JAN’S DAILY FRESH REAL NEWS
© 2001: Jan Cox
January 4, 2001.

Today we are in Buffalo, New York,
birthplace of the Julian Calendar,
(and his brother the bassist, Red),
wherefrom once more I shall report to the interested
on that specialized matter of a
different state of mind.

You can talk about the “waking up thing”
systematically, and logically,
treating the matter as though it is a coherent whole,
or else you can “shotgun it,”
taking this to be the more appropriate approach
to the target under consideration.
Mondays are good for one method,
Octobers better for the other.

A REAL map maker burns yesterday’s charts.
A REAL map maker is one who travels.
To be a REAL map maker --  AND TRAVEL,
requires that you always burn yesterday’s charts.

The job of the mind is to TALK ABOUT THINGS;
this is not the part of consciousness that can
wake up.

Mental irritation without the knowledge of its cure
is stupidity by NOM DE PLUME.

Variation: Do not be upset about anything
you do not know how to stop;
doing so is slow --  oh so slow  --
neural, blood-letting-suicide.

In the mental-based, second reality,
the less be the believability potential in an activity
the more seriously it will be presented.
(Some random examples: politics, religion, history,
your normal sensation of yourself.)

A warrior once raised, who does not attack
will BE attacked.

Prescription: Apply to the matter of
part of your thinking wanting to wake up,
while other parts are content with things as they are.

Variation: Use what you know or else
watch it slip away from you,
and never even see it happening.

Men full of blame, with no where to rest it,
will lay it on the times.

Accusing the times is an admission of
 your own torpidity.

It’s hard to remember about “waking up”
amidst the good times,
and difficult not to fret over “being asleep”
amidst troubling ones.

You’re do if you’re damned, and
  don’t if you’re damned.

If you want to employ some religious type notions in your awakening struggle, then forget the picture of some martyred human as having “died for your sins,”
but rather consider that your conscious mind has saved you, and -- sacrificed itself by
being stupid in your place.

Remorse over being asleep is like taking medicine
after you’ve died.

  The All Important, Speed Calibration:
   A man’s past is created and re-created
as fast as he has thoughts.

The best known ancient record of men wanting to establish a non standard state of mind is contained in
the idea of: “Studying, and knowing yourself,”
but what is not as well known is exactly what aspect of man it is that he should be studying and knowing
to achieve this goal.

A man who says that he understands what
“being asleep” is, and knows how to “wake up”
has freeze dried a shadow and now worships it.

A person passionately clutching his present ideas
makes himself so internally rigid as to be normal,
and incapable of the acrobatics needed to awaken.

At first it seems that only the words of others will awaken you;
eventually you find such only sleep producing.

The advice of those who know
     to those who don't
is like champagne to an armadillo.

A difficult understanding is better than an easy judgment .

An impassioned opinion may come on the scene as the steely glint in an eagle’s eye,
but will exit, stage left
as a dingleberry on a mouse’s ass  --

…and normally, advisors are not on-the-field players.

The best explanation is still but a partial answer.

Variation: The best of answers is always but a
                   partial explanation.

Definition: Proverbs: Madd Dogg posing as champagne.

And finally: It has been said that:
”No man is wise enough to advise himself,”
and I say the exception is -- The Awakened! --
-- and I say --   that’s how they GOT awake!

…oh yeah, I almost forgot something:
The opposite of every enlightening idea
         is itself enlightening.

…wait, one more thing:
Whatever it is that you do
there is always somebody better at it than you --
--  except for YOU waking up.
