JAN’S DAILY FRESH REAL NEWS
© 2001: Jan Cox

Monday: dateline: Beirut, where at this time,
it is always Tuesday,
thus the news is always ahead of itself…
………just like it always is to those who can read.

   THE POSSIBLE PURSUITS OF THE DEAL

1. You study courses written about:
    “pursuing the deal.”
2. You eventually recognize your error,
    and begin to pursue the study of the thing that
    wrote all the courses,
    and the thing that studies them  --    the mind.
3. You finally realize your basic misstep;
     you forget about the mind, and turn your attention
     to the only thing that actually exists -- existence.

Few people ponder existence --  most just live it,
and most of the few only
ponder their mind & their pondering,
(though never realizing it).
A few-of-the-few finally do get down to the deal:
the direct pondering of existence itself;
they attempt to hold a constant consciousness of the strangeness of both existing, and knowing that you do.

                   This IS – the real deal.

  THE FURTHER POSSIBILITIES OF THE MAN IN BED

1. Each morning upon awakening, you can lay there,
    and ask yourself:
   “Why do other humans behave as they do?”
2. You can lay and ask yourself:
   “What is it in me asking: ‘What is it in me asking?’”
3. You can discover an unexplored, unstable edge
    where the first two possibilities meet,
    and when even momentarily seen --
    lights up mere existence in a way that is
               blindingly enlightening.

Being a human is living a song:
there is a ceaseless rhythm,
the instincts of the body,
and a melody,
the thoughts of the mind;
the second cannot exist without the first;
they are inseparable, yet the latter can deceive itself,
and conceive otherwise,
for while the melody is limited by the rhythm,
it can sing about being free, and thus believe it is so;
like a caged bird  --
carried away by the sound of its own voice  --
                       oblivious to its captivity.

At the rhythmic level,
an ant thinks first of the needs of the colony;
at the melodic, he is allowed to believe that he
reflects on his own individual life and desires;
there is no readily available provision for
the direct mental realization   --
“I exist.”

If you think a lot about the second reality,
you become susceptible to unnecessary seriousness;
but if you do not thereabout think sufficiently,
you run the risk of suffering severe consequences in
running afoul of rules established to govern this concurrent world.

    Not too much and not too little;
    ‘s a really strange cat wastes time on a fiddle.
    Hippos happy at water holes;
    culture vultures blinded from peeping thru key holes.
    A man who knows the real deal
    knows where he belongs  --   which is where? --
    --  he can’t say……...which proves he knows.

If it is your desire to do-the-deal
then it is certainly preferable that you
think a lot about the deal, as opposed to
having your thoughts engaged in unrelated matters,
but if you want to get even closer to the deal,
you have got to discover for yourself
the inherent flaw in this otherwise appearing,
”proper and necessary approach”;
after all, a man must study another language
if he expects to speak another tongue,
but he who would do-the-deal must eventually realize
that there are no instructions regarding it --
--  no information, concerning it  --
thus anything you do other than simply: doing-the-deal
is a complete waste of effort,
and all involvement therein merely serves to keep you away FROM the deal.

1. You go to school.
2. You begin to study the nature of schooling.
3. You wake up and drop out.

There is no post graduate work in doing-the-deal --
there’s not even a DEAL to begin with  --
                                see,
       realizing this is   --  doing-the-deal.

Any assertion made using yourself as an example
isn’t worth your time.

Two  Other Ways to Approach The Deal:
        Stop & smell the roses  --  or:
                         BE the roses.
