their interest.
All they know for certain is that they are dissatisfied, and that none of the things that are describable
quells their hunger.
They internally hear something calling them,
but who knows what it is?!

Since ABC is the only language that everyone speaks, the few must continually deal therein to survive;
thus they constantly shift back & forth between
being thoroughly disenchanted with the common vocabulary, and blithely -- by necessity --
dealing therein.

When they are in the former mental position,
they realize fully the impotence of their language
to describe at all the source of their dissatisfaction,
nor that of the silent voice that beckons them,
but when their thoughts are totally immersed-in,
and completely confined-to the local vernacular --
they have no immediate memory of this realization,
and will fitfully try to make it fit over
their unique interest.
Then when they return to the mental state of understanding the language’s innate limitations,
they feel more dissatisfied and frustrated than before.

There are ancient writings on the world which purport
TO explain in the standard language
the very thing that so bothers the few, and its cure,
and by golly! --  they appear to do just that!  --   IF
when you read them,
(written as they must be, in the native language),
your mind is confined to thinking about them in that same language, (which ordinary minds will do).

                     Even though everyone around you
                               speaks & writes in cow,
                       if you only listen & read in cow
                   you can never be other than a bovine,
                   regardless of your desire, or sincerity.

People read the ancient & revered ideas that say:
”Man is asleep,
but through certain efforts, can awaken,”
and while such may instantly strike the reader as unquestionably true -- about him  --
few of the few, after that,
ever give the descriptions which they have wholeheartedly adopted
any further thought.
                This is costly.

This is costly in that no description accurately describes what it is that troubles a man,
for the source of what troubles him is the very thing
that impotently describes what is troubling him.
                 Not likely.

This is ridiculous: the thing that describes the cure for his dissatisfaction is also what is causing it;
if it knew the solution to the problem
it would already be
a fait accompli.

A man who says he’s lost --
--  but who actually knows the way home --
is not really lost at all, is he,
and such be the instant case with creatures who only think in the local language of the herd.
They are lost, but  --  not lost;
confused, but  --   not really.

When you are speaking in ABC, (read: Dream-speak),
you have no choice but to be in a dream;
think about the concerns that other cows couch in
moo terms, and such will perforce be your concerns.

Be an inner stranger to your own local language;
you are choking on it now, and that’s what
bothers you.
You don’t need to wake up --  just SHUT up.
